We have moved to Discord   08/04/2016

There has been a strong desire among the community to migrate to Discord for quite some time. As of today, our community will be using Discord and as a result, we will no longer be actively using our TeamSpeak Server.  The TeamSpeak server will temporarily stay active to help inform all of our move to Discord. Within the next couple of months, it will be shut down completely.  For a quick invite to our new Discord server, you can click here.

The Transition

Plague of Rats

Hello vVv Community,

Many of you in the community know me from the League of Legends ever since I became a member of vVv. However after taking a closer look into my life I realized that video gaming no longer made me happy. I was constantly angry and I became very cynical towards others in my actual life that I was actually pushing my friends and family away. So I decided to just play some non-multiplayer games to take a step back and really evaluate what was going on in my life that was causing all this inner animosity. So what I did was every week I would stop playing one multiplayer game and then record my moods/feeling for that week while absent of that game. I did this for about five weeks until it was the week were League of Legends was up. At first I thought it was going to be a rough week and even make me angrier because I was going to be absent from the game that I loved and cared about the most. However as the week progressed I started to see myself more as me instead of the angry shell that I had become. I then decided to stop playing League of another week to see if I got the same results, and I did. I would be lying to you all if I said that League hasn't changed my life. League of Legends drew me to this community that I know and love, League of Legends brought me together and solidified everlasting friendships. At one point in my life it was the medicine that I wanted and needed, but over time it slowly became the poison. Now its been a little over a month since I have even logged in to League. And my life has never been better. League will always be apart of my life in the way that it shaped me, however I cannot see myself returning to it any time soon.

Good luck finding yourself! I know someone similar to you, he had the same problem and he stopped playing for a solid month. Now he's back to it and much calmer. I think this will be a good thing for you! :)

Thanks for sharing this, it's a rare look behind the Kappas and Kreygasms that you usually express as your personality.  I think the negative environment in LoL's ranked system chases a lot of people away and it takes a lot of practice to learn to deal with it in a positive way.  I know one easy way people deal with toxicity is to just mute everyone in game at the start of the game.  Did you try that before you gave up on it?  I think it would be worth trying and then recording your feelings for that week to see if you revert back to being angry or if it helps you find more positivity in the experience.

Whenever I played League I would also mute everyone in game because of coarse there are going to be some people that just complain, whine, and blame everyone on their team for their own mistakes. However the majority of the toxicity that I encountered in LoL happened in the champion select where you cannot mute your teammates. And it was through the pre-game toxicity that lead me to start not having fun with the game.
