You’ve waited three long years. You played the beta. You’re counting the days until the game releases. So are we. And we’ve got a surprise for you.
MLG and Epic Games are incredibly excited to announce that we will be streaming a Gears of War 3 Exhibition match live from the venue at MLG Raleigh. Gears of War 1 and 2 both had highly successful runs on the Pro Circuit, and we can’t wait to see how the third installment plays out. The match, which will use multiplayer maps that have received significant updates and changes since the beta, will be an exclusive, in-depth look at competitive GoW 3. We’re pulling out all the stops; we’ll be featuring the best team ever to play GoW on the Pro Circuit, and we’ll have the best commentators on hand to call the action.
The match will be aired live on the Halo: Reach stream at 8:15pm ET on Friday, August 26.

• The Teams:
  • Th3 Nsan3z, 2008 GoW 1 Pro Circuit National Champions and 2009 GoW 2 Pro Circuit National Champions (Predator, Killa, Nickmercs, Zkiller)
  • Team Epic (Donald White, Alex Connor, Richard Wilt, Jonathan Taylor)
• The Maps: Thrashball, Trenches
• The Format: Three full games will be played on LAN
• The Commentators:
  • MLG’s very own Chris Puckett will host the event and give running commentary
  • Arctyc, Epic Games consultant and Captain of GoW team Amayzn, will be our color commentary specialist
  • Quinn DelHoyo will join us from Epic Games to provide expert background on GoW 3’s Game Types, weapons, and maps

The game releases worldwide on Sept. 20, 2011, but you don’t have to wait until then to see it in action. In addition to the match, we’ll be streaming trailers, exclusive gameplay footage, and more.Come to Raleigh or tune in to the broadcast and you will be among the very first to find out exactly what Gears 3 has in store for the world of competitive gaming!

It would be Friday right during the time I'm busy. Oh well, guess I'll have to catch it on the DVR when I get back. Of course it says the format is "three full games played on LAN." Isn't that kinda obvious? I thought they'd at least say like Execution or TDM or something.

Yeah there was a hint at this a few days ago on Puckett's twitter. (@MLGPuckett) No, but I'm excited for this along with most of you. I just think it should have been get Bronco. And I wish they were using checkout and/or old town, because I'm pretty sure those were the "fan favs" from the beta. But either way LFG!!

and lol @ the post that said arctyc has done a lot for the GoW community. He hasn't done anything but promote a shitty zyn brand and hype up 12 pages talking about why being in a 3v4 is bad.

You're pretty spiteful against one of the nicest guys in the game.

You may not like their clan, but out right hating on pros who conduct themselves in the right way is just ridiculous. He is one of the few players to ever win an event in Gears and has been t8 since GoW1, there's no reason he shouldn't be commentating.

They should've got another "pro" team to play instead of the developers. Those who care to even watch this want to see how it plays at a high level, not a " here's some guys that made it against the guys that played it. " It's stupid.

I have no problem with Arctic commentating. To be honest, if I was going to pick someone involved with MLG Gears in the past to provide color commentary, he'd probably be the one I'd choose. Some people might think he is only looking out for himself, but I don't think that's the case.

I do think it would have been cool to see two actual teams play, but I'm not going to complain on anything MLG is doing with this, or who they chose for what. The fact they did it at all is great, and I'm looking forward to it.
