vVv is proud to announce the winner of the HoN Invitational Tournament: Team 5!
Facing off against Loaded in the grand finals, 5 successfully defeated the opposing team in a 2-1, Best-of-Three finale. With 5 having the 1-0 coming from the winner’s bracket, the first match of the grand finals was a crucial win for Loaded, a victory which they pulled off swiftly despite 5’s efforts. Tied at 1-1, 5 fought back hard, and after a nail-biting dominant second match 5 emerged victorious over Loaded! We talked with Bdiz from Team 5 after the finals about their strategies going into the grand finals:
“When you play any team as many times as we've played LOADED, you become familiar with their general strategy and you can formulate a game plan that'll hopefully give you an edge. Obviously in the first game it didn't work out for us at all; however we made some further adjustments which showed in our dominance in game two.”

With another win under their belts, and some excellent ability shown to the world through the shoutcasts, we also asked 5, who has remained their own entity in terms of sponsorship, what sort of offers have come their way, and is anything in the works? Bdiz commented:
“We have been approached by numerous organizations, and are working at closing a deal with a very major Sponsor in the e-Sports scene. Look for an announcement hopefully early next week!”
Sadly, we didn’t get any good hints on who that sponsor might be, so were stuck in waiting just like everyone else to see who will pick up this tremendous team! Perhaps they’ve grabbed the attention of a former DotA sponsor with their addition of Draskyl? On that note, we discussed 5’s opinion on the current state of HoN, how they felt it has progressed, and what sort of future they see for HoN.
“HoN has come a long way since it started. There's been a ton of balance changes, new heroes, and even aesthetic changes such as Spectator UI and the overall user interface that have helped to shape HoN into the great game it is today. We're all extremely satisfied with the rate at which S2 updates the game, in terms of new balance changes and new heroes / DotA ports, and we're looking to see what S2 has in store for everyone. Hopefully they'll port more of the DotA favorites such as Kunkka, Meepo, Morphling and Storm Spirit!”
Once again, congratulations to Team 5 on their tournament victory! vVv also expresses tremendous appreciation to all the teams that participated, S2 Games and HoNCast for their help, support, and hard work!
