  1. The Patriots released tight end Martellus Bennett on Wednesday. Bennett was due a $2 million roster bonus next week. His release will save New England about $6 million in salary cap space. Bennett joined New England in November of last season after being released by Green Bay for "failing to disclose a physical condition." He started seven games for the Packers in 2017 after signing a three-year Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey , $21 million contract as a free agent. Following his release, Bennett appeared in two games for the Patriots before being placed on injured reserve with hamstring and shoulder issues. In 2016, Bennett caught 55 passes for 701 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns on his way to earning a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots. Tennessee wide receiver Rishard Matthews has been in the NFL the past six seasons, and now the veteran is hoping his experience learning other offenses will help him get up to speed very quickly with the Titans' newest scheme. Matthews missed the Titans' organized team activities, mandatory minicamp in June, training camp and first three preseason games with an undisclosed injury. He passed his physical Sunday and was removed from the physically unable to perform list then practiced Monday. That left the receiver watching teammates practice Alan Page Jersey , trying to learn new coordinator Matt LaFleur's offense in meetings and walk-throughs without taking a single snap. Now the 6-foot receiver who led Tennessee with 1,740 yards receiving over the past two seasons can take part in an offense that has him very excited. "This is the longest I've been out of football," Matthews said before practice. "It's tough watching, but as far as the offense I'm really excited. I think the sky's the limit for our group. We have a bunch of talented young players. I think Coach LaFleur has explained that a lot of people will be moving around, and people aren't going to be able to get a beat on us so easy, so that's also exciting." That's a big change from last December when Matthews argued for the Titans to use a no-huddle or quick-tempo offense to give quarterback Marcus Mariota more freedom with the team mired in a three-game skid that cost Tennessee the AFC South title. He also said then that the Titans needed more creativity on offense and work more to create better matchups. The Titans fired coach Mike Mularkey after the season ended in January and hired first-time head coach Mike Vrabel. He brought in LaFleur patrick mahomes authentic jersey , who also had interviewed for the head coaching job. With new coaches and a new offense, Matthews found himself struggling with an undisclosed injury that he said was not related to an injured hamstring that cost him two games last season. He watched the offseason program from April into mid-June and started training camp on the physically unable to perform list. The Titans weren't too concerned about Matthews' return, signing him to an extension through 2019 last week. Vrabel has been impressed by what he's seen of the receiver who ranks second on the Titans only to three-time Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker with 118 catches over the past two seasons. Vrabel called Matthews' attitude "great" and a good reminder to younger players how to be professional at working hard to get back into the lineup. The coach also likes how Matthews plays. "There's a toughness to it. There's a grit to it," Vrabel said. "I think Rishard would tell you that he's not the fastest, not the biggest, not the quickest Tim Williams Jersey , but at the end of the day, there's a lot of production, and there's some consistency there which is really valued." Matthews, who started his NFL career with four seasons in Miami, has started 20 of his 30 games since signing with Tennessee in March 2016. He ranks ninth in the NFL averaging 14.7 yards per catch among players with at least 100 catches over the past two seasons. He's also the key veteran in a very young receiving group. Corey Davis is expected to be the No. 1 receiver after being the fifth player drafted in 2017, but is still looking for his first touchdown catch in the regular season. Taywan Taylor is going into his second season Taron Johnson Jersey , and Tajae Sharpe spent his second season on injured reserve last year. "I'm just thankful to be back now," Matthews said. NOTES: LB Brian Orakpo, Walker and rookie LB Rashaan Evans all returned to practice Monday. Orakpo originally hurt a shoulder July 27, and Walker was hurt Aug. 16 in a joint practice with Tampa Bay. Evans returned to practice last week but left early. "It's good to see those guys back out there and working and just fresh faces," Vrabel said. Follow Teresa M. 2. The Detroit Lions have spent a lot of time and money trying to improve their offensive line. Frank Ragnow represents the latest investment. "It starts up front Jarran Reed Jersey ," Lions general manager Bob Quinn said. "That's kind of what we believe in." Detroit drafted the Arkansas center with the No. 20 overall pick Thursday night, hoping he can boost their lackluster running game and keep franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford upright more often. "Those are two things he's paid to do and he does both of them equally well," Quinn said. "He played his best games against the best defenses." The Lions ranked last in the NFL last year in rushing offense and have been among the league's worst on the ground offensively in recent seasons. Their one-dimensional offense and banged-up line led to Stafford being sacked 47 times last season. Ragnow will have a chance to start as a rookie, likely next to guards T.J. Lang and Graham Glasgow if he plays center. He may also play guard, giving Detroit an option of playing Glasgow at center. "He's a guy who can help us most the quickest," Quinn said. Quinn has used the draft and free agency to bolster the offensive line, using his first pick as a general manager two years ago to take Ohio State tackle Taylor Decker No. 16 overall and Glasgow two rounds later. Last year in free agency, Quinn spent big to sign Lang and Ricky Wagner. And now Brooks Reed Jersey , Quinn has committed to bolster the line even more by using a first-round pick on a center and choosing to address needs on the defensive line later in the draft or free agency. The 6-foot-5, 312-pound Ragnow is a big and powerful