      New Supersonic Series Start Time   10/17/2016

      We would like to thank everyone who participated in our recent survey regarding the start time of our tournaments.  After reviewing responses from the survey sent out to tournament participants we have decided to make changes to the start time of our events to try to better accommodate everyone.  Beginning on Monday, October 24th, all of our tournaments will start an hour earlier - at 8PM Eastern.  This means that registration will close at 7:30 EST, and that check-in starts at 7:30 EST and closes at 7:45 EST.

    BlizzCon Americas Championship Qualifier - Heroes of the Storm

    This weekend marks the next stage in the 2015 Road to BlizzCon Heroes of the Storm World Championship. China already punched in their two tickets to BlizzCon for eStar Gaming and Team YL, it’s now time to focus on the Americas Championship. The 2015 Americas Championship is being held September 19-20 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Teams from all over North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Australia & New Zealand will come together to battle it out in the Nexus for top glory and a trip to BlizzCon.   The group stage of the tournament is different than most group stages out there. According to Reddit User eSportsMatt (Blizzard eSports Coordinator) the group stage can be considered “a double elimination bracket with a twist”. Reddit user TheBrillo made a chart that gives a nice breakdown here:     In Group A, the first matches will consist of Tempo Storm vs Murloc Geniuses and Immunity vs Cloud 9. The winner of each match will move onto the “Winner’s Finals” of Group A and the losers go to the “Elimination Game” with the loser exiting the tournament. The winner of “Winner’s Finals” moves onto one side of the playoff bracket, loser drops to the “Lower Finals” where they will face the winner of the “Elimination Game” with the loser taking their exit. Winner of the “Lower Finals” moves onto the complete other side of the playoff bracket from their group-mate.   The same format takes place in Group B with the first matches taking place after the Group A elimination game. The matchups for Group B are Relics vs COGnitive and Furious Gaming vs Complexity. Saturday ends with both Group A and Group B Winner’s Finals taking place. Sunday begins with both group’s Lower Finals, with the Grand Final taking place the same day. The tournament will be a Best of 3 format throughout with the exception of the Grand Finals which will be a Best of 5.   Winner takes home a share of the $100,000 USD prize purse; $40,000 to first place, $24,000 to second place, and 3rd-4th taking home $12,000 each. Along with the prize money the top two teams will get their tickets punched to BlizzCon on November 6-7th. Action starts Saturday, 10am Pacific Time on the official Blizzard Heroes of the Storm Twitch Channel (link).  
     
    Let's meet the teams competing this weekend, starting with Group A.  
    Tempo Storm (North America)
    Dreadnaught - Support (Captain) Arthelon - Carry
    So1dier - Tank Kaeyoh - Carry
    Zuna - Flex  
    Tempo Storm are the unofficial powerhouse of the North America region. They qualified for the HWC Americas Championship back in June with their first place finish but then went on to finish first in the next two opens in July and August as well. As a matter of fact in the last 10 majors/minors Tempo Storm has gone on to place first in 8 of them and only dropped to 2nd place for the ones they didn't place first, pretty impressive stuff. You can thank the "star-studded" roster that Tempo Storm has managed to gather over the course of the young esports' life. Some of you may remember Arthelon as a solo queue monster in League of Legends. Some of the older players might remember him from a time before LCS when he played on teams like Monomaniac Esports and Meat Playground. Although Arthelon's League career did not amount to much, he is not unfamiliar with the idea of professionalism that is needed in an infant esport like Heroes of the Storm.   As for more star-power a lot of people will look at Zuna and ask "Hey, is that the guy from...." yes, it is. Zuna, former AD Carry of team Vulcan and XDG is no stranger either when it comes to esports. Playing on Vulcan, a team who finished 3rd in both the 2013 League of Legends LCS Spring and Summer splits, and later on XDG before the team was ultimately relegated only to never return. Despite this, Zuna showed that he can be a big time player in big time situations. Tempo Storm's victorious run can be credited to him. After Zuna joined the team on May 21st, Tempo Storm began their NA domination.
    It isn’t all about the star power though. Dreadnaught, captain of the team, has shown a top notch Pick/Ban phase in almost all of their matchups. So1dier and Kaeyoh are also extremely talented and this team as a whole seems to be the favorite going into this weekend’s tournament.  
    Cloud 9 (North America)
    DunkTrain – Support (Captain) KingCaffeine – Tank
    iDream – Carry K1pro – Flex
    Fan – Carry  
    Cloud 9 is another North American power that has shown some consistency in their lifetime. Although, usually taking 2nd place while Tempo Storm takes first, they are still a force to be reckoned with. Consisting of the roster formerly known as Cloud 9 Maelstrom, who after qualifying in July, dissolved Cloud 9 Vortex and unified under the singular Cloud 9 banner.   Boasting a roster of Heroes veterans, they are no strangers to the tournament scene as well. After placing first in last year’s BlizzCon exhibition tournament, Cloud 9 had a lot to replace after the departure of Zuna, Jintae, and Kenma. On July 30th, Cloud 9 settled on the roster (shown above) and has shown promise since. After the team changes, Cloud 9 has been a consistent top 3 threat in North America, winning the latest Heroes Major League hosted by ESL.   With this young and promising roster, Cloud 9 is looking to secure one of the two spots for BlizzCon in hopes of accomplishing their championship dreams.  
    Murloc Geniuses (North America)

