Valius got a reaction from Ahryse in vVv Takes Second in Mistpedia Invitational
This past Saturday the vVv Gaming Guild Wars 2 PvP team took second in the Mistpedia Invitational. This tournament featured 8 teams across North America which were split up into two groups of 4. For the past 3 weeks the teams play in a round-robin format in which the top two teams from each group would play in a double-elimination bracket on the fourth weekend.

vVv.GW2 took first in Group B of round-robin play and beat all three teams we played against. In the bracket play this past weekend we faced off against Player Skill Issues (PSI) beating them 2-0 in the first best of three. After that match we played the top seeded team, Disney Channel, in a best of three, winning 2-0. In the grand finals we faced off against Disney Channel again in a best of five, ultimately losing 3-1.

This past tournament was a fun one for us, as it may have been our last. We took in 10,000 gems (in-game currency) and $60 as a team with our second place finish to quite possibly finish out our Guild Wars 2 PvP careers. Steamhawke and I have had a long 6-7 months of playing Guild Wars 2, every bit of which was enjoyed, along with the pickup of Quilja back in October and Spirits & Eurantien in November. We are officially done with Guild Wars 2 PvP tournaments for the time being. Steamhawke and myself will be preparing for our transition into Wildstar PvP when the day comes that we can play it, while the others will be moving to other games. If any new Guild Wars 2 tournaments come up we will consider hopping back into the scene of things, but for now for this game is no longer for us.

We would like to thank all of you who have supported us through the past 6-7 months. It was a good ride. You will see more of us in the future, however, from the Wildstar side and possibly other games. Our intent is to continue to maximize our MMO PvP skills for the upcoming Wildstar PvP and compete to be one of the best in arenas. If we have any news of upcoming Guild Wars 2 tournaments or Wildstar information from us we will be sure to post it here.

Greetings! A short update from the Guild Wars 2 PvP team:

Yesterday the Guild Wars 2 PvP team consisting of myself, Steamhawke, Quilja, Eurantien, and Spirits, took third place in the Good Fights Invitational. This tournament featured some of the best teams in the world:

    vVv Gaming (#5)
    Good Fights (#1)
    ROMs Going to Jail (#4)
    Paramount Enthalpy (#3)
    Fifty Five Hp Monks (#2)
    Being OP is Hard (#8)
    Grouch'z Girlz (#7)
    Two Metas Ahead (#6)

Going into the tournament this past week, ROMs Going to Jail was seeded at #1, but due to the drop out of a team and a replacement, they decided to reseed. This past Thursday Fifty Five Hp Monks beat a roster that consisted of three of ROMs Going to Jail members, ultimately pushing ROMs Going to Jail back to the #4 seed. In our first matchup, we faced ROM and defeated them in 2-0 in a best of 3 series.

In the second round, we faced Good Fights, in some very intense match-ups. We were defeated 2-0, in a very close second match that could have pushed it to a third with a lord kill but missed it by only a matter of seconds. Good Fights went on to the finals where the lost to Fifty Five Hp Monks 3-2.

In our consolation game we faced Paramount Enthalpy. We took the first game easily 500-250 on Forest of Niflhel. In the second match we had a 450-350 lead when they rushed for the lord (grants 150 points). It was down to the last second when they killed the lord and won ~550-497. In our third match on Battle of Kyhlo we defeated them, putting us in third place for the Good Fights Invitational.

Up next is the vVv Gaming Kings of the Mists tournament that takes place this upcoming Saturday (2/1) starting at 12pm EST. Tune in then for more PvP action!

    Greetings vVv'ers!

I am here to present you with an update from the vVv Guild Wars 2 PvP team. Throughout this post I will talk about our adventures from November to now and our plans with moving forward in 2014.

I last checked in on the forums just before the Guild Wars 2 Apples & Axes tournament. In the AAA tournament we won 2-0 against TDM Gaming in the first round, while later losing to Disney Channel in the next round 2-1. After the AAA tournament we continued practicing for the final tournament of the year: The Good Fights Invitational.