lineman, who ended his 42-game career without giving up a sack. He had a season-ending ankle injury last year, limiting him to seven games. "The rehab process went way smoother than I expected," said Ragnow, adding his ankle is healthy. "It was a very routine surgery." The Minnesota native played in nine games as a freshman in 2014 and became a full-time starter at right guard as a sophomore. He moved to center as a junior and thought entering NFL draft after grading out as the top offensive lineman in the country by Pro Football Focus. Ragnow chose to stay in college and was a second-team preseason All-America player, but injury stunted his shot at winning awards. His father, Jon Jordan Poyer Jersey , died of a heart attack during the 2016 football season. "He was my best friend," he said. "He was my biggest fan. Especially right now, it's bittersweet. I'm just going to keep trying to make him proud." Despite the loss, he continued to play and was stopped after a game by Alabama coach Nick Saban, who lost his father to a heart attack while in graduate school. "Embrace the memories and the good times that he had with his father because that will be something he can keep with him forever," Saban recalled telling Ragnow. The Lions have second- and third-round picks Friday along with slots in the fourth, fifth and seventh rounds on Saturday. They went into the draft without a sixth-round selection, giving it up last year to acquire offensive tackle Greg Robinson from the Los Angeles Rams. Robinson started six games for the Lions Alex McGough Jersey , who released him in November. The Lions had relative success a year ago in the draft, getting contributions from seven players it selected. Detroit won three of their first four games last season and had a 6-4 record, but had setbacks in three of five games to fall out of the playoff picture and the late-season slide cost coach Jim Caldwell his job. Quinn hired Matt Patricia to lead an NFL team for the first time, reuniting with a coach he worked alongside with the New England Patriots for a dozen years. The Cowboys will have former Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough among their roster cuts today, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Scarbrough, a seventh-round pick, had 24 carries for 69 yards — a 2.9 yards per carry average — and a touchdown during the preseason. Scarbrough fell behind even Darius Jackson on the depth chart, but Jackson didn’t make the roster either Anthony Averett Jersey , per Todd Archer of ESPN. Ezekiel Elliott and Rod Smith are the team’s running backs, and the Cowboys also will use receiver Tavon Austin in the backfield. The Dallas Morning News reports that the Cowboys also have informed defensive end Charles Tapper, a fourth-round pick in 2016, of his release. The newspaper also has safety Jeron Johnson, cornerback Marquez White and receiver Lance Lenoir among the team’s cuts. White was a sixth-round choice in 2016. Tapper and Lenoir are among the players the Cowboys hope to get back on their practice squad. Authentic Womens Billy Price Jersey
  3. With neither the Detroit Red Wings nor the Buffalo Sabres playing postseason hockey next month Michael Pierce Jersey , both teams are focusing on younger players who can help them down the road. A pair of teams looking to post rare back-to-back wins square off when the Red Wings visit the league-worst Sabres on Thursday night. Detroit (28-38-11) won for only the second time in 15 games after stunning the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 on Tuesday. Perhaps the happiest player on the Red Wings was undrafted defenseman Joe Hicketts as he collected two assists for his first NHL points in only his second career game. “I thought as the game went on, I got better and that’s all I want to do,” said Hicketts, who at 5-foot-8 clearly doesn’t have the size of a prototypical blueliner. “Second period, I kind of knew what I wanted to do. … In the third, I thought I really brought what I wanted to bring.” Niklas Kronwall, playing in his 869th game — all with the Red Wings — picked up his 400th career point and praised the young player from British Columbia. “His energy is contagious Kam Chancellor Jersey , and I think that speaks for his character and the person that he is,” the 37-year-old Swede said. Hicketts could be part of the next Red Wings core of young stars that includes center Dylan Larkin (team-high 56 points), and wingers Anthony Mantha (top goal scorer with 23) and Andreas Athanasiou (31 points). Detroit, which has lost two of three to Buffalo this season including a 1-0 setback Oct. 24 in Western New York, is out of the playoffs in consecutive campaigns for the first time since 1982 and 1983. “We’ve worked extremely hard, we’ve competed hard, we’ve actually played good hockey and haven’t won T.J. McDonald Jersey , and that’s been tough,” Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. Detroit is in position to win two straight for the first time since Feb. 24 and Feb. 25, and there may not be a better opponent to do that against than Buffalo (24-40-12) which is likely headed to a last-place finish in the Atlantic Division for the fourth time in five seasons. The Sabres snapped a four-game slide Monday with a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs behind two goals from Jack Eichel. The second overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft leads Buffalo with 24 goals and 56 points. Eichel, who missed 15 games earlier this season with an ankle injury, needs two points to set a career high and three assists for 100 in his career. Thursday’s game will mark the Sabres debut of center Casey Mittelstadt, who was selected eighth overall in last summer’s NHL Draft, and had 30 points (11 goals Frank Clark Jersey , 19 assists) in 34 games with the University of Minnesota this season. “I’m going to try to approach it like any other game I’ve played,” Mittelstadt told the Buffalo News. “…That’s why I’m here. I’m here to learn, and I’m here to get ready for next season.” Buffalo will be looking for Mittelstadt to make an immediate impact. The Sabres have been outscored 11-1 in a three-game losing streak at KeyBank Center. Robin Lehner is 2-1-0 with a 1.63 goals-against average and .951 save percentage for Buffalo versus Detroit this season. However, the eight-year veteran has surrendered eight goals over his last two starts. The Red Wings’ Jimmy Howard has lost six