    MadTiimmy – Support (Captain) Equinox – Flex
    Fury - Tank  
    Formerly of the team Evil Geniuses in the 2014 BlizzCon Heroes of the Storm show match, MG has gone through a lot of changes since April 1st. Coined “The Challengers” by Josh Bury of theScore eSports (http://www.thescoreesports.com/news/2383) the roster was acquired by Zeveron before the June/July/August NA Open events. Before the August Open, Zeveron disbanded and once again took up the name Murloc Geniuses. Although one of the top 5 teams in North America, MG have not had much in the way of success as of late. More or less “backing into” the America Qualifiers as the last NA spot because the teams ahead of them had already placed; first place Tempo Storm, second place Cloud 9, and Complexity finishing 3rd.   Despite the team changes and struggles throughout 2015, MG are looking to have a strong showing and hopefully make it out of Group A.  
    Team Immunity (Australia)
    Shy – Carry (Captain) Robadobah – Tank
    Sashin – Flex Naeiou – Flex
    Enalgon - Support  
    Team Immunity, unifying after their victory in the AU & NZ qualifiers (formerly Immunity White), are the champions of the AU & NZ region and are looking to represent the two Pacific Island nations in Las Vegas. While the team itself is fairly new, and the region itself is substantially weaker than the world as a whole, Team Immunity bring a fairly interesting playstyle to the Storm. Having two preferred Flex players versus the standard two carries that we see from other western teams brings an interesting element to their game. Being able to rotate roles of a Specialist/Carry on two members means Team Immunity can adapt quickly in a Best of 3 scenario.   Can the Aussies make it out of groups and shock North America?   Group B  
    COGnitive Gaming (North America)
    Scylol – Tank Hospital – Carry (Captain)
    Iakona – Support Glaurung – Flex
    iVSlime – Carry  
    COGnitive Gaming (also known as COG) are no strangers to esports as an organization but are definitely new to the Heroes of the Storm scene. Having only acquired a roster in May, formerly known as “Shot and the Bullets: Reloaded”, the squad showed immediate promise finishing no worse than 3rd in their first 2 months together. Unfortunately after the MSI MGA 2015 Americas Qualifier the team has fallen off in terms of performance, finishing no better than 3rd. With the roster moving to San Jose, CA with apartments close by and a practice area in between them, the team has an easier way to build in-person communication which can be huge for any new lineup. The team’s hyper-aggressive style has been a treat to viewers while sometimes being a detriment to the team as well. Despite their shortcomings, the team is looking to be a favorite coming out of Group B due to their style and their practice regiment.   Is this the tournament that COG makes a resurgence and takes a top spot to prove they are among NA’s elite?  
    compLexity (North America)
    Blinks – Support (Captain) Trummel – Carry
    CattlePillar – Tank H0ns – Flex
    Jaximus - Carry  
    compLexity Gaming. Another name that is very well known in the esports scene that jumps on the early HotS bandwagon. compLexity acquired the roster of “Barrel Boys” and saw a lot of success in the ESL weekly tournaments but failed to materialize any meaningful results in any monthly, minor, or major tournaments. After the departure of Erho to Stellar Lotus, the team took to Reddit to search for a replacement. Jaximus contacted the team for a tryout and was immediately a great fit for the squad.   With the addition of Jaximus the coL squad is looking stronger than ever. They are looking to make a big splash at this weekend’s event.  
    Relics (Singapore)
    Revenant – Flex Mirr – Flex
    Trinity – Flex Relyzer – Flex
    Zeys – Support  
    The Southeast Asian qualifier, coming out of Singapore, is Relics. They are a relatively unknown name in the Western scene, pulled off an impressive performance in the SEA Qualifiers by not dropping a single game until the Grand Finals, taking out Philippines Champion Bibingka 2-1. The squad also has a lot of interesting play styles. According to GosuGamers, all players not named Zeys played some combination of a Carry, Specialist, Warrior, or Tank hero in their 6 tournament wins. So what does this mean? Well it means Relics are an unpredictable squad with an obvious amount of talent. Will their wild playstyle result in a spot at BlizzCon?  
    Furious Gaming (Argentina)
    Nittt – Flex Megalomaniac – Tank (Captain)
    Kobu – Support Malheven – Carry
    DEUS – Carry  
    Furious Gaming have a very interesting story on how they got to the Americas Championship. They actually finished 3rd at the Copa America Championships last month, Brave Ozone took the top spot for the Latin America region. Unfortunately, Brave Ozone had visa issues and could not attend. In steps Furious Gaming, known for their Starcraft II clan, to try to grab a spot at BlizzCon.   Unlike North America teams, Furious Gaming love their specialists and will focus on hard pushing and gaining an early lead to stomp out their opponent.   Predictions:   Group A   For me, it’s an easy decision who is going to make it out of group stages in Group A. While Murloc Geniuses and Team Immunity are strong in their own right, I do not think they can hold a candle to Tempo Storm’s impressive Pick/Ban and Cloud 9’s team play.
    Winner’s FInals: Tempo Storm vs Cloud 9
    In the North America July Open Tempo Storm showed to be very strong, beating Cloud 9 2-0. Cloud 9, at the time Cloud 9 Maelstrom, was able to first pick away Zuna’s Zeratul in game 1 but unfortunately the “Double Mage” comp of Tempo Storm was too much to handle. Game 2 saw Cloud 9 ban out Zeratul and Tempo Storm ban out Jaina, but again Tempo Storm was too much to handle. I expect Tempo Storm to be the Group A first seed.
    Elimination Game: Immunity vs Murloc Geniuses
    Despite Immunity’s promise as a squad, MG just have too much experience under their belt to worry much about Immunity. MG moves on 2-1 to the Lower Finals.     Lower Finals: Cloud 9 vs Murloc Geniuses
    The last time these two teams met in tournament play only once before back when MG was known as Zeveron and C9 as C9 Maelstrom. It was a close set in the opening round of the tournament and both teams have shown improvement since then. I give the favorable edge to Cloud 9 in this one based off of player skill alone. Cloud 9 grabs the second seed out of Group A with a 2-1 victory.  
    Group B   This one is a bit closer. COGnititve is an impressive team. They had a lot of time to prepare so I expect them to come out guns blazing in their opening group game versus Relics. Furious Gaming is a bit of an unknown, and for what it’s worth, shouldn’t technically be here anyways. There is also the big question mark about compLexity’s new carry in Jaximus. Will he be able to bring is League of Legends skill into Heroes or is there still a lot of learning to do?
    Winner’s Finals: COGnitive vs compLexity
    These teams have met twice before this tournament, the NA July Open and the NA August Open with both teams winning a game. Expect this to be one of the closest games of the group stage by far as both teams are fairly close in skill level and strategy. coL still has a new lineup at the end of the day and because of this I give COG the win in this very close series 2-1 and matching up against Cloud 9 in the bottom half of the playoff bracket.
    Elimination Game: Relics vs Furious Gaming
    Poor Furious Gaming. I mean, they were able to go to Las Vegas which is awesome. Unfortunately, the best finish they had was 3rd in a relatively weak region. Being that Relics is a bit of a wild card, I expect FG to bow out of the tournament in this game. Relic takes this series 2-0 and moves on to play compLexity in the Lower Finals.
    Lower Finals: Relics vs compLexity
    Relics has the potential to pull an upset here. Being a relatively unknown team they have the element of surprise with their line-up of mostly flex position players. Expect a closer series than the experts think. At the end of the day though, I have to pick coL winning 2-1 and facing Tempo Storm in the upper part of the playoff bracket.  
    Grand Finals  
    Tempo Storm vs Cloud 9  
    Another rematch for these two teams. I mean, it’s hard to pick against consistency and these two teams have it. Tempo Storm consistently finished in first place with Cloud 9 consistently in second place. At this point, it’s almost irrelevant who to pick as a winner here as both teams get to go to BlizzCon on November 6-7th. For the sake of potentially being right and getting to brag (and potentially being wrong and sulking) I will have to go with Tempo Storm 3-1. Cloud 9 will make the first 2 games close, actually taking game 1. However, i think Tempo Storm is just the better team and that will show after their second series of this weekend.

    Worlds 2015: Quarterfinals Fantasy Advice Ready for the knockout rounds? The group stages were filled with plenty of exciting games, favorites and underdogs prevailing, teams from North America letting us all down, and some good fantasy picks and some bad. As in everything in life its impossible to be 100% correct on my picks everytime. I use my analysis, price points, and match ups to determine who to pick and although it doesn't always work out, the process is still correct. If we could all predict what would happen we'd all be rich. I've been getting a lot of good feedback from people and I appreciate it all. Thank you for following and reading these blogs as I enjoy putting the information out there for you to use.       Origen, SKT, EDG, and KTR are the favorites to make the Semi-Finals. That said, SKT are the only overwhelming favorite while it is certainly reasonable to think that the other three match ups can go anyway. The best probable route to go is to stack up on SKT carries (marin, faker/easyhoon, Bang) and look for values in the other roles. Here are my favorite players for the Quarterfinals: SKT is the best bet. Fit Faker, Marin, and Bang in wherever you can. My favorite value players come from FW in the form of Karsa and SwordArt, who has been underpriced all tournament. I have a lack of faith in the midlaners, not because of their skill but because of match ups. There are a ton of really good matchups in the midlane Nagne vs. KurO, Pawn vs. Febiven, xPeke vs. Maple. I think you either pay up for Faker or save and go with Maple, who has been great quietly great this tournament with the most kills and second most assists for any mid laner. I'm staying away from FNC and EDG for the most part. It's interesting because their players are relatively cheap, but I think this will be a really close match up that is hard to predict one way or the other. It could turn into a very objective focused series (as FNATIC does like to do this at times) which would limit fantasy output. Vulcun: Top: Marin (SKT) ($1301)
    Jungle: Karsa (FW) ($1264)
    Mid: Faker/Easyhoon (SKT) ($1625)
    ADC: Bang (SKT) ($1514)
    Sup: SwordArt (FW) ($962)

    Flex Three: Score (KTR) ($1053) You use your three SKT spots allowed on the three carries, while paying up they should be worth every penny. You also get to fit two top lane carries into your lineup with Marin and ssumday. You save by using two supports to pay up for value elsewhere, Karsa has the second most kills and third most assists among junglers and score provides a cheap jungle option even though he leads Worlds in assists from the jungle role. Alphadraft: Top: Marin (SKT) ($8900)
    Jungle: Karsa (FW) ($6500)
    Mid: Faker/Easyhoon (SKT) ($8800)
    ADC: Bang (SKT) ($9100)
    Sup: SwordArt (FW) ($6400)

    Team: Flash Wolves ($3000) Again you use the three SKT carries. The rest of the lineup is quite cheap among FW players. I talked about SwordArt and Karsa above, but Hojin provides good value as his agressive style has him first in KDA among junglers at 8.4. Cheap team as always in FW, who could easily win their Best of Five against Origen. Draftkings: Top: Marin (SKT) ($7700)
    Jungle: Karsa (FW) ($5100)
    Mid: Maple (FW) ($6300)
    ADC: Bang (SKT) ($8700)
    Sup: SwordArt (FW) ($4900)

    Team: FNATIC ($3900) This time you only get two SKT carries. Let's talk about that for a second. Draftkings does not combine Faker and Easyhoon into one pick, they're separated. Because of this, it's extremely risky to pick one or the other unless you are 100% sure that they are playing. If SKT vs ahq was the first match up of the week it'd be easier to get a handle on who was playing for SKT, but your lineup will lock after day one and if you stick Faker in while easyhoon is playing (or vice versa) you'll be paying the highest mid lane salary for no points. I'm going with Maple here instead and saving money. The savings go straight into ssumday to replace Faker's carry spot. With the leftover money I'm using FNATIC who are in a close matchup, but usually play objective focus in big games and that's where your team points come from.   Good luck and enjoy the Quarterfinals!

    Hey guys and gals, its eFxGamer but now known as vVvDream!

    Very excited to tell you all that I have been accepted into vVv through the work and content I have put into this blog. This is going to just be a quick update post for anyone interested on how often I will put out my blog posts as well as when they will be coming out.

