  1. The Baltimore Ravens provided quarterback Joe Flacco with two new potential targets Wednesday Harold Landry Color Rush Jersey , agreeing to terms with wide receivers Ryan Grant and John Brown on the first day of free agency. Addressing a position that is a top priority this offseason, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome added a pair of 27-year-olds he hopes can improve a passing attack that last year ranked 27th in the NFL. To help make room for the newcomers, Newsome freed an estimated $5 million in salary cap space by cutting receiver Jeremy Maclin. Grant has played in 64 games, including 15 starts, with the Washington Redskins. The 2014 fifth-round draft pick out of Tulane set career highs in 2017 with 45 catches for 573 yards and four touchdowns. Brown has played four NFL seasons, all with Arizona. Selected in the third round of the 2014 draft, Brown has 173 career catches for 2,515 yards and 17 TDs. The contracts are pending the passing of physicals. Grant reportedly received a four-year contract and Brown agreed to a one-year pact. The Ravens are counting on Grant to continue the improvement he showed last season. Though he has never had a 100-yard receiving game and has scored only six career touchdowns, he ranked second on the Redskins in 2017 in catches and TD receptions. Brown's best season was in 2015, when he had 65 catches for 1,003 yards and seven scores. After a season in which Baltimore's wideouts totaled 11 touchdown receptions, the team made no secret of its desire to bolster the receiving corps. "We will be exploring all options in free agency and in the draft for targets for Joe (Flacco)," owner Steve Bisciotti said. That was a focus last season, too Leighton Vander Esch Jersey Elite , but Maclin did not live up to expectations. Baltimore signed Maclin as a free agent in June, hopeful the accomplished pass catcher would regain the form he showed in 2015 with Kansas City, when he had 87 catches for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns. But Maclin missed two games with a shoulder injury, two more with knee issues, and finished with only 40 catches for 440 yards and three touchdowns. That, along with the poor performance of 2015 first-round pick Breshad Perriman (10 catches, 77 yards, no TDs), left the Ravens looking for speed outside after finishing 9-7 and missing the playoffs for a third straight season. Mike Wallace, who had 52 catches for a team-high 748 yards in 2017, became a free agent Wednesday. It is unclear whether the Ravens will attempt to bring him back the 31-year-old, nine-year pro. Newsome's pursuit of top-tier free agent receivers has been hindered by a tight salary cap, which likely contributed to Allen Robinson and Sammy Watkins signing with other teams. In an effort to free up salary-cap space Dalton Schultz Color Rush Jersey , Newsome earlier this week cut running back Danny Woodhead and did not pick up the option on right tackle Austin Howard. Maclin, Woodhead and Howard were all acquired before the 2017 season. Also on Wednesday, the Ravens extended tenders to seven exclusive-rights free agents, the most notable running back Alex Collins, the team's leading rusher last year. The players still have to sign their tenders, but cannot negotiate with any other teams. Johan Camargo came up big from the bottom of the Atlanta Braves‘ lineup. The No. 9 batter hit his first career grand slam and went 4 for 5 with five RBIs, and the Braves beat the Blue Jays 11-4 on Tuesday night to snap Toronto’s home winning streak at seven games. The bottom four hitters in Atlanta’s lineup, DH Kurt Suzuki, outfielders Charlie Culberson and Ender Inciarte, and third baseman Camargo, went 11 for 18 with five doubles and two home runs. ”When guys are doing that it always looks really good,” manager Brian Snitker said. Atlanta set season highs with seven doubles and 10 extra-base hits. ”This team is just really good up and down the lineup,” Camargo said through a translator. Camargo hit his seventh home run off Jaime Garcia (2-6) in the second, singled in the fourth Panthers Elite Jerseys , hit an RBI single in the fifth and doubled and scored in the eighth. He struck out in the ninth. Culberson hit a solo homer and Inciarte had three hits and three RBIs as the Braves won for the sixth time in seven games. Reliever Sam Freeman (2-3) worked 2 1/3 innings for the victory. Making his first start in Canada, Calgary-born right-hander Mike Soroka was replaced one out from qualifying for the win. ”He threw some good sinkers but a lot of stuff was right down the middle,” Snitker said. Soroka allowed four runs and eight hits, including six doubles, in 4 2/3 innings. ”It was everything I imagined, for sure, coming out there and seeing a lot of Canadians, a lot of Canadian flags,” Soroka said. ”Hearing the anthem was pretty special, too.” Soroka took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of his previous outing, June 13 against the New York Mets, but started this one by giving up a double to Blue Jays outfielder Curtis Granderson. Toronto put runners at second and third with two outs in the first but left-fielder Culberson made a great running catch on Kevin Pillar’s line drive before crashing hard into the video board section of the outfield wall. Culberson went down briefly but stayed in the game. ”That’s one of the first holy cow plays I saw,” a grateful Soroka said. ”I definitely owe him dinner.” Garcia retired the first five batters in order before Kurt Suzuki’s double in the second. Culberson and Inciarte walked and Garcia fell behind 2-0 on Camargo before giving up a towering shot that landed in the third deck. ”It was really kind of a special moment, something I’ll never forget Authentic Nico Hischier Jersey ,” Camargo said. Culberson connected off Garcia to begin the third before Inciarte and Camargo chased Garcia with consecutive singles. Garcia allowed five runs and five hits in three-plus innings, failing to finish the fourth for the second time in four starts. The left-hander has lost six straight decisions and is winless since April 17 against Kansas City, his third start of the season. ”It’s frustrating,” Garcia said. ”I feel like I’m letting my team down.” OSUNA UPDATE A lawyer for Blue Jays RHP Roberto Osuna said Monday that his client will plead not guilty to charges of assault. After he was arrested and charged May 8, Osuna was placed on administrative leave. On Monday, baseball extended Osuna’s leave through June 25. Osuna’s lawyer was in court Monday. The case is set to resume July 9. URGENT CARE Snitker was asked what he thought when Culberson went down following his collision with the wall. ”I was wondering if I’m going to be able to make it out there,” Snitker joked. ”He’d be healed by the time I get there.” TRAINER’S ROOM Braves: OF Ronald Acuna (left knee) has taken batting practice and run the past two days in workouts at Atlanta’s spring training facility in Florida. Snitker said the highly touted Acuna should begin a rehab assignment ”sooner rather than later.” Blue Jays: RHP Marcus Stroman (shoulder) threw a 75-pitch simulated game Monday after his scheduled start at Double-A New Hampshire was rained out. Stroman is expected to rejoin the Blue Jays rotation during the coming weekend’s road series against the Angels. … OF Steve Pearce (strained left oblique) went 1 for 3 with a home run at Triple-A Buffalo, playing five innings in left field. Pearce was the DH in his previous two rehab games with the Bisons, Saturday and Sunday. … Toronto put RHP Sam Gaviglio on the paternity list and promoted INF Lourdes Gurriel Jr. from Buffalo. UP NEXT Braves RHP Anibal Sanchez (3-0, 1.93) faces Blue Jays LHP J.A. Happ (8-3, 3.48) in Wednesday afternoon’s series finale. Sanchez faced Toronto twice last season, allowing 12 runs in 10 2/3 innings. Happ is 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA in three June starts. — .