straight road starts while posting a 3.60 GAA. He is 3-1-1 with a 1.43 GAA all-time in Buffalo. Backup Jared Coreau is 0-7-2 with a 4.57 GAA in 11 starts since blanking the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 16, 2017. He’s never faced the Sabres. According to a report last week, Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones was expected to skip at least the start of the team’s OTAs as he looks for a contract adjustment that would bump up his take-home pay in 2018. Jones has indeed been a no-show on the first two days of voluntary practice this week and that led to a question for team owner Arthur Blank at Tuesday’s league meetings in Atlanta. “It will be fine. It鈥檚 just a process we have to go through,” Blank said Tanoh Kpassagnon Jersey , via Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. Jones’ contract calls for a base salary of $10.5 million this year and the five-year pact has an average annual salary of $14.25 million. That currently ranks eighth among wide receivers. Last week’s report indicated the Falcons are amenable to revisiting Jones’ deal, but it’s not clear whether that will happen if he stays away from the team for the remainder of the offseason program. He would be eligible for fines if he does not take part in the team’s mandatory minicamp next month. Adidas Brock Boeser Jersey
  4. LeBron James was relaxed John Kuhn Jersey , reflective and even resigned to his fate. The end of the series, season and maybe his second stint in Cleveland, are near. The Golden State Warriors have made his eighth straight NBA Finals – and their seasonal rivalry with the Cavaliers – very one-sided. Still weary and wrestling with emotions after losing Game 3 on Wednesday night, when Kevin Durant scored 43 points and shot the Warriors within one win of their third title in four years, James pointed out Thursday what has become terrifyingly obvious. The Warriors are at another level. And may be for a while. ”Obviously, from a talent perspective, if you’re looking at Golden State from their top five best players to our top five players, you would say they’re stacked better than us. Let’s just speak truth,” James said before rattling off Golden State’s embarrassment of riches. ”Kevin Durant,” he said. ”You’ve got two guys with MVPs on their team. And then you’ve got a guy in Klay (Thompson) who could easily be on a team and carry a team Jonathan Stewart Jersey , scored 40 in a quarter before. And then you have Draymond (Green), who is arguably one of the best defenders and minds we have in our game. So you have that crew. ”Then you add on a Finals MVP coming off the bench (Andre Iguodala), a No. 1 pick in (Shawn) Livingston and an All-Star in David West and whatever the case may be. So they have a lot of talent.” Too much, it seems, for these Cavs. James wasn’t making excuses for Cleveland’s postseason pickle because if not for a reversed official’s call or J.R. Smith’s brain-lock in the closing seconds of regulation in Game 1 or Durant’s brilliance in Game 3, the Cavs could be leading the series. The three-time champion, though, was being open and honest about the Cavs’ chances to become the first team to overcome a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs. To this point, 131 have tried, and 131 have failed. ”We’ve been in a position where we could win two out of these three games Jimmy Smith Jersey ,” said James, who had 33 points and his 10th Finals triple-double in Game 3. ”So what do we have to do? Do we have to make more shots? Is it we have to have our minds into it a little bit more? Is it if there is a ball on the ground we can’t reach for it but you’ve got to dive for it?” Those were today’s relevant questions. Tomorrow, they’ll be different ones if the Warriors, who have dealt with adversity all season, sweep the Cavs. James is headed toward free agency and then where: Los Angeles? Philadelphia? Houston? Or will he decide it’s too painful to part again with Cleveland, his basketball home for 11 seasons and just up the highway from his actual home in Akron? The 33-year-old plans to consider everything once the season ends, but he offered some clues about what he’ll consider before making his next move, a decision that will dwarf any other NBA news in July. James also laid out a potential blueprint for the Cavs to follow if they want to keep him. Bottom line: James needs better, smarter teammates. No player in the league understands the current climate better than James, who formed a super-team in Miami with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and won two NBA titles before returning to Cleveland and joining forces with All-Stars Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. The Cavs’ reign lasted only one year Patrick Onwuasor Jersey , destroyed by Durant’s shocking departure from Oklahoma City for the 73-win Warriors, a team he couldn’t beat but was glad to join. James said his decision to bolt from the Cavs the first time was simple. ”I knew that my talent level here in Cleveland couldn’t succeed getting past a Boston, getting past the San Antonios of the league or whatever the case may be,” he said. But beyond the talent disparity, James said the key to winning a championship is ”you’ve got to be very cerebral too.” James then explained what it takes to be the last team standing, and in the process seemed to take a swipe at unnamed current and former teammates. ”So now everyone is trying to figure that out,” he said. ”How do you put together a group of talent but also a group of minds to be able to compete with Golden State, to be able to compete for a championship? That’s what GMs and presidents and certain players, it’s not every player. Every player does not want to – sad to say – but every player doesn’t want to compete for a championship and be in a position where every possession is pressure.” Months of weight will lifted off him once the Warriors, who haven’t lost four straight games since 2013 Morten Andersen Jersey , are crowned again. This series has been a painful reminder to James that the great teams have more than one king. ”When you make mistakes they make you pay,” he said, ”because they’re already more talented than you are but they also have the minds behind it, too, and they also have the championship DNA.” — The Dallas Cowboys are feeling more confident that they might have replaced Dez Bryant in free agency, so another day of the NFL draft could come and go without them taking a receiver. After picking linebacker Leighton Vander Esch of Boise State at No. 19 in the first round, the Cowboys have the 50th overall pick in the second round and the No. 81 overall selection in the third round Friday night. Executive vice president of personnel Stephen Jones says club officials talked extensively before selecting Vander Esch about how comfortable they were with the additions of receivers Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson in free agency. Jones says the Cowboys "believe there's some receivers, one through seven, that have some unique traits." The final four rounds of the draft are Saturday. The Cowboys released Bryant as a cost-cutting move earlier this month. The franchise leader in touchdown catches had three sub-par seasons after signing a big contract following an All-Pro year in 2014. Cheap USA Football Jerseys
