While the times of Pathfinder Alpha seem to be going in the right direction the Goblinworks Inc company made by far the smartest decision ever.
The Cold Start,
Goblinworks went through the painstaking task to simulate the effects of Early Access. I was surprised that they moved for this since I have never heard of a company doing this before. It was by far the most enjoyable thing that they had done since during this time you could get a ton of exp and then level some skills. This not only let you try out the skill leveling system but it also let you try out the said leveled crafting skills.
Next thing that happened was the 'Read All About It!'
In this 'patch' they sent out a list of things that they wanted everyone to try and do during the Alpha. In this update they also doubled the amount of players that will be in the Alpha!
If you are like me and have been playing the Alpha. You will find out that yes, there is a sad lack of players that are in the starting zones or even doing things in the area. Most of them have already moved out and are doing things out in the wild. But when they double the amount of players this should make it easier for the new people to get integrated since they can ask questions and get answers from the others who have been playing.
The community has been very welcoming and helpful to anyone who has asked questions or even needed help with stuff. This is a great thing to see even this early in the game. If this keeps on going we will be sure to have one of the best communities ever.
Good job Goblinworks, 10/10 so far. Keep it up!
That is all.
Pathfinder Alpha 6 is BY FAR the best build of the game so far. You can really tell that the people of Goblinworks Inc. are putting their heart and soul (and most likely some broken fingers) into this game. The new UI is 100x better, the characters are starting to look better and better. In all honesty I think that at this rate by the time its per say Alpha 8 we will be having graphics better then that of WoW.
In other news. It has been rumored that Obsidian Games is going to make a "Neverwinter Knights" style game of Pathfinder for the computer. Those who haven't played Neverwinter Knights please do so, its an amazing game and while I am not supposed to be plugging DnD on a Paizo post but none the less.
In other other news. My internet is fixed. This means MORE MORE MORE Pathfinder!
IN THE BEST NEWS. Recruit a friend is coming soon, that means that if you want into the Alpha make sure to let me know or ask a friend to recruit you. This will give you access to the Alpha for the rest of its duration! Lets go!
Keep up the good work Goblinworks Inc! You guys are doing me a solid.
10/10 Will play this game.
As many of you know, I have been dealing with some crazy stupid lag lately. But I haven't let that stop me from playing Pathfinder Online for their Alpha!
In this last patch they fixed a few things that I had been talking about, so good job there. But right now the biggest hurdle that I have found is Crowd Forging. People complaining that they aren't having their voices heard by Goblinworks simply due to the fact that they don't know how to get to the Crowd Forging area. Like in my last article, I will include links to my twitter, Goblinworks twitter, and the Crowd Forging website.
In other news, Pathfinder Online still continues to impress me. I have basically fallen in love with Cleric so far and really enjoy the Focus/Shield combo. Mage is still broken, and sadly Rogue is still under powered. But that is the nature of the beast for now in Alpha. I expect that once the game hits beta that a lot of these balancing issues will be smoothed out and taken care of.
Then comes the issue of new classes and races. Goblinworks themselves has said that they took the Crowd Forging stuff serious when they sat down and decided what classes and races will be there for Beta. You had your chance to vote in that and IIRC its too late to go back and do so again. However its not like you are too late to do ANYTHING related to Pathfinder. Silver Spoon proudly presents 'A Path to Pathfinder!'
A sort of new thing to the world of RPG is the idea of having community and player input BEFORE the game goes live or even into Beta.
The reason that Goblinworks is going this route is the same way that Paizo did for Pathfinder the Table-Top RPG. It makes for a better game and for better game play. With that said, Goblinworks has already told us not to expect a 'AAA' game when they first launch Pathfinder Online, but don't be discouraged! As a player of the Alpha I can tell you that this game is already on the right path(SOPHUNNY) to being one of the BEST MMORPG games you have ever seen or played.
One of the reasons that its so good is that they are so entwined with the community and all the guilds/players that were part of their exclusive Land Rush event which in and of itself was a dynamic event that I personally in all my time of playing RPGs and MMOs I have never seen before. If you too want to take part in the Crowd Forging I would like to direct you to a few links. I will be posting an update to my blog every so often with more links to Crowd Forging as well as new Pathfinder News and my ideas on it.
Please note that to vote in most Crowd Forging posts you need to register for IdeaScale. The register button can be found in the top right corner. If you need any help with Pathfinder or with the Crowd Forging aspect please contact me here on the vVv forums or in the Pathfinder Online section and I will be 100% happy to help you in anyway that you can.