    Right now, I am super busy with school and I have hardly any time to play SC2 as well as I am in Grade 11 now, and also in the International Baccalaureate program. The homework keeps me until at least 12 every night which makes it hard for me to even try to fit in games of Starcraft T.T

    So for now, I have decided that I will be releasing a new blog post every 3 weeks starting in October, which will help me have a solid schedule in releasing them.

    Thanks for all the support that vVv has shown me and I hope that we will do great things in SC2!

I want to ask if you've ever thought about a way to quantify a reduced time in a flip turn vs. an open turn, taking into account where the turn started given a set point in the pool. How long did it really take you to get back to that set point in the pool, and how much energy did you use doing it?

    Several other factors would come into play even if this was set up in a controlled environment: How fast the swimmer was going, did they start their turn at the exact same point on both runs, how many breaths were taken getting to the turn, how much inertia was carried from the push off of the wall getting back to the set point, etc., but for the sake of preventing cataclysmic frustration and unrealistic expectations for an experiment, we'll assume these as environmental constants if we were to recreate it.

    The reason I'm asking these questions runs back to social acceptance in relation to techniques used in competitive sports, and the amount of peer pressure that can come with it. I highly doubt any high school swim coach set up a high speed camera to accurately benchmark when a swimmer passed a given point in the pool, and how long it took them to reach that same point upon turning, nor would they even have thought to, as it would've conflicted with their already solidified schema of how "real" swimming should look.

    Here are some of the common "arguments" for open vs. flip turns that don't even bother taking a numerical standpoint on the issue:

    - But you look ridonkulous doing open turns - I don't care, I'm not here to look cool, this isn't a popularity contest, and I'm not in high-school. I am here to be the fastest swimmer I can be.

    - But you don't streamline properly - You can learn to streamline in an open turn or a flip turn.

    - But it helps you control your breath - So don't breath when taking an open turn.

    - You can't grab a wall in the open water and take an extra breath - Last I checked you don't flip in open water and push off a wall either.

    Something I want to point out, "it adds yards" is a really silly standpoint to take if there is a possibility that open turning may be a faster way to get your feet to and off the wall. I will never take linear one-issue-covering counter arguments on variable heavy subjects seriously. "Longer distance swam" means nothing to me if someone can cover that distance in a shorter amount of time by doing something that is "against the grain". In the spirit of the internet, "pics or it didn't happen". If flip turns are quantifiably faster than open turns, then please show me.

    I could probably talk about this for days, but I'll stop myself here and leave you with some space to ponder. Someone think me up a punch line for swim blogs!

    Being one of the lesser played professions many people don't know what the Mesmer profession is about or capable of. Many people think we are a kind of bursty power based caster profession though I find out burst to be inconsistant and easily avoided. To me we are a more controlling and supportive profession that can dominate the enemy with a lot of conditions, condition removal, boons, and tricks.

    Pros

    • Able to throw out lots of conditions/boons
    • Very survivable if played properly
    • Can have decent mobility with the Blink utility skill
    • Lots of skills to help your team survive
    • Very good 1v1
    • Moa elite is OP
    • Lots of CC
    • Can switch to focus between fights for swiftness buff

    Cons

    • Inconsistant and easy to avoid burst with shatter
    • Staff can't shoot up ledges
    • Scepter is mostly uselss at the moment (they will be fixing this)
    • Most conditions and boons are random and you will not always get the one you want

    The staff is an obvious choice for one of your weapons as it brings so much control and utility to your team.

    • Bounce an orb of energy between enemies and allies that applies random boons to allies and random conditions to enemies.

    Basically this skill bounces off of the initial target if something is near enough 2-3 times depending on traits. This includes allies so melee have good synergy with this as it will jump to them very easily. Although inconsistant putting up conditions and boons will never be a bad thing.

    • 10 second cooldown
    • Teleport away from your target, summoning a clone that casts Winds of Chaos.

    Phase retreat allows you to kite most melee professions while giving you more Winds of Chaos procs. More winds of chaos means more condition/boon output. As a note this will only bounce 2 times regardless of traits.

    • 18 second cooldown
    • Summon an illusion that deals extra damage for each unique condition on the target foe.

    With your first two skills conditions can stack up fairly quickly allowing your clone to do decent damage.

    • Gives yourself chaos armor. Giving you random boons and your foe random conditions whenever you are struck.

    Great synergy with the rest of the staff kit.

    • Create a magical storm at the target location that applies random conditions to enemies and random boons to allies.

    This is one of the best supportive skills in the game. It will usually force an enemy to run off of a point or spread out during a fight giving you an advantage. If you have ranged people on your team they can easily stand in it getting a lot stronger from all

    the boons.

    Personally I am not a fan of the greatsword or focus because sword/pistol gives you so much control and survivability.

    This is where some of your offensive utitlity comes in. Removing boons while lowering their defense with vulnerability can really screw somebody over.

    The perfect skill to survive any burst build. Can't tell you how many times I used this on a 100 blades warrior over the last BWE. Also provides as a decent damage spell.

    This is obviously a good skill for catching up to someone since you can swap right after your clone leaps to them. What most people don't realize is the defensive capability of this. If you are trying to run away from someone. If you use this on someone wait a few seconds and swap you can easily juke someone out if they aren't paying attention.

    • Create an illusion that unloads its pistols on your foe.

    Decent damage not much else to say about it really.

    • Hit up to three foes with a single shot. The first target is stunned, the second is dazed, and the third is blinded.

    • Note: Illusionary Elasticity (trait) - Bouncing attacks have one additional bounce. Adds a 4th target that is confused.

    Another 2 second stun with the bonus of other conditions on more targets.

    These are the weapons I would use on pretty much every build currently. You just get so much survivability and utility there is no real reason to take anything else. Some people prefer the torch for it's invisibility skill. Why would you pass up a 2 second CC for that though? Any thoughts or ideas feel free to post.     It has come to my attention that the Thief needs some serious loving. As a potential remedy to this, a few cohorts of mine sat down and punched out some preliminary findings in terms of class deficiency, and it seemed like an appropriate topic for the blog. While reading this, I would like you to cross reference what was written with what class you play, and ask yourself if there is any room for improvement in the imbalance department. ANet can't fix the problem if they don't know what's wrong. I hope you enjoyed the tournament play i posted, and I also hope you take something useful away from this redesign.

    Condition Removal

    Currently the only source of condition removal and real stealth Thieves have is Hide in Shadows. The problem is that this skill does not remove crowd control effects. Other classes have condition removal such as 10 second automatic removal passives for rangers, debuff removal for Mesmers, multiple condition removal skills including “Shake it Off” as well as a heal/condition removal for Warriors, Guardians have even more, Engineers have elixirs, Necromancers have group condition removal that isn’t their designated heal (which also removes conditions), and Elementalists have many.

    Thieves are strictly limited to using Hide in Shadows for condition removal. I’ll give you the average combat scenario with Hide in Shadows:

    1.) Conditions put on you via on hit effects, someone uses one of many immobilize effects

    2.) You enter stealth, heal goes up, conditions off

    3.) You’re still immobilized, and they know that, so they keep attacking you, applying more conditions and negating most of the benefits of your heal. It might as well not be a stealth

    Because of this, most Thieves have defaulted to Withdrawal for the evade and heal on a 50% lower cool down, effectively making stealth and condition removal nonexistent. I’m aware that Shadow Refuge is technically a stealth, but the skill is extremely under powered as a whole, and I will touch on that later in the article.

    Traps

    1.) Currently, traps have little to no use in PvP. The trap mechanic in the context of Guild Wars 2, forces you to use them in a defensive way. If you use a trap offensively and it misses, you’re already down one cooldown before the fight starts. Traps need to be replaced with skills that have an active impact on fast engagements, as professions in Guild Wars 2 are much more mobile than they were in Guild Wars.

    2.) Am I saying defensive cooldowns are useless? No, they’re absolutely necessary. Am I saying traps are marginally less effective than they were in Guild Wars 1? Yes. There was a basic and undeniable boost in mobility from GW1 to GW2. There are separate levels of elevation and various routes of access to all of the maps that are currently in place/being tested, and traps are wasted cooldowns entirely.

    Proposed Changes in Class Mechanics

    F1: Crack Armor: Apply several stacks of vulnerability to the target, applies 10 seconds of protection to self. This helps with our survivability, and enables us to weaken a single target, making them more vulnerable to our attacks. Which is what the thief is all about.

    F2: Steal Weapon: Daze the target for 2 seconds. Applies Might or Fury to self and grants a class specific item just like current

    steal. This allows us a control option, as well as the random item. Only usable in melee range.