  5. There were suggestions before the draft that some teams might want Lamar Jackson to play a position other than quarterback at the professional level Bronson Kaufusi Jersey , but there were no indications from the Ravens that they’d be moving him after they took him at the end of the first round. There’s still no sign that they’d consider moving him permanently, but they appear to be open to something on a temporary basis. They have been experimenting with formations that include both Jackson and starting quarterback Joe Flacco at the same time. “Gosh, I sure like him out there helping us,” coach John Harbaugh said, via ESPN.com. “If you put two quarterbacks on the field at once Tahir Whitehead Jersey , what options does it create for our offense? That’s what we’re trying to figure out. …聽Joe has to be able to do other things if [Jackson is] throwing the ball. It gets the creative juices flowing for our offensive coaches, and they’ve worked hard on that.” Jackson said it has been fun seeing “what they’re going to come up with next” and time will tell how many of these ideas survive the drawing board to become an actual part of the Baltimore offense during the 2018 season. The Washington Redskins signed former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Paul Richardson to a five-year deal in the hopes that he provides them the outside speed threat they lacked last season after the departure of DeSean Jackson. Richardson had 95 catches for 1,302 yards and eight touchdowns in four seasons with the Seahawks after they drafted him in the second round in 2014. He had 44 receptions for 703 yards and six touchdowns last season. The 25-year-old said he can ”beat guys downfield, take the top off the coverages, challenge people downfield.” He’ll be tasked to do that after his breakout 2017. ”Stretch the offense Sammy Watkins Jersey , stretch the defense,” senior vice president of player personnel Doug Williams said Thursday. ”When the defense knows that you don’t have the speed, they all come up and just cover you up and make you throw the ball underneath and it kind of kills the offense. Now they’ve got to respect Paul Richardson.” According to multiple reports, Richardson’s deal is worth $40 million. Richardson joins a Redskins receiving group that also includes Jamison Crowder, 2016 first-round pick Josh Doctson and Brian Quick O. J. Simpson Jersey , who was re-signed this week. The Redskins will look very different in the passing game with recently acquired quarterback Alex Smith replacing Kirk Cousins and receivers Ryan Grant and Terrelle Pryor and tight end Niles Paul gone. Richardson said he looks forward to developing chemistry and trust with Smith. ”I want him to know I’m always available,” Richardson said. ”Just throw it. It don’t matter where it is. I’m going to go get it. And I’m going to turn him into a believer.” On Thursday, Washington wrapped up a three-year deal with linebacker Zach Brown, who led the league with 127 tackles through Week 15 before his season was cut short by injury. ”We’re glad to have Zach back,” coach Jay Gruden said. ”To have him in his second year in this system is very important. He’ll be a lot more comfortable. To get him back here for another year is important for our defense.” Washington also signed former Dallas Cowboys punter Sam Irwin-Hill Everson Griffen Jersey , according to a tweet from his agent. 6. NFL officials will be in Dallas for a clinic this weekend and the work done to get them ready to call the league’s new rules regarding helmet use will be a major topic. It’s not the only big rules change in store for the 2018 season Chris Jones Jersey , however. The league has also revised the rules for kickoffs to alter where players line up prior to the kick, eliminate wedge blocking and change when players on the return team are allowed to initiate blocks. Former NFL referee Terry McAulay, who retired this offseason and took a rules analyst job with NBC, will attend the clinic and said that potential issues implementing the kickoff changes shouldn’t be downplayed. “It isn’t getting as much press, but the kickoff change, this may be the biggest change I’ve ever seen,” McAulay said, via ESPN.com. “People know so little about it. There are so many restrictions on what either side of the ball can do. … I spoke with a special-teams coordinator who is excited about it, and I know we all feel it can be great for the game. But [officials] have to wait and see. There are a lot of intricate rules in terms of what [players] can and cannot do.” The NFL preseason starts on August 2 when the Bears and Ravens face off in the Hall of Fame Game. That contest and the exhibition games to follow will provide the first hints about how the new-look kickoffs will be officiated this season. The only time Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen ever felt rattled on his first day of practice was shortly after the session ended Friday. That's when coach Sean McDermott escorted the first-round pick to the sideline and introduced him to Jim Kelly in what became a meeting of the team's hopeful future and legendary past. "I'm still shaking from meeting him DeAndre Washington Jersey ," Allen said. Though Allen grew up in central California and played college at Wyoming, the 21-year-old is very aware of who Kelly is and what he means to Buffalo. "It's all on the wall," Allen said, pointing the four AFC Championship banners the Kelly-led teams won from 1990-'93. Allen also knows how tough Kelly is in his ongoing battle with cancer. "I can't say