The Good Fights Invitational was going to showcase the top 16 teams world-wide before the tournament was postponed until January 25th due to technical difficulties. Since then we have taken some time off for the holidays and waited until our breaks were over to resume practice for The Good Fights Invitational and the vVv Gaming Kings of the Mists tournaments. The Good Fights Invitational has now been reduced to a pool size of 9 with a play-in match for the final spot in the 8-team tournament featuring the top 8 teams world-wide.

However, that's not all. Tune in on February 1st for the vVv Gaming Kings of the Mists tournaments which is planning to feature an open bracket with 16 teams for a major prize, thanks to Steelseries and ArenaNet.

As for our future with Guild Wars 2, we will be discussing this as a team after the vVv Gaming tournament. Our current plans as of now are to stick with the game as are still fresh tournaments coming out every month. We will keep you updated on this as we continue to get closer to the upcoming tournaments.

Be sure to support us on January 25th for The Good Fights Invitational and on February 1st for the vVv Gaming Kings of the Mists!

Valius reacted to vVv LordJerith in Will vVv be rolling on a PvP server?
Yea, I think the devs have gone back and forth between Tab targeting and then more skill shot focus. Even at E3 in June, I felt the build (which was the earlier PAX build) was really eh.  It feels like it might go through what SWTOR did where a lot of people try it, and then they leave.  The real question is does it have any real long term viability.
I'm just as desperate as any other MMO player, but I feel EQ Next will probably be much better than anything Carbine studios can push out, looking at it from talent and passion. There is a lot of good in WIldstar, and it feels different. Can it really keep me interested long term?

NCsoft knows how to publish a game, but if they hold the $$$, I'm not sure Aion or GW2 were all they could be.  We'll see.

Valius got a reaction from IRGRL in PvP Team Arena Fundraiser
The PvP team is starting a small fundraiser to help us with getting server time for our PvP arena. This arena is very crucial to our practices that are happening anywhere from 3-5 times a week. The things we use our server for are listed below.

Practice scrimmages with other PvP teams Practicing 1v1s Practicing 2v2s while we wait for queues (or sometimes our practices are 2v2s) Donating our server as a server to be used for tournaments (such as the vVv Gaming tournament and Good Fights tournament) Testing new builds
We know having a server is crucial to our team's success for future tournaments and use it nearly every day of the week. We are asking for a small amount of gold to help pay for the server time, as we PvPers make minimal amounts compared to the PvE community.

We are asking for a total of 120 gold for this which would allow us to pay for 60 days of server time! We realize your gold in-game is valued and in return we are planning on hosting a bi-weekly WvW event for the guild.

What this would entail is the PvP team running WvW for a night every two weeks for several hours. You'll get to spend some time with us in mumble and learn how we communicate (because we'll be bringing that communication to WvW!). Granted, not every one of us will be able to make it every time, but I can guarantee we'll have at least one of us there every time! This may not seem like something to "give back" to the guild, but we realize we aren't too involved in PvE because of our commitment to PvP, but we will do this to help out and do what we can!

Please send me a message in-game or mail in-game to "tichorum.2415" if you are wanting to donate! We plan on hosting this every two months to keep up!

    Thank you!

Hello to the vVv Gaming community!

I'm writing this post because I have some great news, though this happened about a week ago. Aside from the slight delay, our Guild Wars 2 PvP team has been working hard at achieving some of our goals such as winning upcoming tournaments and taking a place in the top five to qualify for the Mist League Season 1 Championships.

Just two weeks ago we played our final two matches and won both to earn the number one spot in the Mist League Season 1 regular season. League results for NA can be found here.

Mist League is a 10 week long season-like formatted structure. The top five teams from NA and EU qualify for the Mist League Season 1 Championships for a chance to win a share of the $10,000 prize pool. We started four weeks late during the regular season, hence our 12 games played (2 each week). Out of those twelve games, we finished with an 11-1 record, the highest percentage in the league along with the number one spot.

The Championships will be starting early-mid October in a round-robin format in which the top two from each region will duke it out for a spot in the grand finals. More information on upcoming dates will be announced at a later time.

On another note, we do a have a "super secret" tournament coming up in a couple of weeks here that we are excited to get to participate in! More information on this will come later as well.

We appreciate all of the community's support and will continue working hard to bring home the win in Mist League!
