Working in Audio/Visual at my church, Grace Uprising. I also work full time in Medical Records. I enjoy competitive gaming and learning about it's history. I highly recommend th book, "Game Boys," by Michael Kane. It truly inspired me to pursue competitive gaming.
  1. Former Halo division/Community Gamer. Some staff members remember me as "The Hype Man."
  2. Former vVv member, but still a fan. I will be there for sure. FYI, for those that don't know me, I am loud....
  3. Good read. This needs to be in place everywhere like yesterday.
  4. It may not help, but Southwest Airlines is having a good sale right now. If I see anything else that may help, I'll pass it along.
  5. You can answer it if you want to.
  6. Tank, where are the two teammates dealing with transportation issues from?
  7. Tank is a good guy. He has my support along with the rest of the team.
  8. Really want to be there for this one, but it all comes down to money. Tentative plans made, but not sure if they will hold. Hopefully, I'll figure it out in the next few days.
  9. Before you read this, make sure that you’ve read my previous post, “Halo 2012: Where do we go from here?” http://forums.majorleaguegaming.com/topic/258256-halo-2012-where-do-we-go-from-here/ "Sundance was saying Halo is/was dead in accordance to the 2011 season. He never said that it is forever dead. He said that it is "on the table", which means it is on the verge of being dead if 343i and the community don't step up their game. Through things like Halo Nation, LoS, BtC, commentaries, and the recent updates, we're on the right track - we just need to keep it CONSISTENTLY growing." - Invelity "Halo Reach without bloom or sprint is extremely enjoyable compared to what we had about a week ago. Although Reach overall has failed to impress the competitive community, 343i has done a great job to tailor what they could to us, and it has definitely made a huge difference. I think we can all look forward to some great matches and flashier plays this season. We just have to make do with what we have until we have Halo 4, which I believe could be the best competitive game yet based on how much 343i is hearing our suggestions to improve Reach." - Project11 "The community needs to continue being supportive so we can stabilize our population until we're able to grow again with Halo 4. The pro players and community leaders need to keep the content coming even after Halo 4 is released so we have even more to attract new players." - Sheeps "I do agree, i thought the pros (who are the ones that make money) would be a little bit more vocal." - ABearInTheWoods "I feel us, as a community, are responsible a tad bit for keeping Reach alive until H4 drops. Of course, 343 has to do their part. They have been. Extensively. But, we have to keep showing that we actually care and continue pushing forth ideas that will get rid of the stale taste left in the mouths of gamers and Halo fans as we go into Halo 4. They're obviously listening to our thoughts and what we believe will help us survive until the end of 2012. We just have to keep pushing, guys." - Onshlawt Thanks to all who provided feedback to my previous post. Right now, I want to highlight some of the best reader responses: Again, thanks to everyone who responded. Before the next episodes of the Losers Bracket and The Halo Council air, I wanted to ask the Halo Community: What are you doing? Since the Losers Bracket aired on Tuesday evening, have you told 343 Industries that you want to continue seeing Halo on the MLG Pro Circuit? This is a big question for the Halo Pro Community. Over the past few days, I’ve been checking your Twitter feeds to see what your reactions were to this past Tuesday night’s Losers Bracket. Quite frankly, the overall reaction, with the exception of a few, has been largely muted. Members of the MLG Halo Pro Community, I want to ask you just one question: Do you think Sundance was just full of hot air when he gave his assessment of Halo heading into 2012? I assure you, he was not. Sundance DiGiovanni is a gentleman that I will always take at his word. He is not the type of individual to make those statements lightly. Next question. This one goes out to the Pro and Amateur players. What are you doing? Streaming? That’s nice, but it’s not contributing to a solution here. Retweeting The Halo Council? That’s a good start, but what else are you doing? Making plans to practice for 2012? That’s all well and good, but again, not contributing to a solution to our mutual problem. Before I go any further, I want to give an extra special THANK YOU(!) to everyone that has been a part of The Halo Council. Gandhi, Dmaq, Nexy, BestMan, Hammertime, and everyone else who contributes to that show. Some may argue with their methods, but they are the ones stepping up to the plate and defending the game that we all love to play! Next, I want to address something very important. Members of the Halo Council can’t do it alone. There are a large number of members of the Halo Community who are sitting there and doing NOTHING. You’re sitting at home and watching Gandhi, Nexy, Dmaq, and everyone else do the hard work that needs to be done here. That is just sickening, unfair, and insulting to those who are stepping up to the plate here. I won’t be calling players out, but you know exactly who you are. Have you contacted 343 Industries to tell them that you want to see Halo on the MLG Pro Circuit in 2012? Have you expressed your support for The Halo Council? I can already tell you that there a large number of you that haven’t said one word. You’re at