  2. DALLAS COWBOYS (9-7) OPEN CAMP: July 26 Isaiah Oliver Jersey Falcons , Oxnard, California LAST YEAR: Cowboys missed playoffs year after dynamic rookie tandem of QB Dak Prescott and RB Ezekiel Elliott fueled Dallas to NFC-best 13 wins. Elliott's six-game suspension during season over domestic violence allegations was big reason. Prescott's performance dipped after winning NFL Offensive Rookie of Year in 2016. Offensive line was less consistent than usual. Defense was solid but not spectacular. IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: LB Leighton Vander Esch, WR Allen Hurns, G Connor Williams, WR Tavon Austin, WR Michael Gallup, TE Dalton Schultz, T Cameron Fleming, secondary coach/passing game coordinator Kris Richard. IMPORTANT LOSSES: TE Jason Witten, WR Dez Bryant Adidas Jakub Voracek Jersey , LB Anthony Hitchens, CB Orlando Scandrick. CAMP NEEDS: Cowboys need to sort out jumbled picture at receiver and tight end after dumping Bryant in cost-cutting move and somewhat surprising retirement of Witten, who went into broadcasting. WR Terrance Williams broke foot and was arrested during tumultuous offseason when Cowboys needed to know if he could take Bryant's place atop receiving depth chart. Barring unexpected resurgence from six-year veteran, replacing Bryant will fall to Hurns and collection of rookies, other young players. Geoff Swaim likely to get first crack at replacing Witten, but Dallas likes Blake Jarwin. LB Jaylon Smith needs to show explosiveness in second season since recovery from major knee injury in college. Sean Lee needs to stay healthy. Without those developments, heavy responsibility could fall on Vander Esch as rookie. EXPECTATIONS: Coach Jason Garrett has two playoff appearances and one postseason win in seven full seasons. Elliott saga and untimely injuries, particularly to offensive line, gave him pass last season. Hard to imagine owner Jerry Jones sticking with him if Cowboys miss playoffs again, particularly after offseason overhaul of coaching staff. Healthy and eligible Elliott figures to be factor in NFL rushing race after leading league as rookie two years ago. Elliott still led league in yards rushing per game during suspension-marred season. Prescott wasn't as good at protecting ball year after rookie record for passer rating. Cowboys want him to feed off Elliott-powered running game. Dallas believes young talent in secondary can help defense make difference. Cowboys could use repeat from DeMarcus Lawrence Calvin Ridley Falcons Jersey , who finished second in NFL with 14陆 sacks last season and will play on franchise tag. Lawrence needs help, and prime candidate would be Taco Charlton, last year's first-round pick. Throughout its offseason team activities, the Seattle Seahawks appeared to be settled at safety. Bradley McDougald would just continue his role from a year ago stepping in as a full-time starter alongside Earl Thomas. That was before Thomas decided to take his demands for a new contract to the extreme by holding out, creating an unexpected competition and a bit of chaos in Seattle's defensive backfield. With Thomas missing, Seattle's safeties are a revolving door of combinations trying to find the pairing that makes the most sense ahead of the Sept. 9 opener at Denver. The process of seeing how all those combinations look gets its first true examination next Thursday when the Seahawks open the preseason against Indianapolis. "These guys, they kind of joined forces in the offseason and kind of as a group, they knew they were up against it and wanted to make sure that they were going to give everything they had and put it all on the line," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. "Bradley McDougald has done a great job of being the leader in that group and it's a good, tight group and they're ready to take on the challenge of getting through camp and getting through all of the learning and the experience that's necessary here is all part of the process Gregor Blanco Jersey , but their attitude is really strong and they're really determined to do something with this." McDougald is almost certain to claim one of the positions. Which one is the question. He filled in as both free and strong safety last year when injuries sidelined Thomas and Kam Chancellor. McDougald was the starting strong safety after Chancellor was lost for the season in early November to a neck injury. That doesn't mean McDougald will be the strong safety. Throughout the first week of training camp, Seattle has rotated its safeties in both positions in an attempt to see how interchangeable the players can be. "They have the opportunity to show themselves and it's a lot of competition," defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. said. "Great communication, it's showing up every day. Doing extra work, asking a lot of good questions. But, this is their chance to really step up and show us what they have." With McDougald seemingly a cinch to take one of the safety spots, the remaining position appears to be a four-way competition between Tedric Thompson, Delano Hill, Maurice Alexander and Mike Tyson. And it's Thompson and Hill that appear to be getting the most opportunity early on. It makes sense Seattle would give Thompson and Hill the most reps. The Seahawks invested major draft capital in the pair a year ago, taking Hill in the third round and Thompson in the fourth round. They were allowed to spend last season learning behind Thomas and Chancellor with the idea they could eventually take over for the veteran Seahawks safeties. The replacement has arrived sooner than expected http://www.giantsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-b.j.-hill-jersey , accelerated by Thomas' holdout. "Earl is a special, special player. At the same time, the guys that are here are working really hard and competing and they have the opportunity to show what they can do," Norton said. From a look standpoint, Thompson fits the mold of a free safety and Hill looks more like a strong safety. But each is working at both positions as Seattle often adjusts its safety alignments based off the offensive formation. Neither has the sideline-to-sideline speed of Thomas, but Norton has said Seattle's scheme won't change. "I view it as competing. First game is a little ways to go. I've got a lot to improve on," Thompson said. "I don't focus on if I'm starting today or not starting today. We all get the same amount of reps so it's all about competing." .

He had two sacks in 14 games, including six starts, with the Buccaneers last season. He was selected by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2015 draft out of Purdue Authentic Brian Allen Jersey , but appeared in just one game for the Cowboys. Buffalo freed up room on its roster on Sunday by releasing Owa Odighizuwa, an offseason free agent addition. Odighizuwa was attempting to resume his career after missing all of last season, when he was cut by the New York Giants shortly after being issued a four-game NFL suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancers. The Bills opened training camp Thursday by signing defensive tackle John Hughes. Injuries have depleted Buffalo's depth at tight end. Nick O'Leary missed practice Sunday because of an injury to his right foot. Logan Thomas did not return to practice Sunday after hurting his shoulder. 4. While the Chicago Bears gave their offense a makeover Authentic P.J. Hall Jersey , their defense looks awfully familiar. That’s just the way they wanted it. The Bears are banking on continuity to turn a top-10 defense into an elite unit and help a struggling franchise emerge as a contender. ”I think it’s huge,” cornerback Prince Amukamara said. ”You look at all the great defenses the last couple of years – the 49ers, Seattle, Denver – you see a lot of those core pieces stick together and that’s what we’re trying to do here.” The Bears spent the offseason making sweeping changes on offense in an effort to get the most out of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and lift a team with four straight last-place finishes in the NFC North. They hired coach Matt Nagy to replace the fired John Fox. They also gave their prized quarterback some new play-making options, signing former Pro Bowl receiver Allen Robinson from Jacksonville and Philadelphia tight end Trey Burton. With the moves, the Bears believe they are positioning themselves to end this losing run. It doesn’t hurt, either, to have a strong defense. Chicago drafted a potential cornerstone player when it took Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith with the No. 8 overall pick. But the Bears largely maintained continuity despite the head coaching change. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio interviewed for that job and was free to go elsewhere with an expiring contract. But he chose to re-sign after Nagy was hired. That was a big relief to the Bears and their fans, considering the strides the defense made in his first three years. That group has gone from ranking among the worst in franchise history to a top-10 unit last season. But the Bears still need a few more playmakers to emerge if they’re going to become the modern day ”Monsters of the Midway.” ”I think we’ve need to go back out there and fix the little things that we did wrong last year and hopefully make it into the top five,” defensive end Akiem Hicks said. ”That was my goal going into OTAs and it’s still my goal now.” Chicago’s defense ranked 10th overall last season, seventh against the pass Authentic Frank Ragnow Jersey , ninth in scoring and 11th against the run. The Bears also tied for seventh in sacks despite injuries to several players, including linebacker Leonard Floyd. But when it came to forcing turnovers, the results were mixed for Chicago. The Bears led the league with 14 fumble recoveries. But with eight interceptions, only two teams picked off fewer passes. That’s something safety Eddie Jackson thinks will change in his second NFL season. ”We play to each other’s strengths,” he said. ”We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses coming into Year 2, so we play to our strengths. We can freestyle a lot of things. If Kyle (Fuller) sees something on film, and it shows up in the game, he’ll come to me like, `Eddie, have me over the top, I’m going to break on this.’ If Prince sees something like that DJ Chark Youth Jersey , we can adjust to each other.” The Bears picked off a total of 24 passes in Fangio’s first three years – a franchise-low eight each season. By comparison, San Francisco averaged 19.5 interceptions in his four seasons as coordinator and led the NFL with 23 in 2014. ”I think it’s all about just making the plays that you can,” Amukamara said. ”We have a saying in the defense room, `You catch the balls that they throw to you.’ You catch the ones they throw to you and you’ll lead the league in interceptions. … . I think it’s just being opportunistic and just taking advantage of making those plays.” Amukamara broke up seven passes without an interception last season, his first in Chicago. But he comes into this season more familiar with the scheme and how offenses will try to attack it. And he thinks that will lead to more big plays for the defense. ”Just being in this defense you kind of know how an offense is going to attack us because we’ve been running the coverages so long. We kind of know what to expect beforehand.” Notes: Smith remains unsigned and missed his third practice. … G Kyle Long was back practicing after a scheduled day off Saturday. … LBs Danny Trevathan (hamstring), Aaron Lynch (hamstring) and Joel Iyiegbuniwe (shoulder) sat out, as did CB Sherrick McManis (hamstring) and TE Daniel Brown (ankle) did not participate. — SAN FRANCISCO — One hot pitcher and one who hopes he’s heating up go head-to-head Wednesday night when the Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants continue their three-game series. The Giants outlasted the Rockies in a pitchers’ duel in the opener Tuesday night, with a bases-loaded walk plating the winning run in the eighth, one inning after starters Derek Holland and Chad Bettis had exited a 1-1 game. San Francisco, seeking a fourth straight win, will send Madison Bumgarner (1-2 Michael Brantley Jersey , 3.20 ERA) to the mound Wednesday. The four-time All-Star recorded his first win of the season in his last start, rewarded for pitching eight shutout innings against the San Diego Padres on Thursday. Bumgarner has made 26 career starts against the Rockies, going 12-7 with a 3.05 ERA. He will be seeking to continue a stretch of brilliant pitching by the Giants, who have given up three or fewer runs in nine of their last 12 games. The starting staff has performed so well, Giants manager Bruce Bochy admitted he’s not sure what the team’s going to do when injured rotation regulars Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija are deemed healthy enough to return. That day is expected soon, especially with Samardzija, who has already made three injury-rehab appearances in the minors. “I think you look at the way the rotation has been throwing the ball, it’s not going to be easy,” Bochy said of who, if anybody, gets displaced. “But we knew this would be coming when Jeff’s ready and Johnny’s ready.” A matchup with the Rockies means Bumgarner will have to deal with hot-hitting Nolan Arenado Jason Sanders Color Rush Jersey , but it’s been Carlos Gonzalez who has given the Giants’ lefty the most trouble over the years. Gonzalez has five career homers against Bumgarner, the most anybody’s hit against the San Francisco ace. Arenado has two career homers against Bumgarner. The Giants not only will have to deal with Gonzalez and Arenado, but also with impressive Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland (7-6, 3.55), who already has beaten San Francisco twice this season. Facing the Giants twice in a 12-day stretch in May, Freeland allowed them four runs and 13 hits in 12 innings in 6-1 and 11-4 wins. The 25-year-old has gone 2-1 in June after a 4-1 May that included the two wins over the Giants. Freeland has started six times in his career against the Giants, going 4-2 with a 3.15 ERA. He’s 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA in two career starts in San Francisco. Freeland can expect to see Hunter Pence in the Giants’ lineup Wednesday. Pence has been relegated to part-time duties when not injured this season, but has come through big-time in his last two starts and has a history against Freeland. Pence collected two hits and two RBIs in a 6-5 win over Miami last Wednesday, then had a double and two more RBIs in a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Pence has faced Freeland eight times in his career, going 4-for-7 with a walk. .