anything else but he's a special man. He's been through a lot," he said. "And to be in the spirits that he is and to come out here and show support for the Buffalo Bills, that just shows to me how much he means to Buffalo and Buffalo means to him. It's awesome." Kelly made a surprise visit for the start of two-day rookie minicamp some six weeks after his latest operation to have cancer removed from his jaw. Kelly walked with a cane and had difficulty speaking. He raised his right thumb while he and Allen posed for pictures. Said Kelly: "It's the best thing I can do: Thumbs up." The Bills are pinning their hopes on Allen to fill what's been their most unsettled position since Kelly retired following the 1996 season. Buffalo traded up five spots in the draft order to select him with the No. 7 pick two weeks ago. Allen became just the fourth quarterback selected by Buffalo in the first round, and first chosen in the top 10 of the draft order. He joins a team once again shuffling starters after Tyrod Taylor was traded to Cleveland in March despite helping Buffalo to a 9-7 finish and end a 17-year playoff drought. At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Allen is a raw, but strong-armed and athletic quarterback. He was a two-year starter at Wyoming Jaron Brown Jersey , where he completed 365 of 649 for 5,066 yards with 44 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. Allen was knocked for his relatively low completion percentage of 56.2 and mechanics, something he spent working on this offseason. McDermott isn't providing any guarantees in saying Allen will compete for the starting job with offseason free-agent addition A.J. McCarron and second-year player Nathan Peterman. "We've got a plan in place for all of our players, and in this case Josh, in terms of bringing them along at the right pace," McDermott said. Allen threw a few wobbly or high passes to his right. He was far more accurate with passes to his left and over the middle. Allen showed off his strong arm, by completing several deep passes, including one to rookie seventh-round pick Austin Proehl. He was also intercepted once during one-on-one drills. His hard, high pass over the middle slipped through receiver William Scott's hands and to a defensive back. "I felt like I've made a lot of strides Eddie Yarbrough Jersey ," Allen said. "I felt like I put the ball where it needed to be most of the time. Obviously, there's some throws that I would like back. But as we progress through this rookie minicamp and through the rookie developmental period, I plan to improve every day." He was pleased in learning how Kelly was overheard praising a few of his throws. Allen said Kelly first contacted him by text in welcoming him to Buffalo the day after being drafted. "Hopefully, in the near future we can keep that relationship going," Allen said. "Any rookie that can develop a mentorship with a former quarterback like Jim Kelly, it's going to be huge." NOTES: The Bills signed fourth-round pick, Weber State cornerback Taron Johnson. That leaves their top-three selections unsigned, including third-round pick, Stanford defensive tackle Harrison Phillips. ... The Bills also signed 12 undrafted free agents including Arizona guard Gerhard De Beer James Develin Jersey , who is from South Africa. He was a Pac-12 discuss throwing champion and made the switch to football. ... Also signed were defensive linemen Mat Boesen (TCU) and Mike Love (South Florida), linebacker Corey Thompson (LSU), cornerbacks Ryan Carter (Clemson) and Levi Wallace (Alabama), running back Keith Ford (Texas A and M), receivers Robert Foster (Alabama) and Cam Phillips (Virginia Tech), offensive linemen Ike Boettger (Iowa) and Mo Porter (Baylor), and Penn State kicker Tyler Davis. 7. Tony Dungy will receive the Pat Summerall Award at the Legends for Charity dinner benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during Super Bowl week. The Pro Football Hall of Fame coach and current analyst for NBC will be recognized on Feb. 1 for his community service Fred Warner Jersey , leadership and charity work. ”We are incredibly honored that Tony Dungy will be receiving the prestigious Pat Summerall Award during the annual Legends for Charity dinner benefiting St. Jude during Super 52, the biggest week in professional sports,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., president and CEO of ALSAC O. J. Howard Jersey , the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude’s. ”Coach Dungy has been a beloved mentor to athletes and fellow broadcasters and has made a significant difference in the lives of children, adults and other athletes through his active involvement and extraordinary leadership with various charitable endeavors. He exemplifies the true meaning of what this award was created to represent, which is why he is so deserving of an award and honor of this magnitude.” Dungy led the Indianapolis Colts to Super Bowl victory in 2007, the first black head coach to win the NFL title. — The Buffalo Bills continue shuffling their defensive front during the first week of training camp by signing end Ryan Russell. Russell is listed at 6-foot-5 and 267 pounds Jim Kelly Jersey , and has three seasons of NFL experience, including the past two with Tampa Bay. He had two sacks in 14 games, including six starts, with the Buccaneers last season. He was selected by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2015 draft out of Purdue Tyreek Hill Jersey , but appeared in just one game for the Cowboys. Buffalo freed up room on its roster on Sunday by releasing Owa Odighizuwa, an offseason free agent addition. Odighizuwa was attempting to resume his career after missing all of last season, when he was cut by the New York Giants shortly after being issued a four-game NFL suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancers. The Bills opened training camp Thursday by signing defensive tackle John Hughes. Injuries have depleted Buffalo's depth at tight end. Nick O'Leary missed practice Sunday because of an injury to his right foot. Logan Thomas did not return to practice Sunday after hurting his shoulder. Buffalo is off Monday and resumes camp Tuesday in suburban Rochester. Womens Marcus Davenport Jersey