    F3: Shadow Recluse: Enter stealth for 10 seconds when not in combat, 3 when in combat. This would grant the element of surprise when out of combat, but ensure that it isn't too powerful during combat. Allows for adequate positioning and proficient gap closing without the target just waiting for you to Shadowstep to put you in the ground.

    F4: Shadowstep: Teleport to Target. Shadowstep would be removed from steal, and would be its own class mechanic, allowing room for a decision making process before, during, and after the Shadowstep itself.

    Flaws and Proposed Skill Fixes Pertaining to Mechanic Changes

    Shadow Refuge

    - Shadow refuge heals for effectively nothing, (200 or so per second in the AoE)

    - Gives enemies a small designated area to AoE

    - Doesn’t break channeled spells once you enter it

    - If it’s used offensively, everyone takes a few steps back and wait a few seconds for it to go away. (That’s being generous; they would really just run past you.) The skill is

    Suggestion: Provide a signet that grants some form of condition removal, as well as adding condition removal to withdrawal and/or immobilize removal on Hide in Shadows. The reason I’m suggesting adding both, is because there is not a single class, Thieves aside, that do not have a condition removal spell outside of their heal.

    Withdraw:

    Cool down: 15 —> 20 Seconds

    My only suggestion for Withdraw will remain adding bleed/burn removal. If it’s added, consider bumping the cooldown up to 20 seconds.

    Hide in Shadows:

    Cooldown: Same = 30 Seconds

    Add Immobilization removal.

    Utility Skill Changes

    Shadow Refuge:

    Cooldown: From 60 —> 50 Seconds

    Upon entering Shadow Refuge, become stealthed. Shadow Refuge will pulse 5 times, once every 1.5 seconds. Every other pulse will remove a condition and heal for 200, starting with the SECOND pulse. Upon leaving Shadow Refuge, remain stealthed for 5 seconds, but receive no pulse benefits.

    Explanation: Giving people a reason to stay AND a reason to leave, presents decision, not choice. Thought provoking and mechanically sound is what we’re aiming for. “If I stay, I’m fairly safe. If I leave, I might be able to do enough damage to kill him.”

    Tripwire:

    Cooldown: Same 30 Seconds

    You throw a wire around your opponent’s legs, tripping them to the ground for 2 seconds. Upon standing, the enemy gains swiftness for 3 seconds.

    Explanation: One thing Guild Wars 1 did better than any other MMO, was give good skills drawbacks to make you think. ANet is a smart company, and is in the business of presenting decisions. Introduce a little complexity, in contrast with the current F1 Doubletap meta.

    Ambush:

    Cooldown: From 45—> 120 Seconds

    Calls in a fellow Thief on top of your target, causing you to Shadow Step back 15 feet.

    Explanation: Sticking with the “traps are not for GW2” theme, these are some suggestions with what I feel to be appropriate balance, having played the Thief extensively through all of the prior Beta Weekends, Stress Tests, and now Alpha.

    Shadow Trap:

    Cooldown: From 30—> 40 Seconds

    Throws a blinding dust cloud on top of your enemy, teleporting you to the other side of the cloud, and blinding your enemy for 3 seconds, causing you to stealth.

    Explanation: Traps are wasted skills, and creating relevant abilities from the ashes will introduce new interactions, some foreseen, some not. Decisions become present here.

    Needle Trap Replacement Suggestion: Signet of Death:

    Cooldown: 125 Seconds

    Passive: Removes a condition every 10 seconds, starting when the caster has a 2nd condition placed on him/her.

    Active: Resets all class mechanic abilites F1-F4. Signet of Death's passive is inactive during cooldown.

    Explanation: This gives Thieves passive condition removal, but gives us the option to sacrifice it for a long period of time if we want our class mechanics back faster. It prompts the decision of control, or survivability, and if you take control, you lose your survivability for a lengthy period of time.

    Build of the Week! (Elementalist) : "Jack of all Trades"

    20 Fire Magic

    • 20% chance to cause burning when attacked with melee
    • Deal 10% more damage when attuned to fire
    • Damage at your location when attuning to fire
    • All your fire weapon skills recharge 20% faster

    20 Air Magic

    • Move 10% faster while attuned to air
    • Move faster the longer you are attuned to air
    • Strike your target with a bolt of lightning when attuning to air
    • Deal 10% more damage while attuned to air

    10 Earth Magic

    • Gain extra armor while attuned to earth
    • Deal 5% more when within melee range of your target

    10 Water Magic

    • Regenerate health while attuned to water
    • Remove a condition from yourself and your allies when you attune to water

    10 Arcane Magic

    • Attunement bonuses linger for 5 seconds
    • Elemental Attunement

    Do not rely on condition builds to carry your team to victory. They will be fixed, and the "spammy" feeling of conditions will transitively be gone. Leave any comments, questions or concerns in the comment section below, as I would love to ascertain some perspective from outside sources on class balance. That's about it for this beta weekend.   6. The Art of Starcraft

    Quite literally, the art of the game. While playing Starcraft, the fast paced and high action nature of the game tends to not give the player the chance to look at the real details of the game. Very recently, I gave a friend a lesson on how to play the game, and pitted him against a devastatingly difficult “Easy Computer” opponent. (even though he lost the game, he still played well). During the grueling session of trying to get him to move his units, I began to really look at the environment of the game, and what I found was beautiful.

    Unlike most types of games, being able to see and take in the look of the game is something that is not greatly enforced in RTS style games. In RPG’s, you have all the time in the world to take in your environment. Be it while you stare at your armor to make sure it looks awesome, grinding for that one weapon you really want, or taking a stroll from one city to another. In FPS games, even though there’s a lot of action that takes place at all times, there are still a few times that you can stop and smell the roses. Fighters, the graphics just keep getting better and better, scenery becomes interactive, and sometimes the background and foreground get motion (like a character bouncing off the screen in “Super Smash Bros: Brawl”).

    The graphics of games are ever improving. Every sequel, every new release, every new engine, all of them have promises of better looking games. Often times, good graphics are taken as a raised bar, and that everything with inferior graphics are inferior games. The graphics of Starcraft 2 are no exception. When all graphics settings on the game are maxed out, the game is beautiful. Antiga Shipyard looks like a place where you would go to work in industry. Ohana LE and Tal’darim Alter look like places I’d like to go on vacation sometime. Shakuras Plateau looks like the kind of place to take a date out. The maps in the game are pretty, to say the least. And in a few maps, you can even find little special details, like a holographic zergling, or the advertisements on Metalopolis. Whenever I see one, I get that “hey, that’s pretty cool” feeling.

    Then there’s the units and animation and the scenery. All the detail put into the units is incredible. If you look closely at the Terran Marine, it looks like a spaceman with a gun. It really does. And that’s what it’s supposed to look like, and it looks good. I really don’t know what unit in particular to write about, as the detail put in from the zergling to the Mothership is immense. If you look closely at all the Zerg units, you’ll probably see something you didn’t notice before in all the minute details. The only problem I see with the art of the units is that they are all the same (except Dark Templar). I think it would be pretty cool if there were small little differences in each of the units, like having a random selection of maybe seven or eight different skins for the units. But maybe that’s just me.

    The other part of the artwork that impressed me was the animations. The fighting, the dying, the construction, the movement, and the environment. The fights are always intense. Fights can go from miniscule skirmishes, to epic battles, on this, I’m sure we can all agree. And they always look good. They can be colorful, explosive, with different animations, spells, and no two battles look the same. One of my personnel favorites is when a hellion roasts a line of zerglings. There’s always something really satisfying about that. But there’s all sorts of different animations that get incorporated with fights. A vortex swallowing up a ball of units, then getting demolished by a group of Archons. A couple zealots or DT’s slicing and dicing some marines. All of these little details really make the game what it is visually. And I love it.

    But for a lot of gamers, graphics aren’t important at all. For others, it’s the most important thing. For me, I’ll take a good game over good graphics. I’ll still go back and play Brood War, simply because it’s a really good game, and can be crazy difficult. I might even go back to play Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, because it’s so hard. I’ll still take Cod 4: Modern Warfare over Black Ops, because the gameplay is much better for me (and because the LMG’s are OP). Some gamers love their graphics though, and will buy the prettiest new racing game, or the RPG with the coolest look, even if the gameplay isn’t the greatest.

    With the upcoming release of HotS, I’m eagerly awaiting not only gameplay and the possibility of a new pro scene, but also the visual effects that will be incorporated into the game. New skins, new animations, new units, new skills and spells. I’m really looking forward to it.

    Winning and Learning at MLG Anaheim

    Over and over again, vVv has pulled the jaws of the gaming community to the floor with outstanding accomplishments across multiple titles and platforms. With the coming and going of this past weekend's MLG event in Anaheim California, this idea was tested against the storm of competition brought to the west coast. In the end, MLG Anaheim was no exception, adding another 10,000$ to our total winnings, and racking up three more top 4 finishes in SCV, KoF, and MK9.

