I am happy to announce we will be bringing back the community gamer spotlight interviews! I will be conducting them, and at the pace of once per month, but perhaps once every two weeks again, we shall see. But to do that, I will need a lot of people interested in being interviewed! If you would like to be featured, send me a PM and I will get back to you.
But, to kick us off, I will be answering my own questions I have written up to use in these interviews. I hope my answers aren't too boring, haha. Enjoy!

The Basics:
What is your real name and how old are you? My name is Jeff Ambrose and I am 23, halfway to 24.
Where do you live? Do you like it there? Hate it? What’s it like? I live in Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. I absolutely love it. The Gamestop where I work is two blocks from my house, a generally friendly and quiet neighborhood, and close to Philly for concerts and museums.
What’s your gaming alias/ gamertag/ etc.? How did you come to choose that name? Was it chosen for you? Any fun stories? Well, this is difficult, because, quite literally, I’ve changed my gamertag at least fifty times. Ask any of my close friends and they can verify this, haha. But, the name I always used to return to, and is still basically my AIM name, is Truth is a Liar. I am a big time English student, and Hamlet is my favorite play, by far. My favorite quotation is the failed love letter Hamlet is writing to Ophelia. “Doubt that the stars are fire/ Doubt that the sun doth move/ Doubt truth to be a liar/ But never doubt I love.” So brilliant and so beautiful. That’s where my name came from. vVv Truth was taken by a poser as a gamertag i guess, so i am vVv Truth Lies on XBL.
Let’s say you’re asked, by someone at school or a good friend from online, what is vVv – what would be your answer? vVv is a professional gaming organization that sponsors top players in many of the biggest competitive video games. The community is definitely intense and most of the long-term members count the fellow members who have achieved the three v’s as their second family. This speaks to the passion, dedication, and quality of the relationships vVv tries to build for both its members and its sponsors. At the end of the day, we are not a “gaming clan” as some seem to classify us as; vVv is a forward-thinking gaming business that focuses on professional development of its teams and its members to move forward in their lives, whether it be with video games or not.
What’s your educational background? What do you love about school? What do you hate? I went to a very small private school for nine years (k-8th) that had 200 students in the entire school. It was some of the best years of my life, and it made me love learning because of the kindness of the teachers. High school was the opposite, 4 years at a public high school with 4,200 students. I was anti-social, but finished in the top 5% of my graduating class of 982 students. Undergraduate I went to a small college in Pennsylvania, where I ran the drama club and wrote a lot. I am now about to begin my last year of Grad School at the University of Vermont in English Literature. My master’s thesis will be on children’s fantasy, primarily the Harry Potter series, focusing on why the books even contain magic when it is never the focal point and human emotions are given ultimate power. As for what I love, I love to read and draw the most.
Let’s run through some favorites, some normal, some out there –
Animal? Tie between penguins and dogs.
Band/ artist? Incubus, though Kings of Leon is getting closer in second.
Period of history? Ancient Egypt. It’s just always fascinated me with how much they were able to accomplish in a time where most civilizations were centuries behind.
Food? All of it, I eat way too much, but my favorite thing is Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard sauce.
Video game? Bioshock and Bioshock 2. They are both masterpieces to me.
Memory? Difficult to choose one, but one that I always cherish is winning the skills champion trophy at a summer soccer camp taught by the local professional team and their star goalie, my soccer idol, telling me he enjoyed watching me play.

The fun stuff:
What are your favorite types of games? Why those? Horror, because their stories are generally amazing, and I love the atmospheres they can create when done well. Platformers are a close second because I love the many styles of gameplay contained in the games, such as Psychonauts, Jak II, and Zelda: Majora’s Mask.
What are your major interests outside of gaming? And if you say girls or partying, you will be banned. <3 I love television. I’m just a classic couch potato. I love Ghost hunters, Ghost Adventures, a lot of Food Network shows, Family Guy, Simpsons, ESPN, and of course Glee. When I actually am not intimately involved with my TV, I love to read, draw, and go to museums or the movies.
Best personal gaming moment, everyone has one. What is yours? In Halo 2, in double team with my friend and roommate, every time we won we, like everyone, were told we suck and would lose in a custom 2v2. On one such occasion we took them up on the offer after winning CTF 3-0 in the playlist. We did MLG 2v2 on Lockout as the custom. We led most of the way with solid teamwork and some amazing snipes by me but then we started sucking and trailed 48-44. Then, we had one of the most epic comebacks of all time and won 50-49 on an insane last play that was a no shield double kill. I still have the full game on my laptop and I have the comeback portion on my youtube channel if you want to see, haha.
10 years from now, what do you see yourself doing? Well, as much as I love reading and writing English literature, video games are my biggest passion. Ideally, I want to be a script writer for a video game company, and/or still a staff member on vVv which would be a great paid position by then.
To you, what is the best sport to play and the best one to watch? Why? I was the biggest soccer nut ever until my emergency brain surgery in 8th grade, so that’s my favorite sport to play. As for watching, it would either be World Cup soccer or tennis grand slams. Though, I must admit I watch almost every Flyers and Phillies game as well since I’m a homer, haha, and love the teams dearly.
Trip for the day – beach, museum, hiking or play it by ear? Why that choice? A big history/ art/ archaeology museum. I just love walking through so much history and am so fascinated to see it every time. I dunno what it is exactly, but museums have my heart. I love them.
Okay, you’re given free reign in making a movie – what’s it called, who’s in it, and why does this movie matter? I would definitely make a horror or murder mystery movie since they’re my favorites. I’d probably base it on a favorite book in those genres and adapt it. So, to be specific, I’d turn Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston’s mystery novel Still Life with Crows into a film. I don’t really like big name actors in established source movies because I see them as past characters. So, I’d have to say an unknown person would be Special Agent Pendergasy. Someone tall, thin and pale, though, to fit the character. I’d name the movie the same title as the book and the movie matters because it is great literature brought to life. A great character study for Pendergast, the young girl who helps him, and the mentally challenged serial killer they chase.
Back to vVv, any shout-outs you’d like to give? First must be Solid, who brought me here, love the guy and he has made me a much better Halo player. Other shoutouts, I’ll just keep it to names since I’ve written enough already, haha. Robbie, Turtle, Mike, Mayday, Rapture, Chibees, ULTRA, Doom and Jerry.
Why do you like vVv? I love video games and talking about them. It’s a natural fit, haha. But it is a great and vibrant community that helps each other out and supports each other. I love how professional my fellow staff members are and Jerry will continue to advance the organization.
What do you think vVv could do better? I think we are equal parts too kind to some people and too harsh to others, so we need to find the middle ground and a as whole avoid lowering ourselves to the levels of others.
And, of course, LordJerith – badass of the millennium or genius of this eon? Lord Jerith is Chuck Norris’s idol.