  8. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick Maxx Williams Jersey , who appeared in six games last season. He is 35 years old and has played 13 seasons in the NFL. He returns on a one-year contract. Fitzpatrick started three games while filling in for injured Jameis Winston in 2017. He completed 96 of163 passes for 1,103 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions. He also has played for the St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals Justin Tucker Jersey , Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and New York Jets. Fitzpatrick was drafted by the Rams out of Harvard in 2005 in the seventh round. His 173 passing touchdowns are the most by an Ivy League quarterback. — The Cowboys are not expected to reach a deal with defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence before Monday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, according to multiple reports. Lawrence repeatedly has said he has no problem playing under the $17.1 million franchise tag Janoris Jenkins Jersey , giving him a chance to “break the bank” in free agency next year. Of course, Lawrence is forgetting that if he repeats what he did last season, the Cowboys surely will franchise him again at a projected $20.5 million tag. Besides, the Cowboys almost always get long-term deals done with players they want to keep Trevor Siemian Jersey , and they want to keep Lawrence. They recently made Zack Martin the highest-paid guard in NFL history, signing him to a six-year, $84 million extension that includes $40 million guaranteed. How much will Lawrence get? Defensive linemen Jadeveon Clowney, Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack also are seeking long-term deals Aaron Ripkowski Jersey , so one of them likely sets the bar for Lawrence. The Cowboys also will get another season to confirm Lawrence is a “war daddy” pass rusher and not a one-hit wonder. 9. The return to a classic U.S. Open course brought back the kind of scoring that gave this major its reputation. Dustin Johnson played some of his best golf and yet the world’s No. 1 player barely beat par in the treacherous wind at Shinnecock Hills. Johnson holed a bunker shot for birdie Keanu Neal Jersey , kept his mistakes to a minimum and joined Ian Poulter, Scott Piercy and Russell Henley at 1-under 69 for a share of the lead. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and a long list of golf’s bests had their hopes crushed in gusts that approached 25 mph that made fairways look more narrow and the shin-high rough difficult to avoid. In his return to the U.S. Open after a two-year absence, Woods opened a major with a triple bogey for the first time in 15 years. He added back-to-back double bogeys on the back nine and staggered to a 78. Spieth shot 80, his highest first-round score in a major. Jason Dufner opened with a 70, and even those at 1-over 71 felt as though they put in a hard day’s work, a group that included Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. 10. On a day when they made a trade to strengthen the back of their bullpen Latavius Murray Jersey , the Oakland Athletics overcame their All-Star closer’s fourth blown save and kept their late-inning magic going. In front of the largest crowd to watch a baseball game at the Coliseum, no less. Jonathan Lucroy singled home Matt Chapman in the 11th inning to give the A’s a 4-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night. ”It looked like we were trying to give it to them a couple of times . so it was a very rewarding win,” Oakland manager Bob Melvin said. ”Lucroy was supposed to get a day off, and he’s the guy who ends up getting the hit.” Hours after acquiring reliever Jeurys Familia from the New York Mets, the A’s improved to a major league-best 22-7 since June 16 with their third win in five games against their Northern California rivals. The game between Bay Area foes drew 56,310 fans – the biggest crowd in the majors this season – as the Athletics celebrated their 1989 World Series championship with a pregame reunion that featured former stars such as Rickey Henderson, Dennis Eckersley and Jose Canseco. Oakland squandered a 3-2 lead in the ninth and wasted a bases-loaded opportunity in the bottom of the inning before winning on Lucroy’s second walk-off hit this season. Will Smith (0-1) retired the first two A’s batters in the 11th before Chapman and Chad Pinder hit consecutive two-out singles. Lucroy, who entered as a defensive replacement in the 10th, lined a 1-2 pitch into left-center to score Chapman easily. ”It’s fun being on the field for that,” Lucroy said. ”Any time you get that energy from the crowd it really is a special time. I wish we could do that every night here because it’s a lot of fun.” Chapman finished with three hits and Yusmeiro Petit (5-2) got three outs for the win. The Giants tied the score in the ninth when Alen Hanson reached on a wild pitch after striking out against All-Star closer Blake Treinen and scored on Hunter Pence’s double that rolled into San Francisco’s bullpen down the right-field line. Melvin asked for clarification for possible interference after replays showed right fielder Stephen Piscotty running into a chair held by Giants reliever Mark Melancon. After a short review Ali Marpet Jersey , the call on the field was confirmed. ”It’s always been a little sketchy down there with the chairs being moved and guys sitting outside of that area,” Melvin said. ”I was looking for some sort of interference and the rule is unless it was intentional, you play it.” Brandon Belt hit his 14th home run for San Francisco. ”What a comeback there in the ninth,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. ”But they found a way to win the game. Two outs with nobody on and they get a couple of ground balls to get through, then they get the big hit.” Oakland led early after taking advantage of a historically wild night by Giants ace Madison Bumgarner. The left-hander lasted four innings – his shortest stint in more than three years – and struggled with his command while issuing a career-high six walks. Four came in the fifth inning when Bumgarner failed to record an out, two with the bases loaded. ”I lost the feel in the fifth,” he said. ”Just couldn’t throw strikes.” It was the first time in his career that Bumgarner walked in two runs and it ended a streak of 89 games in which he had gone five innings or more, which had been the longest active run in the majors. Starting pitcher Sal Romano’s suicide squeeze capped Cincinnati’s six-run fourth inning, and the Reds rallied to beat the Chicago White Sox 7-4 on Wednesday night. ”It was nice to be able to