    While CDjr's confidence in his MK9 main character Jax was apparent heading into the event, his post fight interview reveals his regret for having such a level of assurance at an event with an equally high concentration of top talent. CDjr took 4th place losing to Perfect Legend in the Losers semifinals in an amazing 7 game series, and he has stated the mistake will not be made twice. He plans to come back swinging with twice as much preparation time under his belt at his next major event, EVO. Reo unfortunately did not break top 8, and subsequently announced his retirement from professional gaming. Our goodbyes go out to a truly talented player and best wishes to his future endeavors.

    RTD matched CDjr's 4th place finish in the SCV bracket, falling to Lost Providence in a nail biting series that left the entire crowd and stream audience gasping for air. Lost Providence's Viola play being top notch combined with RTD's preference to a turtle style Mitsurugi, caused the MLG arena to divide by zero and implode in such an epic match up. RTD's explanation and thoughts on the match can be found in the video below, and he will also be attending EVO with CDjr.

    Romance told a similar story to CDjr's in his Losers Bracket Finals loss coming down to an absolutely epic game 5 against Reynald, which resulted in Romace taking home 3rd place in KoF and bringing home a nice chunk of change. Even after the game was over and the closest match of the day lost, the crowd continued to chant for Romance.

    On the League of Legends front, vVv's fledgling team fell early in the competition to fatal errors in equipment and inexperience shortly after their comeback against MRA. They will be back in the near future with team changes at their next big event, Lancouver 2012, which they took 1st place in before MLG Anaheim. Having such a young team will be a challenge for all parties involved, but rest assured they will take big risks, make big plays, and reach for great rewards.

    Last but not least in the form of Starcraft 2 WCS news, RuFF made top 24 in the all american tournament, with Glon managing to make it to LBR5 in MLG before dropping to SlayersChoya. All other players were knocked out earlier in the competition. Let's give a round of applause to our digital commanders and we hope to see the intensity turned up in the next event.

    In the scheme of things, this was a solid finish for vVv's fighters, but more importantly a learning experience for the community as a whole. Anaheim allowed our League of Legends team to lose their greenhorn status, shaking off their first major LAN jitters, and it humbled our fighters to the point of extreme focus, while still raking in a solid 10k$ prize pool. EVO better be ready, and we must as well. Good luck to our fighters, and let us look towards the future with a new sense of perspective in both competitive gaming and life.

So I said I there would be an Announcement about Evolution on Tuesday and I delayed it until today until I was positive of a few things that will be stated later in this Announcement/Blog... So first I would like to say is my name is Michael White, also known as vVv Shadow. I am the Leader/Founder of Evolution The way this Blog will be setup will be in a series of Categories with it all ending with Important Items.

    Since May we have declined on our YouTube Production but still have been playing but not Team Scrimming due to everyone's schedule. RaGe had just got a job, I was about to Graduate, ODERollisonO and Wuts Sharing was fixing to end the school year, and Frost was swamped with Work, College, and his Girlfriend. We had a Recent Local Tournament on June 9th that we placed 2nd in. The problem with this Tournament was that we knew we had to find 1 person because we had dropped Deadly Force11 and ll REQUIEM ll (I will explain later). But a curve ball was thrown at us last minute on the Sunday before the Tournament, Frost gave us a call and said he could not come to the Tournament so we had to find 2. I scouted for 2 players and we played well, our roster looked good going into the Tournament. I got a message over Xbox Live less than 13 hours from the Tournament that one of the guys could not go. So me and Wuts Sharing used Knuckleball25 (A recent applicant and friend of mine) in the Tournament. We had 2 hours to prepare him for the Tournament. We lost against the team that I was worried about from the beginning. While we were looking for people for the Local Tournament one of the tryouts got into an argument with Wuts Sharing which made Wuts Sharing quit Evolution. We instantly recruited vVv MiisFit as he was a Decent Slayer and have always been one of Evolution's Followers. We also accepted Coaching from Coach EVAZIV3, one of the best if not the best Call of Duty Coaches. Since Wuts Sharing quitting the team we revamped the way Evolution was, we dropped ODERollisonO and looked for someone else, I then went on Vacation but I found someone prior hand to run with. So vVv RaGe and vVv MiisFit ran with Britzel LK (A vVv Applicant now). During that time we also found Chubs sF. The four of them ran together and won Matches and barely lost if they did lose. The new Roster was looking a lot better than the old one already. And thats where it puts us at today....

    When it comes to games and it's place in E-Sports, or even just the gaming world in general, many will always look towards the community itself as a way of looking at how lucrative the game could be. We've seen many times in the E-Sports world where players will bring up major controversy where it could hurt a team and make it's sponsors look terrible.

    Want an example; see the Orb incident in the Starcraft 2 world.

    For those that do not know the entire story, the commentator/player Orb was hired by the gaming team Evil Geniuses to do commentatory for the team as well as live in their team gaming house, The Lair. Accusations, along with evidence backing the story up, surfaced showing Orb using racial slurs against players on the ladder, accusations that Orb denied. Mounting evidence once again showed Orb not only did in fact use the slurs, but had lied to not only the community but his new team as well about the incidents. Team EG did the right thing and the only thing they could do, fired Orb.

    Of course, he's not the only player as popular streamer Destiny has enough evidence against him, and has openly admitted to usage of racial and various other slurs on various podcasts, that it makes you wonder how he has a team currently. The answer to that is simple, but for those that follow the SC2 scene, knows that Destiny has gone through 2 teams before the reforming of ROOT Gaming, including, what we've been told was a mutual split between Destiny and Quantic Gaming.

    Most recently, a fan held up a sign at MLG Anaheim with the word "F*****" on it. The sign was confisicated and the fan was scorned for his decision.

    And the community wonders why it gets a bad rap.

    It's stuff like this that could make things hard to sell to sponsors. That is the type of language you don't need in any esport title, whether it's League of Legends, Starcraft 2, MK9 or even in the FPS genres, and we all know how bad things can get over there.

    This article though, is aimed at the community I'm mostly affiliated with, and that's the League of Legends community. A community that has gotten it's fair share of ridicule, like any community has. For the sake of argument, let's do a comparison shall we to another MOBA game, Heroes of Newarth.

    HoN, while a great game, very much made in the way of DoTA, a game most MOBA players started on, has been long considered to have one of the worst community of gamers when it comes to, well, most games. But why does any of this matter?

    Easy my young apprentice, it matters for the sake of the game.

    A game like League of Legends relies on it's players to continue the major growth it has experienced. Losing those players due to ignorant players that can't control their racist comments, derogity terms and their abbrasive attitudes, drives players away, we've see it before, but not only that, it could hurt sponsorships.

    Curse player Elementz not too long ago, last week to be exact, wrote a blog last week asking the community to clean up it's act, which you can read here; http://www.reignofga...lean-up-our-act, and I must say, I agree with him. We've seen plenty of players, myself included in this, go out of their way to be an jerk to random players in this game.

    The real question is; Is it needed?

    We've seen far too many trolls in Ranked games, where most of us go to have some competive fun, to try our hardest and win. Many times we've had those players call us out from the word go for that tiny mistake that cause first blood to the opponents, apparently meaning all is lost. There is no need for racism, there is not need for trolling and we should be looking to clean up our act.

    I am happy to announce that The #vVvCommunity Episode 1 - will go live Thursday June 14!

    I give thanks to everyone that has been following my little updates on the show, Its now in crunch time, the main thing right now is money! But as long as people are interested, then i'll be putting money into this show. I'm looking forward to all your feedback when the show starts, and will be happy to change things up from episode to episode.

    First off, you're probably wondering why this is #11 not the first. Well, there's ten other articles located HERE.

    Unlike the normal articles, this entry is specifically about my interactions with vVv so far. Let me tell you, I've only been here a short while, but in the time I've spent with vVv I've come pretty far. As it stands I'm a senior officer for our Guild Wars 2 team, as well as the Editor in Chief of the entire website. But you'd know that if you read pretty much any of my profiles on the internet, my tumblr, or my twitter.

    I first found vVv Gaming on the MMO-Champion guild recruitment forums, and after a very short time going through the forums and reading what vVv was about, I knew this was the place for me. The diversity, values and guidelines that vVv exists by make it unique in both the world of E-sports and non-competitive gaming. They're a place for everyone who wants to be there, and anyone who makes the effort to join.