  5. Warriors general manager Bob Myers expects swift negotiations to re-sign two-time reigning NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant and coach Steve Kerr. Durant could sign for as long as four years and about $160 million http://www.packersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jaire-alexander-jersey , and Myers is prepared to give him ”whatever he wants.” Durant has said all along he wants to stay put, especially after winning a pair of championships in his first two seasons with Golden State. ”Sometimes you don’t negotiate. I’d love to have him for 10 years. Kevin Durant, look what he did for us last year, he did us a great service,” Myers said. ”He’s earned the right to sign whatever deal he wants. I just want him to sign a deal. But want him to be happy and want him to know that we want him as long as he wants to be here. He’s earned that, to kind of lay out the terms. He can do whatever he wants. That shouldn’t be a long negotiation. Our goal Josh Allen Bills Jersey , to be honest, is to try to keep the whole thing together, so that’s the pieces of the puzzle we’ve got to try to figure out.” Kerr has one year remaining on his original five-year contract, so he would receive a multiyear extension – and Kerr wants to coach Golden State for the long haul, perhaps for another decade if he can. He doesn’t expect any difficulties in getting a deal worked out. ”We’ll get that done pretty quick, I don’t think it’ll be much to it Hernan Perez Milwaukee Brewers Jersey ,” Kerr said. Myers wants to keep as much of the core of the two-time defending champions intact while also realizing the Warriors will be a younger team without the same veteran presence as the group that just swept LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to finish the finals Friday. Working to try to extend the contracts of Draymond Green and Klay Thompson could be discussed as well. ”Sure, guys have proven they can win so you want to keep that group together,” Myers said. ”I have no idea how that’ll play out. It’s a lot of different conversations that have to take place and if that’s something that we want to look into I’m sure we could have those – Klay’s got another year, Draymond’s got two more. Kevin’s really the free agent we have to focus on.” After a regular season that was anything but steady, with Stephen Curry limited by injuries to 51 regular-season games, losing seven of 10 late Sampo Ranta Blackhawks Jersey , all four All-Stars out at the same time for health reasons, the Warriors on Tuesday will again host that victory parade in downtown Oakland they planned for all along – their third in four years. Kerr stayed healthy and on the bench while continuing to deal with symptoms stemming from a pair of back surgeries following the 2015 title. ”I’m sure if you’re around our players and talk to them, they make no bones about it, they love playing for him and they love going through this journey with him,” Myers said of Kerr. Key reserve David West is contemplating retirement, telling Kerr and Myers during exit interviews he will take some time to decide. West said after the title clincher that the team went through things behind the scenes that would be surprising if revealed. ”I don’t know if anything would really blow your mind but it was a difficult season and there were lots of moments where it became more difficult Ryan McMahon Colorado Rockies Jersey ,” Kerr said. ”I didn’t think it was anything unusual given the state of our team, what we’ve been through and the length of this journey. Nothing to me was that, like, shocking but yeah we went through some stuff. … For sure this was the toughest of the four (years).” Myers also downplayed any tension or turmoil that took place privately. ”Certain challenges, some were apparent, some not http://www.cardinalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-josh-rosen-jersey ,” Myers said. Kerr plans to take it easy for the next several months and not work much as Myers handles the contracts and money, while leaving summer league coaching duties to Willie Green. It’s still sinking in for Kerr just how much success the Warriors have had during this four-year stretch since he became coach ahead of the 2014-15 season. ”I never could have envisioned this. I know when I took this job I thought we could be really good,” Kerr said. ”I could never have dreamt of three titles in four years. It’s pretty incredible to be a part of the group and the organization.” — The New York Jets have signed veteran safety J.J. Wilcox for depth after special teams standout Rontez Miles had surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Linebacker Freddie Bishop was waived Wednesday to make room on the roster for Wilcox. Wilcox was a third-round draft pick of Dallas out of Georgia Southern in 2013. He played four seasons with the Cowboys and signed with Tampa Bay last offseason. Wilcox was traded by the Buccaneers to Pittsburgh shortly before the regular season and had nine tackles and an interception for the Steelers, who released him in April. ESPN reported that Wilcox visited San Francisco but left there without signing. Miles is the Jets’ longest-tenured defensive player and a key member of the special teams unit but could be sidelined several months. He practiced during the first organized team activities session open to the media two weeks ago but was spotted last week with a sleeve on his left leg. NFL Network first reported Miles’ knee surgery. — .