contribute with the bat,” said Romano, who was hitting .038 going into the game. ”The first thought when I saw the signal, I thought the number one thing was get the ball down wherever the pitch was. I was excited. I have never done it before. It was definitely a big insurance run and got the out of the game.” Jesse Winker and Jose Peraza each had a two-run single during the big inning, and Scooter Gennett also singled in a run. The Reds overcame Daniel Palka’s third home run in two games to win the three-game series and complete a 4-3 homestand before a crowd of 24 Dustin Colquitt Jersey ,442, which stayed for a postgame fireworks show. The Reds have won 13 of 17 and have come from behind in eight of their last 11 wins. Yoan Moncada added a two-run homer for the White Sox, who have dropped five of seven and 14 of 20. Cincinnati improved to 8-2 in interleague play, the most wins since going 11-9 in 2013. The White Sox are 4-11 against NL teams. Romano (5-8) struck out six and allowing six hits and four runs in five innings. His bunt back to the mound brought home Adam Duvall for the final run of Cincinnati’s breakout fourth inning. Reds relievers Amir Garrett and Michael Lorenzen teamed up for 2 1/3 scoreless innings before Jared Hughes celebrated his 33rd birthday by pitching the final 1 2/3 for his sixth save. Dylan Covey retired his first nine batters before the Reds erupted for five hits and six runs while sending 10 batters to the plate in the fourth. Winker and Peraza each had a two-run single before Romano’s bunt knocked Covey (3-4) out of the game. Covey allowed a walk, struck out two and hit a batter in 3 2/3 innings. ”I was trying to get ground balls, but I was leaving my pitches elevated,” Covey said. ”I tried to make adjustments. That’s not my game, I’ve got to keep the ball down.” ”Their guy was shutting us down pretty good,” Reds interim manager Jim Riggleman said. ”We saw some things from him better the second time around. We put together some good at-bats.” Moncada, whose 12th-inning bases-loaded triple broke open Chicago’s 12-3 win Tuesday Matt Breida Jersey , gave the White Sox a 2-0 lead with a two-out, two-run homer in the third. Palka went deep for a 3-0 lead in the fourth. The Reds added a run in the eighth on pitcher Chris Volstad’s bases-loaded throwing error. 11. The Detroit Lions made a significant move on the first day of free agency. It wasn't an addition. On an otherwise quiet Wednesday Adam Thielen Jersey , the Lions announced they were releasing tight end Eric Ebron. The 10th overall pick in the 2014 draft would have earned $8.25 million this season if he had remained on the roster past 4 p.m. Ebron had flashes in his four years with the Lions, catching 186 passes for 2,070 yards and 11 touchdowns, but poor hands and inconsistent play made him a target for boos at Ford Field. Much of the frustration came from the players Detroit passed to pick him so early in the draft. Six of the next seven players chosen have gone to at least one Pro Bowl, including New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (selected 12th) and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald (13th). Ebron, on the other hand, never lived up to the potential he showed at North Carolina. Ebron is fast Davon House Jersey , and the Lions thought he would be a deep threat next to Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. However, he only caught 25 of 47 targets as a rookie and scored one touchdown while averaging 9.9 yards per reception. While his hands improved over the next three seasons, he was never able to provide Matthew Stafford with consistent playmaking. In the first half of last season, he pulled in 18 of 36 targets and was booed when he was shown during a charity announcement on the Ford Field video board. He improved in the second half of the season, but the Lions decided they could find a cheaper option in free agency or the draft. Detroit re-signed cornerback Nevin Lawson, linebacker Nick Bellore and quarterback Jake Rudock, and also announced the signing of free-agent defensive back DeShawn Shead. Shead Gabe Jackson Jersey , 28, played his first six seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, winning a Super Bowl in the 2013 season. He started 15 games at cornerback in 2016, but tore his ACL in a postseason loss to the Atlanta Falcons and only got into two games last season. Shead is expected to compete with Lawson and Teez Tabor for a starting spot at cornerback opposite All-Pro Darius Slay. Bellore is a special-teams contributor who has seen time at linebacker and fullback, while Rudock will go into his third season as Stafford's backup. Rudock threw his first NFL passes in relief of Stafford in a 44-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 3. He completed three of five attempts, but also threw an interception that Eric Weddle returned 45 yards for a touchdown. The Thunder might be without starting shooting guard Corey Brewer for their first-round playoff series opener Sunday against Utah. Brewer sprained his right knee during Oklahoma City’s regular-season finale against Memphis. He did light work Friday and didn’t practice. Another Thunder shooting guard, Alex Abrines Nico Siragusa Jersey , is in concussion protocol. He was injured during a win over the Miami Heat on Monday and didn’t play against Memphis. The reserve averages 4.7 points per game and has made 84 3-pointers this season. Coach Billy Donovan said he’s not sure if either will be ready for the opener. ”I don’t know that yet,” he said. ”We’ll have to get closer to that. I don’t want to speculate either way. Every day, we’ll find out a little more.” The Thunder added the 32-year-old Brewer after the All-Star break to fill the void left when Andre Roberson was knocked out for the season with a ruptured left patellar tendon. Brewer started 16 of 18 games with the Thunder and posted averages of 10.1 points and 2.1 steals per game. Oklahoma City is 11-5 with him as a starter. The injuries could force 19-year-old rookie Terrance Ferguson into a more significant role. Ferguson has 12 starts this season and averages 3.1 points for the season. He’s an explosive dunker and an improving 3-point shooter. ”Eighty-two games, I think, has helped him,” Donovan said. ”He’s obviously been able to be in the rotation. I think that was really important during the year.” Donovan didn’t say how he would adjust if Brewer and Abrines are unavailable. He said Ferguson’s mental approach will help him if he is given more responsibility. ”He’s done a really good job of keeping himself ready and focused,” Donovan said. ”Obviously Patrick Mahomes II Jersey , the playoffs are new for him. This is the first time he’s going through it. I’ve got a lot of confidence in Terrance just because of his competitiveness and how hard he works, and he’s a bright guy and will put forth a great effort getting himself prepared and ready to play.” — Authentic Womens Cordy Glenn Jersey