    After initially posting my application to the Guild Wars 2 officer ranks, I had a chat with former MMO Manager vVv Voison and began doing writing tasks for the organization, shortly after I began getting assignments from LordJerith, the president and CEO. A few days later I posted my Editor in Chief application, and within two weeks, was ranked as Staff and wearing my new title. I couldn't be more proud of what I've accomplished here in such a short time. But that's not the only thing I do..

    Did you know that, along with a WONDERFUL team of people, I also manage the Guild Wars 2 division? I know I said I was a senior officer, but did you know I was running the whole show as it is? Currently it's not as much work as it will be. As I said I have a wonderful team of members and applicants who make great contributions, put in a ton of effort, and generally make my life easy... For now. By no means am I saying that what I currently do is easy, it's not. There's a lot of work to be done, but not as much as there will be when Guild Wars 2 releases! But don't worry, not only will I take it on with the same vigour and dedication that I've done with everything else so far, I'm actually looking forward to it.

    All that said, the nature of Gamer Culture going forward is going to change. Before it was just opinions on certain topics I felt passionate about. Going forward, it's going to be a mix of everything it was before, and anything else I think you might enjoy reading.

    So with that said, I'm going to cut it short here by saying, welcome to the new Gamer Culture. I hope you've all enjoyed my introductory post, and I look forward to lots more time with vVv!

    How little Tim became a Nintendo fan

    Ten years ago the GameCube was released in Holland and a few months later during my 10th birthday I was happily surprised with this beautiful console.

    Together with this present I got two games. I ripped off the paper of the rectangular gift on top and saw a case with a dinosaur and a car on it.

    "awesome", I screamed out loud when I saw the case, "shit", is what I thought when I played the game for 15 minutes.

    I'm talking about Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure, one of the launchgames of the GameCube aswell as one of the worst games ever to be released on this platform.

    It was my first experience with a launchgame and for the most part it ruined the excitement of getting the GameCube.

    I could hear the stories in 4th grade from my friends playing Tekken and Ridge Racer, beautiful games that made little boys feel like real men.

    There I was with a game that graphically looked like it jumped straight out of the Nintendo-64 ages.

    Kemco was the developer of that game, a company that excels at making saltless games since 1985.

    They had this crazy idea to develop an interactive themepark where you can walk around as a nameless child and enter all the different rides.

    Those rides have well known Universal-films themes, like Jurassic Park, E.T. and Waterworld, and within each attraction is a minigame or something that is supposed to be a minigame.

    Even though I just turned 11 years old I knew I was playing a bad game, because the minigames were boring and you could only play like 5 of them.

    The waterworld ride was just a short movie (a ridiculously bad movie by the way).

    My mom really had to endure during my gaming session. Not too bad, for I was not a spoiled child. And okay, I didn't exactly use the word "shit" because I wasn't allowed to say that.

    It was just a scream of criticism that happened to be heard by the person closest to me.

    I didn't master words like 'context', 'perception' and 'abominable' yet and couldn't express myself in the civilized and intelligent way that I like to believe I can nowadays.

    I asked myself outloud how it was possible that such a game was released on the market and I still ask myself that question sometimes when I look back at the launchgames of the Nintendo 3DS for example.

    But then...

    It turned out to be a beautiful birthday anyways, because the second gift I received on my birthday was Super Smash Bros. Melee.

    For me personally it was one of the best games ever released on the GameCube and the game I used to convince my friends to beg their mom for a GameCube.

    That game was a boys dream where not only could I fight with the Pokémon I had glittery cards of, but also with my hero Fox.

    I tried the first Super Smash on the Nintendo 64, but this game was bigger, better and more fun.

    As a kid I enjoyed the dynamic and varied fights and later this game would be famous for its immersion and great balance in gameplay.

    Super Smash Bros. Melee was more than just a very good game though, for me it was the starting point of a love for Nintendo.

    As a todler I had a SNES, but at that age you don't really know what you're playing.

    Super Smash made me realise though that I had played some historical games as a todler. The game handled its iconic characters and background really well.

    As an 11 year old it made me excited about other exclusive titles of Nintendo.

    Not much later my mom traded Universal Studios (thank god) for Luigi's Mansion and I got to enjoy The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Metroid Prime which conquered my heart.

    Now ten years later I'm a gamer applying to vVv and I wish my mom back then would have listened to the almost 20 year old-Tim of now. That would have saved me atleast one heart attack.

    Buying Super Smash Bros. Melee on the other hand, has had a magical and historical impact on my perception of Nintendo.

    It makes me realise how important it is that Nintendo gets rid of all those horrible launchgames and needs games like Super Smash Bros. A game that teaches kids to love Nintendo.

  10. The NYC $400,000 FIFA Challenge Series took place this last Saturday, April 28. It was a packed house that day with 3 tournament games taking place. The 3 games were Madden 12, NHL 12, and FIFA 12. The prize pool of all combined games was $1 Million dollars. There was a $400,000 prize pool for FIFA, and winning just one game guaranteed you $800. 1st place won $167,000, 2nd place $40,000, and 3rd and 4th place getting $10,000. The rest of the money was spreaded out accordingly to the top 128 players out of 256 total participants in the FIFA event. The winner of the event was Adam Winster from England, defeating Bryan Moeyaert from Belgium.

    My thoughts about the tournament are as follows:

    1. Let's start off with the pros for the event: Firstly. the tournament was virbrant throughout the whole day, and was nothing short of entertaining. Music lasted throughout the whole tourney from start too finish with a live appearance from Jadakiss at the end of the event having a real energetic and entertaining atmosphere throughout. Also, there were free NOS energy drinks being handed out during the event. The place was huge, but not huge enough for 3 tournaments, but nonetheless, a very nice place. Lastly as I've said before the entertainment was very good and the host did a good job of interacting the players and the crowd on stage.

    2. On to the cons: First off, It was supposed to be a single elimination event, but after the first round they offered a raffle to get most of the first round losers back into the tournament, I thought that was a major flaw and downside to this event. Also each game every round had a wait time of 3 hours per round, which caused fatigue and rustiness in between games and it was very hard to keep a distinct rhythm throughout. But this was because of the 3 tournaments being all played on one day, which leads me to another complaint of the event. There wasnt much room on each floor in the building and was very overcrowded with people and at times it was hard to walk, once again because of having 3 tournaments being played at the same time, and in the future I think they should 1 tournament per day to fix this issue along with the enormous wait time between games. I also think the tournament was held for too long (8am-11pm) and as I have said before split the tournaments into one day each instead of cramming it all into one day. Lastly, I thought the tournament was a little disorganized, but once again, it was because of the amount of people and it being their first annual Challenge Series, I don't want want to knock them too hard for it.

    My performance at the event could have been better. I expected to win the event, but whoever has played FIFA, know that sometimes it just doesn't go your way. Nonetheless I finished top 32 out of 256 and came a couple rounds short of the big time final.

    All in all, I enjoyed the event and the entertaining atmosphere. Although it had some flaws, you can't really fault them since it is their first run with the Challenge Series. I hope I can better represent vVv next time by winning the whole event, and I will do my best to achieve that and make you guys proud. Lastly, I want to thank Virgingaming for the oppurtunity to compete and am looking forward to competing again next year..

    Screw the video blog; this is easier to do. I hope people are planning on reading an essay. XD Now, one thing I noticed in your blog when you began was how Sonic Generations shows the game in deep decline as you play through. Your points made sense, but then you go on to say the Sonic Unleashed stage showed a small improvement from there and that the Sonic Colors stage was surprisingly good. It sounds a bit contradicting to be honest, since that shows the series going on an incline, but I’m probably over analyzing here.

    I agree with your points completely on why you think Sonic Adventure 2 is the best game. Though I was never a fan of Shadow as a character, how the story portrayed him and his eventual death at the end of the game was surprisingly well done for a Sonic game. This however, isn’t enough to give it credit as the “Best” Sonic game. Even though the graphics were very good for the time, and the music is unbelievable good (Thank Crush 40 for that), the controls were inconsistent at best, and the gameplay was very erratic.

    Sonic and Shadow were great. The stages were fast paced and varied. Getting things like the light speed dash let you get to secret areas in earlier stages was pretty cool, but I don’t think anyone liked Knuckles’ and Rouge’s treasure hunting stages. Seriously, did ANYONE like the treasure hunting stages? The Tails and Eggman stages were…okay I guess? I mean they were just run through, hold down the shooting button and blow shit up. Very simplistic, but forgettable.

    I also can’t leave out the Chao section. I know a lot of people who spent hours upon hours on these things, including myself. They had surprisingly detailed mechanics in their growth. You can tell SEGA spent a lot of time on this part of the game. It was very fun and addicting, so what more could you ask for?