  6. It’s a quick turnaround for the Golden State Warriors as they get ready for Game 1 of the NBA Finals. The Warriors had to go on the road Monday night to beat Houston and win the Western Conference title. And on Thursday Authentic Rasmus Dahlin Jersey , they’ll be back at home playing host to Cleveland Cavaliers in their fourth consecutive matchup in the NBA’s title series. So it’s been a bit harried. But that’s fine with Warriors coach Steve Kerr. ”I’d rather do it this way than have nine days to prepare,” Kerr said on the “Podcast One Sports Now” show previewing Game 1 of the NBA Finals with host Tim Reynolds. ”You get stale. We’ve had that.” That won’t be an issue in this series for either team. The Cavs also went the distance in their conference finals, needing seven games to top Boston. Also on the podcast: Cavs coach Tyronn Lue talks about his health and ESPN’s Doris Burke breaks down the series – including why she roots for both LeBron James and Kevin Durant. It was a bittersweet night for rookie center Mark Jankowski. Jankowski scored four times, and the Calgary Flames finished off a disappointing season with a 7-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. ”Not the way we wanted it to end, we want to keep on playing, but definitely a building year,” said the 23-year-old Jankowski Denard Span Seattle Mariners Jersey , who had just three points in his previous 18 games. ”I just take everything I learned this year from all the vets and use that as fuel in the summer to come back into camp and even better player.” Calgary entered the night in an offensive funk, having mustered only nine goals over the previous nine games, eight of them losses. The seven goals was the club’s biggest offensive outburst since a 7-4 victory over St. Louis on Nov. 13. ”It’s one of those things. Tonight, for some reason, everything bounced in and I think we could have had even more,” Flames captain Mark Giordano said. ”It’s nice to end it on that note, but it’s been a tough year and obviously a disappointing year.” Before the game http://www.steelersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-terrell-edmunds-jersey , players from both teams and the officials formed a circle at center ice for a moment of silence for the 15 people who lost their lives in the Humboldt Broncos bus accident. ”You have those guys, that community, the team, on your mind all day,” Giordano said. ”We’re one big community, the hockey community, there’s a lot of people feeling this one.” Afterward Authentic Sam Darnold Jersey , the Saddledome crowd broke into a chant of ”Broncos! Broncos!” ”We talked a lot to our guys about the emotion and the purity of the game,” Flames coach Glen Gulutzan said. ”Just think about the young men on that bus, who would love to be in the seats that we are. That was their goal and we wanted to play as well as we can to honor that.” Spencer Foo, Garnet Hathaway and Johnny Gaudreau also scored for the Flames (37-35-10), who missed the playoffs for the seventh time in the past nine seasons. A big factor was Calgary’s 17-20-4 home record, its worst mark since 2000-01. Cody Eakin scored for Vegas (51-24-7), which finished first in the Pacific Division and will open the playoffs on home ice against Los Angeles. Vegas is the first modern-era expansion team in any of the four North America pro spots to win its division in its first season. ”Right from the start it’s been a fun season Bradley Chubb Color Rush Jersey ,” goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury said. ”It’s fun to be a part of this team and this organization through it all. I’m really proud of the way this team has done throughout the season. Playoffs are fun, intense, exciting. I’m looking forward to getting it going.” Golden Knights veteran James Neal was impressed at how quickly the team gelled after being thrown together at the expansion draft. ”What impressed me most about our group is the consistency we played with, the way we rolled four lines, we counted on each player and needed each guy every night and every guy brought their game,” he said. Down 3-0 after the first period, Vegas scored 51 seconds into the second. But the Flames responded with three more unanswered goals before the period ended. Jankowski secured his first NHL hat trick with a short-handed goal at 18:06 Cheap Saquon Barkley Jersey , bringing over 100 hats raining down onto the ice. He completed the scoring at 1:32 of the third. It was Calgary’s first power-play goal in 14 games, snapping a 0-for-35 skid. Jon Gillies had 26 stops for Calgary. Fleury gave up six goals on 18 shots before being replaced to start the third period. Malcolm Subban had 12 stops in relief. NOTES: Both teams wore Humboldt Broncos decals on their helmet. The Flames also announced they were donating their $84,055 half of the 50/50 prize pot to those affected by Friday’s tragedy. UP NEXT Golden Knights: Face Los Angeles in the first round of the playoffs. Flames: Offseason. .
  7. When Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold entered the team’s new practice facility a couple of weeks ago Josh Allen Jersey Elite , the organizational motto was staring him in the face. So was the advice he should make a change in the front office, despite his fondness of general manager Chuck Fletcher. ”It’s the first thing you see when you walk in the door: `Good is not good enough,”’ Leipold said. ”I felt that was a signal for me.” The Wild split with Fletcher after nine seasons and only two playoff series wins, a decision – ”very agonizing,” Leipold said – that the 25-year veteran of NHL management would not have his contract renewed was delivered in a Monday morning meeting. ”I wanted a new set of eyes on this team,” Leipold said. The Wild have six straight postseason appearances, matching the longest current streak in the Western Conference with the Anaheim Ducks, but they have not reached the second round since 2015. They were only 15-29 in playoff games during Fletcher’s tenure, enough evidence that the roster wasn’t built well enough for all the success the team has enjoyed in the regular season. ”Right now I just don’t see us with this team getting to the championship series. I just don’t see it,” Leipold said. ”I think we’re a good team. I really do, and I just talked to our players about this. They’re a good team, but they’re not good enough right now.” Since Fletcher stunned the NHL by signing left wing Zach Parise and defenseman Ryan Suter, the market’s most-coveted free agents in 2012, the Wild have been a runaway success on the business side with sellouts at Xcel Energy Center as routine as the aroma of mini donuts and the swish of the skates on the ice. The fans have been frustrated by the postseason plateau http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-p.j.-hall-jersey , though, and Leipold bluntly acknowledged he dismissed Fletcher in part to appease the customers. ”The fans deserve to win one here,” Leipold said. ”This is the state of hockey, and I’m really confident that we’re going to have candidates that are interested in coming here because of our fans, because of our market, because of our team. I’m energized by the opportunity to talk to some of these people.” Leipold, who purchased the Wild the year before hiring Fletcher, said the move was unrelated to the Wild’s early exit this year. They lost in five games in the first round to the Winnipeg Jets, after being ousted in five games in 2017 by the St. Louis Blues. Last year, Leipold declined to extend Fletcher’s deal. ”My antenna’s been up,” Leipold said. ”Chuck and I have had numerous conversations all year. I wanted to wait until the end of the year to assess everything, to understand how I feel about where we’re going. Are we still in the window to win the Stanley Cup? I believe we are. He believed we are. But my personal feeling was that I wanted someone new to come in and kind of shake it up.” Leipold said he won’t order a significant rebuild, nor does he believe that’s necessary for postseason progress. He added he would not hire a general manager who recommended a long-haul approach to hoisting the Stanley Cup. ”We were sixth overall two years ago. We were eighth overall this year,” coach Bruce Boudreau said. ”We’ve got an awful lot of good Denard Span Seattle Mariners Jersey , moving parts there. We’ll tweak it a little bit, and we’ll be better.” The Wild haven’t struggled enough to get a game-changer in the draft, with Matt Dumba in 2012 (seventh) and Mikael Granlund in 2010 (ninth) the only top-10 picks that Fletcher and his staff had. The rival Jets, for example, picked up Patrik Laine with the second overall selection in 2016 and watched him finish second in the NHL with 44 goals in 2017-18 while the team posted the second-best record in the league. In one way, the Parise-Suter signings for 13 years and $98 million each have worked against the Wild considering they account for 20 percent of their salary cap space and are on the books for seven more seasons. But Suter had a career-high 45 assists, before breaking his right ankle with four games left in the regular season, and Parise was one of the team’s best forwards down the stretch with 12 goals in the last 19 games. He scored in all three playoff games before breaking his sternum. Trades that didn’t pan out under Fletcher have hurt the Wild more than any free-agent signing or first-round draft pick. Charlie Coyle is all that’s left from the deal that sent defenseman Brent Burns to San Jose in 2011, and Coyle didn’t notch a goal or an assist in the series against the Jets. The trade last summer that sent Jason Pominville and Marco Scandella to Buffalo for Marcus Foligno and Tyler Ennis didn’t wind up helping. So Fletcher’s successor will eventually go to work on a roster that produced a goal-less streak of 141:27 to end the series with Winnipeg. ”If you look at the teams moving on, the teams that are winning, they’re scoring and playing at a pretty fast pace,” Parise said. ”We’ve got to get to that level.” — This was a bonus win for Sofia Goggia. Having packed away the World Cup downhill title a day earlier, Goggia claimed victory in the final super-G of the season on Thursday. Goggia dominated, finishing 0.32 seconds ahead of Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany. Meanwhile http://www.buccaneersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jordan-whitehead-jersey , Tina Weirather successfully defended her discipline title. ”It’s crazy because I wasn’t even thinking about this race,” Goggia said. ”After Korea (where she won Olympic downhill gold) I had made winning the downhill title my goal. So I was exhausted yesterday after achieving that. ”But today I felt good and I had hardly any problems on the way down, without any pressure whatsover,” the Italian added. ”This just rounds things off.” Also, Vincent Kriechmayr made it two wins in two days by taking the final men’s super-G. In a shortened race, the Austrian finished a narrow 0.04 seconds ahead of Christof Innerhofer, while Aksel Lund Svindal and Thomas Dressen tied for third, 0.08 behind. Kjetil Jansrud, the Norwegian who had already clinched the season-long discipline title, finished sixth. Lindsey Vonn was faster than Goggia at the first checkpoint but lost her balance briefly midway down and finished third, 0.53 behind. ”It’s nice to close out the season with a podium in super-G and to end the season on a high note,” said Vonn, who achieved only one other podium result in the discipline this season – a victory in Val d’Isere, France http://www.vikingsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-kendall-wright-jersey , in December. Vonn’s focus for next season will on breaking Ingemar Stenmark’s record of 86 World Cup wins. Her victory on Wednesday in the downhill was her 82nd. ”I’m four (wins) behind and I feel like I’m in a good place, picking up steam, confident and relatively healthy, so that will be my focus from here on out,” Vonn said. Weirather finished sixth, while Lara Gut, the only skier who had a chance of catching the skier from Lichtenstein, lost control early in her run. Ester Ledecka, the surprise Olympic super-G champion, also went out early. Weirather ended the season with an 86-point advantage over Gut. Anna Veith placed third, 122 points behind. Weirather’s second title adds to a large family haul that includes seven small crystal globes won by her mother, Hanni Wenzel, three for her uncle, Andreas Wenzel Sam Darnold Jets Jersey , and one by her father, Harti Weirather. It was the fifth win of Goggia’s World Cup career. Attacking a course set by her coach Giovanni Rulfi, Goggia bowed to the crowd upon seeing her time in the finish area. It was a sparse crowd, though, on a day when the temperature dipped to minus-17 degrees C (1 degree F). ”It was a pretty tricky super-G and I tried to ski smart,” Goggia said. ”I told my coach, `Hey Gianluca, you put poetry on the slope today.”’ It was the third career victory for Kriechmayr, who tied with teammate Matthias Mayer to win the downhill on Wednesday. Jansrud ended the season with an 80-point advantage over Kriechmayr. Svindal was third, 126 points behind. ”It’s been a very good season. I started it off with a victory and managed to get on the podium in most of the other races,” Jansrud said. ”But I’m very happy to have decided the result in Kvitfjell when I look at the results today.” Counting four of Svindal’s five titles and Jansrud’s third, Norwegians have won the super-G globe for seven straight seasons. ”Seven times in a row is pretty insane,” Jansrud said. ”If there’s a secret I’m not going to say what it is.” .
