From the midwest here I've also noticed a degrade in my ping the last few months.  I'm out of Minnesota and 3 months ago I averaged between 60 and 70 ping recently I'm just under 100.  I hope this network rollout does help.  It would be nice if network issues weren't a factor in winning and losing games!

Yeah same here, ping has always been 90, but I've always been at 60 fps and never had issues so it wasn't a big deal to me. Although I've only really experienced the packet loss issue in maybe 1 or 2 games since it's become apparent.

I'm pretty excited to see how this is going to help improve gameplay for players! People are going to find an excuse other than "lag" for when they wind up dying now haha :P

TFW 25 ping average.   >.>

Will this help me play league while torrenting mass amounts of pornography?

Or will this make me go below 20 ping? Cause seriously 25 ping is brutal it's like I am playing in molasses!

Just to be clear --- This won't have a huge impact everyone seems to think it will.  This wont make the connection jesus like.

What they are doing (from what I can see) is they are talking to ISPs to make a more direct connection ... so  instead of the packets (the shit you send to connect and play LoL) going weird routes (NY > Quebec > Mexico > Jupiter > Rito Servers) they are trying to make it where the connection will be more like NY > Quebec > Vancouver > Rito Servers (Im making these paths up, by the way, not sure if you could tell).

I expect a 1-10% difference in your ping (1% for neat west coasters to 10% on the East Coast) with obvious packet loss fixes here and there.  This means if you are on the East coast and have a 100 ping normally, you may see it drop to 90-93ms.  This makes no difference in all honesty.  The real change you will see is when they relocate the servers.

The thing you should be excited about is how there wont be random ping spikes and stupid shit randomly.

Moving the servers seems like a bad idea! I can only see that affecting me negatively! Clearly riot exists to only please me and moving the servers away from me is clearly BAD!

If RITO gives me lemons...

Another thought could be to setup servers in various global regions (IE: West Coast, East Coast, Mid West, EU (other countries))

THIS. THIS with the force of 1000 stars!

Unfortunately rito will never because separating the player base will increase queue times drastically.

Sounds like flawed logic to me *shrug* 1 million users hitting servers located on West Coast vice 250k hiting servers on West, East and Mid West.. seems to me as the load would be dispersed and queue times would be decreased. At least thats why we split our server farm across geo locations at work :) so all the west coast ones do not get slammed.

Considering all the shit people give them over the EUW/EUNE split I wouldn't be surprised if they kept everyone on the same NA realm JUST because of perceived quality differences and the ensuing political battles

A cool thing games like CSGO does is have two different "realms" (NA East and NA West).   This is great for Soloqueue because of a normal 90ms when i play with west-coasters, I play with a 35-40 ping.  This however doesn't mean I can't play with people in the west, it is simply a priority thing.

Splitting up the servers completely (similar to EUNE and EUW) is sort of stupid imo, because then I wouldnt get to play with people on a different server.

The only way to make latency decent for everyone is to move the servers to the midwest (Chicago is usually the central norm for game severs), or St. Louis, or somewhere that isn't right on the ocean.