    As you might guess, I don’t find Sonic Adventure 2 to be the best game. I do have to say it was where the series hit its peak. Sonic Heroes definitely didn’t sell very well compared to Sonic Adventure 2, and we all know what game came after that. (Hint: Sonic 2006) That was definitely a rough road for a few years. And those few years stained the series forever, in my opinion. No matter what SEGA brings from this franchise, it will always have people denying any chance of the games being any good, just because of a few bad consecutive releases. Sonic Unleashed sadly gets the biggest rep, being the predecessor to Sonic 2006, but I’ve already got my rant on that on my youtube channel.

    So, my favorite Sonic game? It’s really hard to pick one, solely because I have a soft spot for two types of Sonic games, the classic 2D style and the modern 3D gameplay. That means Generations would be the perfect fit right? Not exactly, since I don’t particularly like the way classic Sonic plays in that game. To be honest, Sonic Generations showed me how obsolete the classic gameplay really is nowadays. Classic Sonic felt very slow, had no height on his jump, and a few stages (like City Escape) were very linear in design. Putting it side by side by the Hedgehog Engine run modern Sonic really shows the difference in speed and style.

    My favorite classic game is Sonic the Hedgehog 2. With the inclusion the spin dash, it made the game much faster than the first game, and the level design was all over the place. Mystic Cave Zone was always my favorite stage of the series. It also has one of the toughest boss fights I’ve ever seen in a Sonic game. Was there much to the story? Not really, but the gameplay and controls were flawless.

    In terms of 3D game play, it does goes to Generations because I believe SEGA has mastered the Hedgehog Engine in this game. Where Sonic Unleashed had the original, the game was all speed based, without too much thought in the level design. Everything was trial and error; you die, you get a little further, you die, you get a little further, etc, etc. Sonic Colors had too much platforming for me and the game felt far too slowed down, but Generations stuck it right down the middle. Fast paced stages that have a million directions to go and some platforming thrown in here and there. The biggest thing is the game isn’t anywhere as difficult as the prior two games. If you made a mistake in Unleashed or Colors, chances are you were going to die. In Generations, if you forget a jump or don’t take the right turn, you go to a different part of the stage that takes a bit longer to get through. Once you spend a long enough time in one stage in Generations, you really see just how massive they tend to be.

    I’ll be completely honest here, I don’t find story elements to be important in a Sonic game, similar to how it works in the Mario series. If the story becomes too complicated and takes too big a part of the game, it could go down the same road that Sonic 2006 went, where the story was filled with plotholes and made absolutely no sense half the time. Could it be used to spice up the game? Absolutely! The stories were my favorite part of the Adventure series. I have to agree that SEGA is focusing too much on the childish side of the storyline, but let’s not look too deep into it, since the main focus of the series is the gameplay after all.

    P.S. – I would kill to play an Archie based Sonic game. =P

    Overview:

    TERA: The Exiled Realm of Arborea, is a Korean developed Action-MMO, originally released in January of 2011. En Masse Studios picked up publishing rights for a North American Release;,now slated for May 1st 2012. While the game went through quite a few troubles upon release, along with legal issues, the game has finally made it into its first beta stage which was opened February 17th till the 19th. Currently En Masse plans on 4 more beta test weekends over the next few months, along with an open beta in early April and finally a head start event for pre-orders April 28th. After almost two years of waiting for some good news, I finally got a chance to take a look at TERA: The Exiled Realm of Arborea.

    The World:

    The World itself feels quite massive, especially when you get past the Isle of Dawn. Unfortunately the game starts very linear, with only 1 starting zone, and really doesn’t open up until almost level 20. However at this point the game starts giving you story quests in multiple zones, allowing you to make choices where to level and quest. The down side? Well you will need to get back and finish those story quests, so they are still fairly mandatory to go to each zone.

    The UI:

    As you may have noticed, TERA does not have a very standard UI system… in fact you will not see a mouse on your screen a large majority of the time. This is due in part to the way combat works (which I will describe in detail later on). You may also notice the shortness of the hotbar, and the inclusion of tab, left click and right click. The game allows you to use these buttons as hotkeys and change them as needed. The last major difference is the mini map system. In the upper right you have a radar, which shows npcs, monsters, your field of vision, grouped players, and more. Next to your quest log you have the actual minimap, which is more of a see through road map with markings. These markings can be changed based on the monster or quest you are tracking, which allows for very easy questing as you no longer have to search online forums or through all the quest text to find where 1 guy is hiding out.

    Races:

    In total, there are seven races available and yes, your choice matters! Each race provides fairly unique racial abilities, and with that also comes the size advantage. While Elin and Popori are tiny races giving them the advantage of less hit boxes, they also have some of the poorest racial abilities. The Aman and Baraka on the other hand stand tall and will be much easier to hit; but in turn gain some very useful abilities making them much more resilient. So choose wisely!

    Leveling:

    One of the beauties of TERA is it actually allows players to level how they want. Monsters have fairly good drop rates and give a good amount of experience, so solo grinding is a viable option (if that is how you wish to play). Questing is still probably the best option as it advances the story, and it is fairly necessary to return to towns from time to time. When you start to find boss monsters the game returns presents you with another viable option of group grinding, as these monsters give very good experience, money, and drops. Combine this with the entertainment of the action combat and suddenly grinding isn't so much of a bother.

    Combat:

    TERA moves away from the standard “tab and spam” combat that has been around since the 90’s. The game revolves heavily around a reticle targeting systme for all of your abilities, with some exception, and plays much more like one would expect from a monster hunter game. Why does this make such a big difference? It removes a large portion of RNG from the game, giving control of actually landing hits, or resisting them, to the player. The down side comes in the form of how lag will influence combat, most specificity PvP.

    Melee Combat:

    If you enjoy games like God of War, Monster Hunter, etc. Then you will likely be very happy with the combat provided in TERA. Melee combat revolves around closing the gap and really punishing your opponent while at the same time dodge rolling or blocking (yes, you actually have to hold your shield up to block!) to avoid taking damage. With many options to close distance, deal damage, and control the flow of battle, Melee combat becomes an incredibly fun way to play the game.

    Ranged Combat/ Healing:

    Ranged combat plays heavily on the reticle targeting system as melee does, however there are a few differences. Ranged combatants, depending on class, gain access to traps, ranged AOE, player based AoE, and heals. Due to the nature of the combat system, it would be almost impossible to land some of these abilities, thus making them fairly useless. To fix this some ranged abilities use a lock-on system to make them viable. Does this break the combat and make ranged overpowered? Unfortunately PvP has been very limited in the beta and thus it is hard to tell at this point. However, from my experience the debuffs, dots, and basic lock-on damage attacks do fairly low damage, similar to a players auto attack, and leans more towards not actually breaking PvP combat. However, this is something the developers need to monitor.

    Boss Monsters / Dungeons /Group Play:

    This is probably the most fun I have had in a game leveling in my 20’s. Grouping up with a few friends, we tempted to grind basilisks (the first abundant tough monster available). These monsters have around 5- 10 times the amount of HP as normal monsters, give less visible signs of the attacks they do, and really require players to pay attention, less get hit for a quarter to half their HP. I was very impressed with the group combat dynamics this early on, and only makes me excited for the challenges further down the road.

    Unfortunately my group didn’t get to the point of doing the first major dungeon in the game, however I can only imagine it is scaled up from the dungeon on the Isle of Dawn; if so TERA will be a game that will both challenge PvE players in a brand new way, and be much less of a “farm” as so many other MMO games become.

    Crafting:

    Unfortunately I didn’t get into the crafting system too much. However from what I saw, it really isn’t anything too impressive at the basic level. If you played Aion, it is essentially the same system with the exception that you automatically have access to all gathering and crafting skills. Crafting appears to go up to a skill of 410, and while crafting it is possible to “bonus” giving you either more of what you craft or possibly better items.

    Enchanting:

    A nice feature for gear upgrading, TERA gives players the option of using all the junk weapons and armor they find to upgrade their own equipment by use of the Enchanting system. The menu can be opened anywhere in the game, and as long as you carry around some alkahest (a common material found on general merchants) you plop your item in, some alkahest, and the excess gear, and you can start the process. It is important to note that not all gear is upgradable, so this isn't always the case to keep your gear updated.

    Guilds:

    Unfortunately not something I got around to, however there are a few things I picked up on. Guilds do have a leveling system to them. The way to level a guild up is via message boards (located in major towns) that provide guild quests. Likely bonuses will be provided through guild levels and will also likely be required to take part in the political system.

    Glyphs:

    Most games use a Talent tree system, TERA instead uses Glyphs. Players are able to customize their abilities towards their play style with the use of adding glyphs to their abilities. This system works by giving an augment (some abilities have upwards of 7 choices) to specific abilities to either make them do more damage, additional effects, change the speed or damage of a follow-up ability, etc. To balance this system glyph points are used, giving value to each glyph and of course more points are avalible as you level.