  8. Free agent guard Ty Lawson has signed a contract with the Washington Wizards Korey Toomer Color Rush Jersey , giving them additional depth heading into their first-round playoff series against the Toronto Raptors. The Wizards announced the move Thursday, a day after they wrapped up the regular season with a 101-92 loss to the Orlando Magic and finished with the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. Wizards point guard John Wall sat out the game because it was the second of a back-to-back set. He returned March 31 after missing more than two months because of surgery on his left knee. The 30-year-old Lawson played most recently in the Chinese Basketball Association. He hasn’t been in the NBA since last season, when he averaged 9.9 points and 4.8 assists for the Sacramento Kings. He has played eight seasons in the NBA, spending time with four teams. Washington plays Game 1 of its series at No. 1 seed Toronto on Saturday. — Roughly 20 seconds into his introductory news conference as coach of the New York Giants, Pat Shurmur ran into his problem. The lights went out in the auditorium where he was speaking. Like everyone else in the packed room, the former offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings laughed, and then handled the situation without missing a beat. ”And we’re off http://www.buccaneersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-ryan-jensen-jersey ,” Shurmur quipped. ”We have to keep adjusting. Anyway, I was going to tell a joke, so I’ll stop.” Speaking and answering questions for more than 25 minutes after being introduced by co-owner John Mara, Shurmur was poised, funny and open, thanking his mother in Michigan for teaching him to be competitive, compassionate and not allowing anyone to tell him you can’t do something. Shurmur faces a major task in taking over a team that went 3-13 after making the playoffs in 2016. The injury-ravaged Giants slipped so quickly that Ben McAdoo was fired in early December after less than two years on the job. ”There’s a lot of work to be done Da'Shawn Hand Color Rush Jersey ,” Shurmur said. ”There are changes that need to be made.” One thing that seemingly won’t change is the Giants’ starting quarterback. Shurmur is looking forward to working with Eli Manning and he believes the 37-year-old two-time Super Bowl winner still has years ahead of him. The 52-year-old agrees with new general manager Dave Gettleman that winning starts up front, and he is determined to build a good offensive line to go along with a talented defensive line. ”There are basic truths and basic facts that don’t change and you have to do,” Gettleman said. ”You have to run the ball, you have to stop the run, and you have to rush the passer. Pat and I completely agree on that. The other thing is that big men allow you to compete.” As the Giants struggled last season, there were rifts in the locker room. Three players were suspended for a week for conduct detrimental to the organization. Shurmur wants to get to know his players, particularly superstar receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Josh Allen Bills Jersey , joking it makes sense to throw him the ball. He added everyone will start with a clean sheet. This will be Shurmur’s second head coaching job, and he says he is a lot more knowledgeable now than when he ran the Cleveland Browns in 2011-12. ”Those who do know me know I have zero tolerance for people who don’t compete,” Shurmur said. ”I have zero tolerance for those who do not give effort and I have zero tolerance for people who don’t show or lack respect.” Shurmur has already started assembling his staff. Former Cardinals defensive coordinator James Bettcher will be his defensive coordinator. The status of the offensive coordinator is uncertain. Shurmur intends to call his own plays on an offense that will have a West Coast influence, but also one that seeks to run the ball. ”We’re going to do what we can to get better each day,” Shurmur said. ”How fast that happens? I’m as impatient as the next fan, but we’re going to try to get better each day. ”As I mentioned we have a lot of really good players on this team. We’re going to get some new ones and we’re going to try to put together a team that can go out next year and win games.” The Giants, who have made the playoffs only once since 2011 Kentavius Street Color Rush Jersey , interviewed five other coaching candidates, including interim coach and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Shurmur was the clear choice, the co-owners said. ”After the season like we had, we needed someone who was ”an adult,” who is professional and who has a certain demeanor to walk in there and start to straighten things out,” Mara said. ”I think he had all the qualities. Time will tell.” Co-owner Steve Tisch believes the Giants will be patient in the rebuilding process, but he thinks Shurmur will hit the ground running. He was impressed with the way the new coach walked through the building Thursday and introduced himself to everyone. ”The evidence is there this is a mature http://www.chargersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-justin-jones-jersey , responsible, passionate leader,” Tisch said. ”I can’t wait for the players to meet him and him to put a new staff together. It’s a new day and it’s very exciting.” Mara, who has taken part in his share of coaching searches, said Shurmur had as good an interview as he has experienced. Tisch added he felt an almost instant chemistry talking with him. — .
  9. As far as Javier Baez is concerned http://www.broncosauthorizedshops.com/authentic-su_a-cravens-jersey , no deficit is too big for the Chicago Cubs to overcome. Baez and his teammates showed why he feels that way on Saturday. Baez homered and had four hits – including a game-tying infield single in the eighth – and the Cubs rallied from a five-run deficit for an 8-7 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Anthony Rizzo’s RBI groundout capped a four-run eighth inning for Chicago, which has come from behind in each of its last eight wins. ”That’s what we do,” Baez said. ”We fight to the end. We’ve been coming back since 2016.” Eugenio Suarez homered and Billy Hamilton added three hits and three stolen bases for Cincinnati, which had its five-game winning streak against the Cubs snapped. Randy Rosario (4-0) allowed two hits in 2 1/3 innings to get the win. Brandon Morrow worked the ninth for his 20th save. The Reds took a 7-4 lead into the eighth Authentic Lukas Dostal Jersey , but reliever Amir Garrett – who retired three straight batters in the seventh – walked Victor Caratini and Addison Russell to start the inning. Pinch hitter David Bote then singled to load the bases. Jared Hughes (2-3) replaced Garrett and Ben Zobrist greeted him with a two-run double to left-center to trim the deficit to 7-6. Baez followed with a comebacker, but Hughes bobbled the ball and then fell down as he picked it up. Baez was credited with an RBI infield hit as Bote scored for a tie at 7. ”It was right there; it hit my glove,” Hughes said. ”I think it was a hit, but still Markus Wheaton Color Rush Jersey , I should have made the play.” Rizzo then drove in Zobrist with a groundout to second base to put Chicago on top. ”Amir gave us a clean seventh inning, and the wheels fell off in the eighth,” Cincinnati manager Jim Riggleman said. The five-run deficit was the largest the Cubs have overcome during the eight comeback wins. ”It’s fantastic,” Bote said of Chicago’s string of comebacks. ”The quality at-bats the last two weeks have been incredible.” Suarez’s three-run blast in the third gave the Reds a 5-0 lead. Chicago moved closer with a pair of runs in the fourth. Caratini drove in the first with a double and then scored on an RBI groundout by Russell. Cincinnati reclaimed the five-run advantage with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings on RBI singles by Jesse Winker and Joey Votto. The Cubs made it 7-3 in the bottom of the sixth as Rosario drove in a run with a single for his first major league hit and RBI. Baez’s 17th homer leading off the seventh trimmed the deficit to three runs. HARVEY SOLID Reds starter Matt Harvey was in line to win his fourth straight start before the eighth-inning meltdown. The right-hander allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings. He has a 1.88 ERA over his last four starts. ”It’s a good sign that I can go out Josh Allen Jersey Bills , not feel great, be out of whack and still get somewhat deep in the game and limit the damage,” Harvey said. SUN FIELD Harvey might have completed the sixth without giving up a third run had right fielder Scott Schebler not lost a pop fly by Russell in the sun with one out. It dropped in for a double. Rosario followed with a single to drive in Russell. TRAINER’S ROOM Cubs: OF Jason Heyward left the game after taking a foul ball to the groin in the third inning. 3B Kris Bryant (left shoulder inflammation) took batting practice, fielded grounders and ran the bases before the game. Manager Joe Maddon said Bryant will go on a rehab assignment before being activated Jalyn Holmes Color Rush Jersey , although the details haven’t been worked out yet. UP NEXT LHP Jon Lester (11-2, 2.25 ERA) looks to become the NL’s first 12-game winner on Sunday in the finale of the three-game series. Lester has won seven straight starts. RHP Luis Castillo (5-8, 5.53) pitches for the Reds. — The Atlanta Braves placed left-hander Max Fried on the 10-day disabled list Friday with a blister on the middle finger of his throwing hand. Right-hander Evan Phillips was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett to take his place. Fried (1-3) started a 7-2 loss to Milwaukee on Thursday, going three innings and allowing four runs on four hits and three walks. Braves manager Brian Snitker said the team is trying to get ahead of the injury by placing Fried on the disabled list now instead of letting the issue linger and potentially get worse. Phillips’ most recent stint at Gwinnett lasted two days. He appeared in Tuesday’s loss to the Yankees Authentic Josh Allen Jersey , allowing two runs in 2 1/3 innings in his major league debut and was sent down the next day. .