home, scrimming with your teammates, and thinking that this will all blow over soon. If you keep thinking that, you’ll have nothing left to practice for. This is a call to the entire Halo Community: It’s past time to step it up!! Wake up and smell the Maple Nut Crunch. You’re game is in danger of being taken away from you. If any of you take issue with my words, I say this: “If I’m stepping on your toes, move your feet.” “What can I do?” -Contact 343 Industries and tell them that you want to see Halo on the MLG Pro Circuit in 2012. For example, you can find Jessica Shea, 343’s Community Director, on Twitter: @bsangel or David Ellis, @DavidEllis -Post in the Halo Waypoint forums that you want Halo in MLG 2012. http://halo.xbox.com MAKE…YOUR…VOICE…HEARD!!!! Sundance recently said that players are largely powerless in all of this. With all due respect, I dare say that he is wrong. If all 40,000 viewers of The Halo Council sent one, that’s right, one message to 343 Industries, I guarantee that your voice would be heard. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are powerless in all of this because it’s just not true. Strength in numbers, people. It’s not hard. We can stand together as a team...or we will die as individuals. The only question is, what are you doing? I’m MLG_redvsblue and that’s how I see it. 10. “The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” – Mark Twain On this past Tuesday night’s edition of vVv Gaming’s The Losers Bracket podcast, Halo was declared “dead” as a competitive title on the Major League Gaming Pro Circuit. To many a Halo fan, this does not make any sense. In this post, I will do my best to explain why Halo is, in fact, not dead, but in need of help. During the Losers Bracket interview with Major League Gaming CEO, Sundance DiGiovanni, the state of Halo heading into 2012 was discussed. Let’s be honest, it’s not great. Bungie developed the game, Halo: Reach, with a “last one out, hit the lights” approach. The developers had already signed an agreement for a currently unnamed multi-platform title with Activision. The looks on the faces of the developers indicated that they were very much ready to leave Halo behind and get to work on their mystery project. Halo: Reach had a great campaign, but multiplayer development was rushed and helped contribute to the mess that we find ourselves in now. Halo: Reach started strong online, but diminished gradually as players took issue with features such as bloom and armor abilities. Yet, the game still had a following in the Major League Gaming Pro Circuit, despite its flaws. Players were requesting that bloom be disabled, among other things to be improved upon to help make the game more competitive. Bungie did not express any remote interest in addressing this. Towards the end of the season, 343 Industries steps in and removes Bloom and Sprint. The MLG Halo Community rejoices. The MLG playlist population spikes in a huge way. Yet, less than 24 hours later, the game was declared “dead” and it’s status for the 2012 MLG Pro Circuit uncertain, which makes absolutely no sense. How do we, the MLG Halo Community, move forward from this? First of all, perpetuating the myth of Halo’s “death” as a competitive title must end. No Bloom/No Sprint debuted this past Monday evening in the MLG playlist. For some perspective, earlier Monday morning, the MLG playlist had roughly 260 players. After the No Bloom/No Sprint update: over 2,000. Does this sound like a dead title to you? No, it does not. Second, “The Halo Council,” an online show comprised of several popular personalities of the Major League Gaming Halo community, responded to what was said on the Losers Bracket. 40,000 people tuned in. During a business day. While fans, like me, were still at work. Does this sound like a “dead” title to you? Again, it does not. Clearly, while the rumors of Halo’s death have been immensely exaggerated, there are still issues remaining to be resolved. To the Halo Pro community, where are you? I look at your Twitter feeds and I see many of you talking about how great the newly updated playlist is. That’s all well and good, but where will that leave you when Halo is not on the Pro Circuit in 2012 because you didn’t speak up and fight for it? Where you will be then? To the members of the Halo Council, thank you for stepping up, but there are a few minor things that need to be changed. Stop making comments such as “my game’s better” and “we dress better.” Here’s the hard truth: No one cares about those details. They are a major distraction to the progress that needs to be made here. What needs to happen is every single pro, amateur, and spectator needs to make a business case to 343 Industries as to why Halo should be supported on the Major League Gaming Pro Circuit next year. 343 Industries is currently focusing their resources on Halo 4 and not MLG. If the community does not step up, the pros, amateurs, and fans get nothing in 2012. I know none of you want that to happen. Halo: Reach, for the first time, has a legitimate opportunity to be a competitive title on the Pro Circuit in 2012. But, it will not happen if the community continues to keep their head in the sand and think that it will all blow over, because it won’t. This is a challenge to the Halo community to rise up and defend the game you love. Let’s face it, if you didn’t love it, you wouldn’t be playing it on gaming’s biggest stage. The only real question is, will you accept the challenge? I’m MLG_redvsblue and that’s how I see it. Leave your feedback below or you can reach me on Twitter: @MLG_redvsblue
