The Loser's Bracket - Round 111
Featuring special guests Jason "1" Lake, CEO/Founder of Complexity Gaming, and Shawn "Liquid`Sheth" Simon!

Complexity CEO and Founder Jason Lake appears as a guest on The Loser's Bracket to discuss his background, thoughts on the eSports world, and much more! Additionally, Shawn "Liquid`Sheth" Simon has returned from the MLG Spring Arena I and joins us to talk about the event, his time as an analyst, and his mindset. As a special bonus, Sheth even flips the tables on our hosts and takes over asking questions to them! Look below for detailed topics and time stamps for this episode!

Topics and highlights this week include:
  • Jason Lake, CEO and founder of Complexity Gaming, joins the podcast crew. Lake tells the story of how Complexity started and gives some of his personal history. (Time: 00:04:00)
  • How has Jason Lake been able to keep a passion for eSports and running Complexity through the controversy and issues over the years? (Time: 00:15:45)
  • How is Complexity today in 2012 for Jason Lake? (Time: 00:21:00)
  • Did Jason Lake see Team EG coming? Did it “help out” Evil Geniuses that Complexity was tied up in the CGS? (Time: 00:31:00)
  • Is it hard for Jason Lake to balance the desire for Complexity Gaming to be number one while also creating a sustainable business model? (Time: 00:37:00)
  • Paradise asks community questions to Jason Lake about different titles! Paradise asks Jason Lake about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, (Time: 00:43:30) Halo and the current state of the game, (Time: 00:45:30) and upcoming MMO titles such as Guild Wars 2 and Diablo III. (Time: 00:49:30)
  • What makes Jason Lake say “It’s not only about big” after discussing MMOs? (Time: 00:53:30)
  • Jerry asks Jason Lake about his show, The Executives. How did this show come to be? (Time: 00:56:30)
  • KeyHunt wraps up our interview with Jason Lake by asking about his staff at Complexity. How does Jason Lake keep his staff around so long? (Time: 01:03:00) Additionally, will Jason Lake be bringing back random acts of kindness anytime soon? (Time: 01:06:00)
  • As Jason Lake departs from the show, Shawn “LiquidSheth” Simon joins the crew to discuss his time at the MLG Arena. (Time: 01:11:00)
  • How did Sheth prepare for his first time as an analyst/caster for MLG? (Time: 01:14:30)
  • Did this feel like a natural transition for Sheth? Why did Shawn almost not attend the Arena? (Time: 01:18:30) Can we expect more commentary from Sheth in the future or is his focus still on playing Starcraft II? (Time: 01:20:45)
  • Coming in with the viewpoint of a player, how has Sheth’s mindset changed after the MLG arena? (Time: 01:22:15)
  • Sheth, the MannerBear, is known for his incredible composure and manners. How does he do it? Additionally, what helps Shawn keep such a positive outlook? (Time: 01:28:45)
  • Does it feel different being a part of a team that also has such a large community? Does it feel different than other teams that Sheth has been a part of? (Time: 01:34:30)
  • Paradise asks questions collected from the community! What keeps Sheth motivated as a professional Starcraft player? (Time: 01:39:00) How does Shawn recover from a major loss? Also, how does he approach practice? (Time: 01:41:00) Although he is a part of Liquid, does Sheth enjoy spending time with players from other teams? (Time: 01:44:50)
  • Sheth flips the entire show around as he says that he would like to ask our hosts questions! Shawn starts by asking Paradise how he feels to host The Loser’s Bracket. (Time: 01:51:00)
  • What does Jerry think of people who give “Very PC” answers to questions? (Time: 01:54:00)
  • Sheth sets up a hard hitting question for KeyHunt about players, skill, looks, and players that try their hearts out. How does Curt feel about a team that would send a player to an event based on looks, but would likewise not send players that are more skilled minus the looks? (Time: 02:01:30)

Enjoyable show, good seeing that the guest were pretty much active & I liked the fact Sheth took the liberty of asking the hosts some questions as well.
Keep it up.

Once again, just like every week, I am amazed by the quality of the podcast and of the people you guys bring onto it. Before listening to the show, I had no idea who Sheth was, and after the first 5 minutes I was like "WHY DON'T I KNOW THIS MAN?!" Very informative. I completely agree with EVERYONE who's been saying that this is the most underrated show ever. Keep on keepin' on.

I love how CoL.Lake and Co. are doing their best to keep CompLexity at the top and it was nice to hear stories from both Lake and Sheth.

I also did enjoy the moment where Sheth had fun become the host for a bit at the end and asking questions to Paradise, Keyhunt, and Jerry

what Soul said!

Sheth turning things around on our hosts was hilarious and a good thing that wouldn't be bad to try out every so often.

But yeah, all in all, great show, glad to see Complexity's CEO come on and LiquidSheth, hope to see either of them again (though I'm sure they'll be present at Anaheim!).