  10. Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star shooting guard Jimmy Butler is available to play in a pivotal matchup against Denver after missing 16 games with a right knee injury. He wasn’t listed in the starting lineup Thursday night against the Nuggets Authentic Isac Lundestrom Jersey , who are right on the Timberwolves’ heels in the playoff chase. Butler recently told reporters he was ”this close” to a return, but was considered doubtful for the game. Butler has been out since suffering a knee injury on Feb. 23 at Houston. He had surgery two days later to repair the meniscus and has steadily been working his way back. The Wolves are 8-8 since Butler was sidelined. He’s averaging 22.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists. — From George Mikan to Kobe Bryant, superstars have been the Lakers‘ lifeblood for decades. LeBron James is already the biggest star of his generation, and he followed a familiar path to Los Angeles‘ bright lights when he decided to sign with the Lakers as a free agent. It’s no coincidence that this glamorous, 16-time champion franchise has consistently attracted already great players with outsized ambition. The 33-year-old James has taken on the challenge that Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O’Neal all accepted near the primes of their careers. Becoming a basketball superstar is one thing Cheap Lamar Jackson Jersey , and nobody is bigger than James after 15 prolific NBA seasons and three championships. Succeeding with the Lakers is something different, according to many of the men who have worn this gold jersey. Just ask Bryant, who won two Olympic gold medals as James’ teammate while spending his entire 20-year career with the Lakers. ”The NBA does better when the Lakers are at their highest potential,” Bryant, who retired in 2016, told Fox Sports Radio on Monday. ”And for the city of LA, it’s important for us to have that star power. Jerry (West) was here. Elgin Baylor was here. Wilt was here. Magic was here. Cap (Abdul-Jabbar) was here. Shaq Fred Warner Color Rush Jersey , myself, and now let’s carry it forward again. You’ve got LeBron here now. It’s his turn now. Hopefully he can – which he will – take this franchise back to prominence.” Given the Golden State Warriors‘ addition of DeMarcus Cousins to what was already a ludicrously loaded roster, a championship seems logically out of reach for anybody else in the NBA. James already was aware of the upstate challenge he’ll face after losing three of the last four NBA Finals to the Warriors in Cleveland. And with innumerable variables still to be settled before the regular season, it’s impossible to predict what James will be able to accomplish with a revamped Lakers roster. But at least the worst half-decade in franchise history should become a bad memory for Lakers fans, who seethed through five irrelevant seasons highlighted mostly by Bryant’s retirement tour. The Lakers’ 35 victories last year were their best performance during five years without a postseason game for a team that had never missed the playoffs more than two seasons in a row. After James announced his decision to join the Lakers on a four-year, $153.3 million deal Sunday, the Lakers’ jersey sales skyrocketed and prices spiked on the secondary ticket market. Fans gathered among the statues in Star Plaza outside Staples Center Ozzie Albies Atlanta Braves Jersey , tossing chalk into the air in a simulation of James’ famed gesture. Los Angeles also made a flurry of complementary moves as Johnson attempted to assemble an immediate playoff contender on the wreckage of five playoff-free years. Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee and Lance Stephenson are joining along with James. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is staying, along with – for now – the young core of Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart. Julius Randle, Isaiah Thomas and several others are out. The Lakers will build around James, and they’ll continue to attempt to land Kawhi Leonard or another superstar to team up with him over the next year. With Randle’s departure http://www.brownsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-antonio-callaway-jersey , the Lakers will have no players left on their roster who played with Bryant in his final game in 2016. The Lakers are steaming toward a new future, with little tying them to the lamentable recent past. But with the signing of a free-agent superstar, the Lakers already have followed through on the most i mportant part of the plan set forth 16 months ago by Magic Johnson when he took over the club’s basketball operations. Although he spent his entire career with LA, Magic knows the magnitude of the Lakers’ lure. Chamberlain made this move in 1968, with the NBA’s reigning Most Valuable Player requesting a trade from Philadelphia to join Baylor and West. Abdul-Jabbar did it in 1975 after requesting a trade from Milwaukee to a cosmopolitan city, and he went on to become the NBA’s career scoring leader during 14 seasons with the Lakers. O’Neal went west as a free agent in 1996, embracing the advantages of living in Hollywood while moonlighting as an actor and rapper. James is arguably bigger than them all http://www.bengalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-sam-hubbard-jersey , a multi-media star with a legitimate entertainment production company already churning out content for the likes of NBC, the History Channel and Starz. When James suits up for the season opener, six of the top eight scorers in NBA history will be Lakers. ”This is a special place,” Johnson said recently. ”We know what’s special about this franchise. The people we choose to come here are going to know that, too.” — .
  11. ”Johnny Hockey” is getting an additional title: part owner. Calgary Flames star forward Johnny Gaudreau is a member of an NHL-laden ownership group that purchased an equity stake in the U.S. Hockey League’s Dubuque Fighting Saints on Thursday. The group includes Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons http://www.cowboysauthorizedshops.com/authentic-dorance-armstrong-jr.-jersey , former Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma, and Florida Panthers executive chairman Peter Luukko. Gaudreau and Girgensons were teammates on the Dubuque team that won the USHL championship in 2011. Luukko’s son Nick was also on the team. Their ownership group is titled Saints4Life Acquisitions. ”The first day I stepped into Dubuque, I knew it was a special place,” Gaudreau said in a statement issued by the league. ”I have a lot of special memories in Dubuque, including winning it all in 2011. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse.” Gaudreau was the USHL’s rookie of the year in 2011, when he was also drafted by Calgary. He eventually went on to win college hockey’s Hobey Baker Award at Boston College. Girgensons described being part of the ownership group as a way to pay back the team for playing a key role in his development. A year after moving to North America from his native Latvia, Girgensons spent two seasons with the Fighting Saints and was preparing to play college hockey at Vermont before being selected by Buffalo in the first round of the 2012 draft. ”It’s a team that really got me to where I am today,” Girgensons told The Associated Press by phone. Never envisioning the opportunity to be an owner http://www.packersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jk-scott-jersey , Girgensons joked he might need to contact Sabres owner Terry Pegula for a few pointers. Edmonton Oilers president and general manager Peter Chiarelli will remain a part owner of the team. Philip Falcone, who previously was a part owner of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, is departing as the Fighting Saints’ principal owner. The Fighting Saints have won two championships since returning to the USHL in 2010 following a nine-year absence. Luukko immediately jumped aboard when he saw how his son’s experience in Dubuque helped prepare him for college. ”I know from my son’s perspective and others that I’ve talked to, they come in as pretty mature people heading into their university experience,” he said. ”Being involved in the National Hockey League for over 25 years, this is a chance to be able to be part of the development of young players and what is actually