  12. A former NFL linebacker's career was cut short after authorities in New Jersey fabricated evidence linking him to a gun used in a shooting Chris Hogan Jersey , the player alleged in a lawsuit filed this week. The Elizabeth police department and Union County prosecutor's office "willfully ignored and were deliberately indifferent to overwhelming evidence" that Khaseem Greene hadn't provided the weapon used in a shooting outside a nightclub in Elizabeth in December 2016, Greene says in the suit. The Kansas City Chiefs released Greene in May of last year, the day charges against him were reported. Two months later, a gun charge against Greene was dropped after an audio recording surfaced of the accused shooter telling detectives he lied about Greene's involvement in the shooting. The lawsuit filed Tuesday accuses the police and prosecutor's office of "simultaneously manufacturing and fabricating false evidence in order to charge Plaintiff with a crime he did not commit." A spokesman for the county prosecutor's office declined comment Thursday. A message left at the Elizabeth police department wasn't immediately returned. The 29-year-old Greene is an Elizabeth native who was a Big East defensive player of the year while at Rutgers. He appeared in a total of 25 games for the Chicago Bears in the 2013 and 2014 seasons, starting six games at linebacker. The lawsuit charges numerous counts including civil rights violations, false arrest and imprisonment, malicious prosecution, negligence and defamation. It seeks unspecified punitive and compensatory damages, including for past and future economic loss. It also seeks the appointment of an independent monitor to oversee the Elizabeth police department. According to the lawsuit, the man charged with the shooting Sean Harlow Jersey , a career criminal with more than 20 prior arrests and six felony convictions, admitted he lied about getting the gun from Greene during an interview with police after his arrest in late December 2016. Nevertheless, authorities went ahead and charged Greene, citing surveillance video that allegedly showed Greene handing the gun to the man. No such video existed, the lawsuit alleges. Greene last August said the legal trouble has been "probably the toughest time of my life" and has been "very hard emotionally and mentally." "People started looking at me differently and accusing me of being this thug, this monster, and all of it was false," he said by phone. The suit names the Elizabeth Police Department and the Union County Prosecutor's Office as well as individuals in both offices. After Washington’s Markieff Morris dunked with 4:06 left, Wright replied with a 3 and, after a missed shot by Wall, converted a layup off a pass from DeRozan to give the Raptors a 99-93 lead with 2:59 remaining. With his team among the first to report for training camp Tre Madden Jersey , Smith becomes the first 2018 rookie to not show up. So what’s the issue? The renewed wrestling match over offset language, as one league source explained it to PFT, is more of a problem at the very top of round one. Regardless, the Bears officially head to training camp on Thursday, and Smith won’t be there — unless he blinks, the team blinks, or the two sides fashion a compromise on whatever the issues are that are keeping a deal from getting done. 15. The Baltimore Ravens provided quarterback Joe Flacco with two new potential targets Wednesday Harold Landry Color Rush Jersey , agreeing to terms with wide receivers Ryan Grant and John Brown on the first day of free agency. Addressing a position that is a top priority this offseason, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome added a pair of 27-year-olds he hopes can improve a passing attack that last year ranked 27th in the NFL. To help make room for the newcomers, Newsome freed an estimated $5 million in salary cap space by cutting receiver Jeremy Maclin. Grant has played in 64 games, including 15 starts, with the Washington Redskins. The 2014 fifth-round draft pick out of Tulane set career highs in 2017 with 45 catches for 573 yards and four touchdowns. Brown has played four NFL seasons, all with Arizona. Selected in the third round of the 2014 draft, Brown has 173 career catches for 2,515 yards and 17 TDs. The contracts are pending the passing of physicals. Grant reportedly received a four-year contract and Brown agreed to a one-year pact. The Ravens are counting on Grant to continue the improvement he showed last season. Though he has never had a 100-yard receiving game and has scored only six career touchdowns, he ranked second on the Redskins in 2017 in catches and TD receptions. Brown's best season was in 2015, when he had 65 catches for 1,003 yards and seven scores. After a season in which Baltimore's wideouts totaled 11 touchdown receptions, the team made no secret of its desire to bolster the receiving corps. "We will be exploring all options in free agency and in the draft for targets for Joe (Flacco)," owner Steve Bisciotti said. That was a focus last season, too Leighton Vander Esch Jersey Elite , but Maclin did not live up to expectations. Baltimore signed Maclin as a free agent in June, hopeful the accomplished pass catcher would regain the form he showed in 2015 with Kansas City, when he had 87 catches for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns. But Maclin missed two games with a shoulder injury, two more with knee issues, and finished with only 40 catches for 440 yards and three touchdowns. That, along with the poor performance of 2015 first-round pick Breshad Perriman (10 catches, 77 yards, no TDs), left the Ravens looking for speed outside after finishing 9-7 and missing the playoffs for a third straight season. Mike Wallace, who had 52 catches for a team-high 748 yards in 2017, became a free agent Wednesday. It is unclear whether the Ravens will attempt to bring him back the 31-year-old, nine-year pro.
