About Me
I am a sophomore computer engineering student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. I am also an avid gamer and have been playing video games since the age of 5. In order to satisfy my unquenchable thirst for gaming, I joined the vVv Gaming community's League of Legends' division online in January of 2012. Since then I have been an active member in the community. The owner of vVv Gaming, Jerry Prochazka, is also now the Director of People at Riot Games. Under his recommendation, I applied to Riot.
League of Legends is by far my favorite game to play and talk about, and I have been playing it for about two and a half years (I joined just out of Beta) with the summoner's name vVv Torment.
Before I even entered my major at college, I always knew that I loved tackling complex problems. I've always been exceptional with my mathematical abilities, and I like to apply those skills to real life. I also knew that I loved computers. When I opened up my first computer, the circuitry was simply fascinating to me. Soon after, I learned that hardware wasn't all I was interested in. I used advanced software, such as Autodesk's 3DS max and Maya, to modify Blizzard's Warcraft III and create my own RTS based games. Custom games created in Warcraft III by innovators such as myself gave birth to the MOBA based game (DOTA, AOS, etc.) I went on to develop an Anime-based MOBA in Warcraft III called Bleach: The Shattered Blade. Unfortunately, the staff fell a part and the game never left the beta stages. However, I learned a great deal about teamwork, the design process, and management.
When I joined vVv Gaming, I quickly learned that Jerry assumes a Laissez-faire leadership role as the owner. He heavily encourages people to take the ideas they come up with and own it themselves. This means one must put in the work to make something happen in order to realize one's goals. I learned that taking ownership in one's ideas boosts one's pride and esteem encouraging oneself to work hard and enthusiastically. When I take ownership of my work, I actively participate in my work group, I work efficiently and enjoy my work, I communicate with my team members to stay on the same page, and I try to motivate my teammates to work enthusiastically as well. However, I am not a perfectionist. Many engineers are perfectionists, but I believe that it forces one to work on a single problem for far too long. I focus on getting my work done thoroughly and completely but also quickly.