a good business also,” Luukko said. ”Listen, I don’t belong to a country club Marcus Davenport Color Rush Jersey , so really this will be my fun.” — The Washington Capitals have re-signed John Carlson to a $64 million, eight-year contract that allows the Stanley Cup champions to keep the do-it-all defenseman. Carlson will count $8 million against the salary cap through the 2026-27 season. General manager Brian MacLellan announced the deal Sunday. ”John has been an exceptional and consistent player for our franchise and has blossomed into being one of the top defensemen in the NHL,” MacLellan said. ”Defenseman like John are a rare commodity in our League and, at 28 years of age, we feel he is just entering his prime. As a right-handed defenseman, John plays in all key situations and has contributed greatly to our team’s success on the special teams. We are pleased for both parties to have come to an agreement.” That’s not necessary for the 28-year-old who has made the Washington area his home and wanted to stay if there was a fit. The Capitals got the cap space necessary to re-sign Carlson by trading veteran defenseman Brooks Orpik and backup goaltender Philipp Grubauer on Friday night at the NHL draft. Carlson outperformed his last deal that paid him just under $4 million a season and was at his best in a contract year. He led all defensemen with 68 points in the regular season and 20 in the playoffs to help Washington win the Metropolitan Division and then the Stanley Cup. The contract makes Carlson the second-highest-paid player on the Capitals behind Alex Ovechkin. Carlson averaged about 25 minutes a game all season, stepping up early when top-pairing defenseman Matt Niskanen missed time with injury and playing an important role on the power play and penalty kill on the Cup run. ”His value is immense,” goaltender Braden Holtby said. ”You can see that Michael Gallup Color Rush Jersey , how much he meant to our team in this run. As far as growth, I think he’s grown steadily but I think he’s been pretty good for a long time. He’s been really good for a long time. I think this year it just showed through a bit more because we just forced him to play more.” Carlson has been a mainstay on the Capitals’ blue line since 2010-11. The 2008 first-round pick has 333 points in 608 regular-season games and 55 points in 100 playoff games. ”I’ve always thought he was one of the better defensemen that I’ve ever played with,” winger T.J. Oshie said. ”This year, he elevated that quite a bit. In my eyes, he’s got to be a top-three or top-five defenseman in the league. You see what he does- he doesn’t do a lot of things that are really flashy, so maybe he doesn’t get the highlight-reel things that other guys do, but defensively, he rarely ever gets beat.” Re-signing Carlson was just the first move on MacLellan’s summer checklist. He’s attempting to re-sign trade-deadline pickup Michal Kempny before Carlson’s defense partner can become an unrestricted free agent July 1 Mike Hughes Color Rush Jersey , and he needs to negotiate new contracts for restricted free agent forwards Tom Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly. ”We’re trying to sign Kempny,” MacLellan said Friday. ”We’re trying to sign Wilson as an RFA and then make some decisions after that.” There’s also the matter of replacing Barry Trotz as coach after he resigned and joined the New York Islanders. Associate coach Todd Reirden, who was a finalist for the Flames’ head job two years ago, is the heavy front-runner, though MacLellan wanted to sit down and formally interview him this week first. ”I think you still need to go through an interview process and ask the right questions,” MacLellan said. ”I just want to clarify on what he’s thinking system-wise and how he’s going to handle certain players.” It helps his case that Reirden coached the defenseman and had a hand in the development of Carlson, Niskanen, Kempny and Dmitry Orlov. ”The players all know him Justin Reid Color Rush Jersey , they’re comfortable with him,” MacLellan said. ”He’ll have a good feel for personalities, how to motivate people and so forth.” — .
  12. GLENDALE Cheap Uchenna Nwosu Jersey , Ariz. — Every NHL team seemingly wanted to face the Arizona Coyotes when the season began. As the schedule winds down, they are the team no playoff contender is eager to go against. The Tampa Bay Lightning, who have led the Eastern Conference most of the season, discovered that during a 4-1 loss to Arizona on Monday. The Vegas Golden Knights, who have led the Western Conference much of the season, discovered that during a 3-2 loss to Arizona on Wednesday. The St. Louis Blues, already a loser to Arizona this season, are hoping they don’t meet the same fate as the Lightning and Golden Knights when they play the suddenly dangerous Coyotes on Saturday night at Gila River Arena, in a game critical to St. Louis’ playoff hopes. The Blues (43-28-6) had won six in a row until losing at Vegas 4-3 in overtime on Friday night Cheap Chase Edmonds Jersey , a loss that gained them a valuable point but dropped them a point behind the Anaheim Ducks for the top Western Conference wild card. Jonathan Marchessault scored twice for Vegas, including the game-winner only 22 seconds into overtime. The Ducks moved past St. Louis, 93 points to 92, by beating the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in overtime. Arizona (27-40-11) stumbled during a 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday as Jeff Carter scored three goals. It concluded a road trip in which the Coyotes won three of six, but they’re proving to be a very difficult opponent as the playoff races wrap up. Certainly, much more so than back in October, November and December, when the Coyotes were winless through 11 games (0-10-1) and they won only nine of their first 41. “Unfortunately, we came up a little bit short (in Los Angeles) Authentic Justin Reid Jersey , but we’ll take the positives and get ready to go for St. Louis,” said left winger Max Domi, who had a goal and an assist against the Kings. “It was a good test for us and a really good learning experience, too, and we’ll take that and move forward. We’ve got four games left and, hopefully, we can make the most of those.” The Coyotes are 18-13-6 since midseason, and 15-8-2 in their last 25 games. It’s not exactly a Presidents’ Trophy-level pace, but certainly much better than midseason Randy Johnson Jersey , when they were threatening to put together one of the NHL’s worst seasons in decades. “I’m proud of this team,” first-year coach Rick Tocchet said. “We had a good road trip and the guys played hard.” The Coyotes are getting production from Kevin Connauton, who scored in Los Angeles and has three goals in two games, and rookie center Clayton Keller, who had a 10-game scoring streak stopped against the Kings. He has three goals and seven points in his last five games, and 23 goals and 62 points overall. The Blues beat the Coyotes 3-2 in a shootout on Nov. 9 but lost to them 5-2 on Jan. 20. They had won eight of nine before Friday, including key wins over the Kings and the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins. “It was a typical Western Conference game, just heavy sticks, just heavy bodies and two teams just slugging it out Mike Montgomery Jersey ,” said right winger Chris Thorburn, who scored his first goal with St. Louis. Of those six consecutive Blues wins, four came in overtime, including three in a row from March 17-21 against the New York Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks and Bruins. Brayden Schenn leads them with 65 points, including 26 goals, while Vladimir Tarasenko has a team-high 31 goals to go with 63 points. Their late-season surge pushed the Blues from 11th place in the Western Conference on March 16 into a wild-card slot, and they now control their own playoff destiny rather than having to rely on other teams. “Certainly, the picture’s a little bit clearer right now Orlando Cepeda Jersey ,” Blues coach Mike Yeo said. However, playing the Knights and Coyotes on back-to-back nights in the desert is proving to be quite a challenge down the stretch. And the Blues’ schedule isn’t easy, with six games in nine days counting the Vegas game, and three more on the road. St. Louis is 12-9-2 against the Pacific Division. “What we do beyond this (is) really going to count,” Yeo said. .
  13. Colts general manager Chis Ballard showed up for a news conference Wednesday – just not the one he expected. Instead of introducing Josh McDaniels as the team’s new head coach Youth Su'a Cravens Jersey , Ballard stood in front of reporters trying to explain why New England’s longtime offensive coordinator reneged on a deal he initially accepted. But if Ballard’s disgust about losing his top choice wasn’t clear from the occasional glare or the strong pitch in his voice, he left no doubt with one parting shot. ”The rivalry is back on,” he said before leaving. Conducting a coaching search in February isn’t what Ballard or Indy envisioned when Chuck Pagano was fired just hours after Indy completed a 4-12 season on Dec. 31. Exactly 24 hours after announcing McDaniels’ hiring on the team’s Twitter account and roughly 16 hours after he called back to tell Ballard he was out, the search begins anew for the jilted Colts. Their other finalist, Mike Vrabel, has already taken the Tennessee job. Another top-tier candidate, Mike Nagy Authentic Nick Nelson Jersey , has already been hired in Chicago. Baylor coach Matt Rhule, who also interviewed for the job, is back on campus getting ready for spring football. And it’s unclear where the Colts may turn next. ”We have a list of candidates, I’ve had them from the get-go,” Ballard said. ”There are other guys we wanted to interview, but because of the playoffs, we weren’t able to. ”We’ll move forward with them and we will get the right leader for the Indianapolis Colts – one that believes what we believe and wants to go where we want to go. I’m very confident in this.” Ballard didn’t name names Ryne Sandberg Jersey , of course, nor did he provide a timetable. Oddly, the timing could present Indy with a unique opportunity to pick off a candidate who might emerge as a top candidate on next year’s coaching carousel. Several possibilities exist including Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich, who was part of a Super Bowl victory over the Patriots with a backup quarterback. The good news for Indy is that the only coaching vacancy still looks pretty attractive – if Andrew Luck is healthy. Indy still has Pro Bowl receiver T.Y. Hilton, Pro Bowl tight end Jack Doyle, a revamped defense that showed major improvement as last season went along, the No. 3 pick in the draft and about $80 million to spend in free agency. Luck Andy Pettitte Jersey , meanwhile, continues to be the big question as he rehabs from last January’s surgery for a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. Some believe McDaniels’ sudden change of heart was related to doubts about Luck’s health. Ballard didn’t bother asking McDaniels why he made the decision. On Wednesday, though, he attempted to alleviate lingering concerns about Luck while acknowledging the franchise quarterback still hasn’t thrown a football since returning from Europe late last year. ”At this point, we feel very strongly that Andrew is in a good place. He doesn’t need surgery,” Ballard said. ”I have not gotten that from the two doctors that he’s seen here after the season. His strength is good. He’s working on his throwing motion and he’s working on his arm speed right now. He has not picked up a football, but he is throwing balls Ronald Acuna Jr. Jersey , working on arm speed. ”He’s going to do everything right to get himself ready to play and I’m very confident, he’s very confident, that he’s going to come back and prove a lot of people wrong,” Ballard added. McDaniels decision didn’t just leave the Colts in the lurch. Three assistant coaches – Matt Eberflus, Mike Phair and Dave DeGuglielmo – had already been hired in Indy. While Ballard said he likes all three and will honor their contracts by keeping them on the next coach’s staff, others strongly criticized McDaniels from walking away from them. ”Haven’t read the article but I can tell you there is NO excuse big enough to justify this,” Dungy wrote on Twitter in response to a story that indicated McDaniels stayed with the Pats because he was more comfortable with the team. ”It’s one thing to go back on your word to an organization. But having assistant coaches leave jobs to go with you then leave them out to dry is indefensible.” But as the news conference continued Youth Robert Golden Jersey , Ballard said people say no to job offers every day, he wished McDaniels well at the end of Tuesday night’s brief call and that his primary concern now is finding someone who wants the job. ”To me, it’s about being right,” Ballard said. ”You’ve got to be right. It doesn’t matter if you’re the first out of the box and everybody praises you or you are the last one to make the hire. We want to be right.” — .
  14. Another strong effort from Anibal Sanchez has the first-place Atlanta Braves facing a sudden surplus of starting pitchers. Sanchez allowed only four hits in seven scoreless innings Youth Fred Warner Jersey , Ender Inciarte homered and scored two runs and the Braves, helped by a strange replay ruling, beat the San Diego Padres 4-2 on Thursday night. The Braves (40-28) moved 12 games over .500 for the first time since ending the 2013 season on top of the NL East. They haven’t been back to the playoffs since 2013, but now they’re again leading the division. Sanchez has won two straight starts. With the emergence of rookie Mike Soroka and the expected return of Julio Teheran from the DL this weekend, Braves manager Brian Snitker could soon face difficult decisions in his rotation. ”We’ve got a good problem because we’ve got more starters than we can probably use right now Cheap Dontae Johnson Jersey ,” Snitker said. ”That’s something that not a lot of teams can say. So it’s going to be some tough decisions going forward.” Sanchez (3-0) did not walk a batter as he earned his first win in six career starts against San Diego. The 34-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 1.93 in seven games, including six starts. He signed with Atlanta in spring training following his release from Minnesota. ”He’s been a man on a mission,” catcher Tyler Flowers said. Sanchez outpitched Tyson Ross (5-4), who allowed only three hits and three runs in six-plus innings. Ozzie Albies added a run-scoring double for Atlanta. Inciarte, who singled and scored in the third Cheap Sebastian Janikowski Jersey , had two hits. Atlanta led 3-0 before Eric Hosmer’s double off Dan Winkler in the eighth drove in Jose Pirela and Cory Spangenberg, cutting the lead to one run. Freddie Freeman doubled and scored on Adam Cimber’s throwing error on Flowers’ grounder in the bottom of the eighth to cap the scoring. Arodys Vizcaino pitched the ninth for his 13th save in 15 chances. The Padres were upset a video review affirmed the ruling from home plate umpire Mark Ripperger that Flowers was hit by a pitch from Sanchez in the seventh. The review lasted 2 minutes, 39 seconds. Flowers said he told Ripperger he didn’t think he was hit by the pitch. ”The more I thought about it sitting there, and then seeing the replay, I know it hit something Cheap P.J. Hall Jersey ,” Flowers said. ”It might have been me. I don’t know. I wear so many guards and stuff, it might have been one of those.” TV replays seemed to show the ball didn’t hit Flowers or his bat. San Diego manager Andy Green said the call changed the game because Flowers scored on Inciarte’s groundout against Robbie Erlin. ”In those moments as a manager I’m not even sure why you have replay,” Green said. ”I mean, it’s blatantly obvious it didn’t hit him. There’s no situation where that hit him and it changed the game. … Every single way you look at that one they blew it and that cost us.” Inciarte pulled a pitch from Ross over the first level of right-field seats and into the open doors of a restaurant in the fifth. It was Inciarte’s fifth homer and his first since May 15. Sanchez escaped sixth-inning trouble after the Padres had runners on first and third with one out, following a double by A.J. Ellis and an infield single by Pirela. Spangenberg and Hosmer ended the inning with infield popups. TRAINER’S ROOM Teheran (right thumb contusion) is on track to come off the DL and start on Sunday after throwing a bullpen session with no problems. Teheran has been out since June 5. … Braves OF Ronald Acuna Jr. (left knee sprain) hit before the game. He is expected to run the bases at a moderate pace on Friday and then give the knee a more strenuous test on Saturday. SLOW STARTERS The Padres fell to 5-18 in series openers this season Youth Jason Sanders Jersey , the worst mark in the National League. Despite those poor starts, San Diego has won five straight series. RARE WALK Ross went four innings without a walk before putting Albies on base with two outs in the fifth. It ended a stretch of 32 innings without a walk for San Diego pitchers, matching the longest streak in franchise history from July 28-31, 1971. UP NEXT Padres: LHP Clayton Richard will start Friday night’s second game of the series. He is 4-2 with a 3.04 ERA in his last seven starts. Braves: RHP Brandon McCarthy was announced as Friday night’s starter. — .
  15. Very few teams can boast of a winning record against the Vegas Golden Knights this season. The Edmonton Oilers are one. Connor McDavid had three assists to push his NHL-leading points total to 106 and help Edmonton beat Vegas 4-3 on Thursday night Authentic Oren Burks Jersey , improving to 3-1 against the Pacific Division winners. ”Obviously to come from behind was nice, especially on a team like that which has been so good,” McDavid said. ”To win the season series 3-1, it’s a little feather in our cap.” Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Jose Cruz Jr. Jersey , Matt Benning, Mike Cammalleri and Ty Rattie scored for the Oilers. They snapped a five-game losing skid. ”It is a little bit gratifying knowing you can play with some of those top teams, but obviously we didn’t play our top game enough this year to put ourselves where we want to be right now,” said Oilers goalie Cam Talbot Josh Hader Jersey , who made 30 saves to collect his 30th win of the season. ”It is bittersweet getting a big win against a team like that which is in first place in your division, but after Saturday they keep playing and we don’t.” Brayden McNabb, Brandon Pirri and Oscar Lindberg replied for the Pacific Division-leading Golden Knights. They had won three in a row. ”We’ve been pretty good as of late,” McNabb said. ”We’ve had a couple of stretches where we’ve had breakdowns Phil Rizzuto Jersey , but that’s hockey. It happened, we have to keep building we have one more left and we’ll keep building for Game 1 of the playoffs.” Edmonton opened the scoring seven minutes into the opening period. McDavid started a three-way passing play that culminated in Nugent-Hopkins scoring his 23rd before goalie Malcolm Subban could get across the crease. The Knights tied it two minutes into the second period when McNabb took the puck at the point off a faceoff before dangling through traffic and beating Talbot. Vegas took the lead three minutes later on Pirri’s goal. Benning’s shot from the slot went in after Subban got a piece of it to tie it at 2. Edmonton went ahead 3-2 midway through the third on the power play as McDavid poked a puck away from a defender behind the net out front to Cammalleri, who notched his seventh. McDavid picked up a third assist three minutes later, feeding the puck to Rattie picked the top corner for his fifth goal in 13 games with Edmonton. Vegas got one back with five minutes to play in the third frame as Lindberg was left alone in the slot and beat Talbot. Notes: Defenseman Zack Whitecloud made his NHL debut for Vegas. The Brandon Roger Clemens Jersey , Manitoba, product signed as a free agent out of Bemidji State on March 8. … Defenseman Keegan Lowe, son of former Oilers star Kevin Lowe, made his Oilers debut.