    The Way I See It:

    Overall the game has some very strong content to offer, and an entertaining combat system to enjoy. There are plenty of elements that continue to add depth and entertainment to TERA. The combat system is a very nice change that has rarely been seen in the MMO industry thus far (exceptions would include Tabula Rasa, Vindictus, and Darkfall). If successful, it will add another layer of skill for all players. However there is one downfall; based on initial feedback players experienced lag issues, mainly with PvP. This is a very serious issue and may very well hinder the game if not fixed.

    Several elements of the game I still would like to see more of; namely Open World PvP, Guilds, and the Political system; However even without that, the game could prove to be a very fun game with the PvE alone... as long as content can continue to prove entertaining and challenging. Of course this is no excuse to drop the other elements as an entire package is what I signed up for.

  12. For those of you interested in competitive Call of Duty and are on a team that is trying to get their team work down, here are some basic guidelines for what needs to be done in order to achieve success. This may sound reiterated if you've ever tried to compete on a 4 man roster:

    Communication would probably be the biggest thing to focus on only because of the significant of it. It could be that factor that makes or breaks a team in a match depending on how well the 4 members of the team can use Call outs effectively, have good awareness and say where enemies are, etc.

    Holding up your end of the team is a huge thing just basically for the concept of it. This is the most obvious one as it makes sense of what needs to be done. If you hold up your own, then it won't cause any flaws within your teams attitude for one another. Do your player roles, and listen to the captain of the team because it establishes a small chain of command and only on person calls the shots; this makes things organized and structured. What can be added on to your end, learn how to position yourself on maps as that will cause a lot of problems for your opponent and will start establishing map control for your team.

    Another thing to try to learn is team chemistry, it may be the hardest thing to establish due to the differences between the players that may be evident early on in the teams life span. Once chemistry is there, it's very difficult to go away, and you'll see professional teams like EnVyUs and team Obey have remarkable chemistry. Even if every member of the team had below average individual skill levels, if the chemistry and communication is there, it still does the job and can bring teams to the top.

    And lastly, establishing friendships outside of the game. Friendships always help with the way your team operates as it gives you time to understand your team mates better so you can know what they are thinking in game, as well as knowing what they are like at their bests and lowest times. Very important to know what to do when there is a problem in game and someone gets frustrated.

    These things will all help any team trying to achieve good team work all around. I hope I have opened some eyes to how teamwork is done properly. I look forward to seeing some new teams break into pro status next year, good luck!

More and more gamers are putting aside their favorite console and PC games and bringing their skills up to more serious games such as online poker, attracted by not just the skill and strategy required to play the game well but also the fact that some players have claimed to easily clear $100,000+ per year. Poker might not pack the same excitement of some first person shooters or other games but the chance to make a steady income from a game that puts many of your already well-honed gaming skills to good use is hard to pass up.

    Other professional gamers have already made the leap to playing poker full-time, with some StarCraft pros finding tons of success at the poker tables. One advantage of playing online poker versus live poker is that you can play multiple tables at one time; for winning players this means that they can play many more hands online, which works out to greater profits in the long run. StarCraft players tend to find multi-tabling at poker especially easy, with years of multi-tasking practice at StarCraft and other RTS games putting them in great position to succeed at poker.

    Success at poker does require hard work, practice, and the willingness to learn basic odds and common mathematical situations that arise, but none are all that difficult or real roadblocks to gamers who want to try their hand at poker. The biggest obstacle to success is commitment and being able to control your emotions, as while poker is a game of skill it does contain an element of luck, so you’ll inevitably have some losing streaks where it’s important to keep your focus and play your best game despite the frustrations.

    There are a lots of websites out there that gives you access to poker games, including cash games and tournaments at a wide range of buy-ins. Some players start at very low levels, depositing just $50-$100 and work it up to the point that they’re playing in high stakes games with thousands of dollars up for grabs in each and every pot. Others haven’t deposited a penny, choosing instead to take advantage of freeroll tournaments that cost nothing to enter to get a starting bankroll, and then go to work building it up from there. However you prefer to get started, there's lots of opportunities for the gamer waiting to play!

    Before the next episodes of the Losers Bracket and The Halo Council air, I wanted to ask the Halo Community: What are you doing?

    Since the Losers Bracket aired on Tuesday evening, have you told 343 Industries that you want to continue seeing Halo on the MLG Pro Circuit? This is a big question for the Halo Pro Community.

    Over the past few days, I’ve been checking your Twitter feeds to see what your reactions were to this past Tuesday night’s Losers Bracket. Quite frankly, the overall reaction, with the exception of a few, has been largely muted. Members of the MLG Halo Pro Community, I want to ask you just one question: Do you think Sundance was just full of hot air when he gave his assessment of Halo heading into 2012? I assure you, he was not. Sundance DiGiovanni is a gentleman that I will always take at his word. He is not the type of individual to make those statements lightly.

    Next question. This one goes out to the Pro and Amateur players. What are you doing?

    Streaming? That’s nice, but it’s not contributing to a solution here.

    Retweeting The Halo Council? That’s a good start, but what else are you doing?

    Making plans to practice for 2012? That’s all well and good, but again, not contributing to a solution to our mutual problem.

    Before I go any further, I want to give an extra special THANK YOU(!) to everyone that has been a part of The Halo Council. Gandhi, Dmaq, Nexy, BestMan, Hammertime, and everyone else who contributes to that show. Some may argue with their methods, but they are the ones stepping up to the plate and defending the game that we all love to play!

    Next, I want to address something very important. Members of the Halo Council can’t do it alone. There are a large number of members of the Halo Community who are sitting there and doing NOTHING. You’re sitting at home and watching Gandhi, Nexy, Dmaq, and everyone else do the hard work that needs to be done here. That is just sickening, unfair, and insulting to those who are stepping up to the plate here.

    I won’t be calling players out, but you know exactly who you are.

    Have you contacted 343 Industries to tell them that you want to see Halo on the MLG Pro Circuit in 2012?

    Have you expressed your support for The Halo Council?

    I can already tell you that there a large number of you that haven’t said one word. You’re at home, scrimming with your teammates, and thinking that this will all blow over soon. If you keep thinking that, you’ll have nothing left to practice for. This is a call to the entire Halo Community: It’s past time to step it up!! Wake up and smell the Maple Nut Crunch. You’re game is in danger of being taken away from you. If any of you take issue with my words, I say this: “If I’m stepping on your toes, move your feet.”

    Sundance recently said that players are largely powerless in all of this. With all due respect, I dare say that he is wrong. If all 40,000 viewers of The Halo Council sent one, that’s right, one message to 343 Industries, I guarantee that your voice would be heard. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are powerless in all of this because it’s just not true. Strength in numbers, people. It’s not hard.

    We can stand together as a team...or we will die as individuals.

    The only question is, what are you doing?

    This year; one of the things I'm thankful is none other than... vVv, umm duh, especially LordJerith.

    But, it's not just because they are here to play games with, and that they're just a great group of guys and gals, though those things help.

    It's actually because no matter how my real life is going, or how it dampens my ability to do the things I need to do for vVv, they always have my spot open for me when things settle down. Hopefully, with how things are going now, I'll be much more active, and have the ability to do much more for the vVv Family that I love so much.

    Now, on to LordJerith. I'm thankful for him as he is always around to talk to about family problems when no one else around, including real life friends due to their immaturity and other such nuisances, is willing to just chill and talk. Thank you LordJerith, I appreciate it.

    Expect me to keep my work load up and consistently completing tasks from this point on for you guys.

  15. Well you know all good things come to an end and with recent happenings, I feel like its time for me to say goodbye. I have had fun with vVv the short time I've been here. Have had some things I disagree with, some things I enjoyed. All things aside its a great community and alot of you I will miss you but then of course others you know a bye will be suffice. All the people who I've grown kind of in good terms with Bizkit, Glory, Exodus, and Trod, you are alot of fun and I do hope to stay in contact with you. Exodus I know I will with you buddy :).

    I mean you know, wish vVv and everyone here the best of luck in the future.

  16. Time is a difficult thing to manage. When I was younger, I had alot of free time, and I always thought it would be that way. Lately I've realized it's a bit hard to balance everything like I want to.

    My body is a bit different, if I go to sleep while the sun is down (it actually changes depending on season), I will not get restful sleep. So I sleep during the day, usually sometime during the afternoon I'll lay down.

    This is actually a good, in the terms of the relationship I'm in. My love is at work from morning to afternoon, then school during the evening, and comes home about the time I wake up.

    The catch is that, most of the people I enjoy gaming with (Like Hauser, Amped, Asylum, Vagrance, Trowa, Spike, I can keep going), have things to do during the day, or sleep. So I can play about 1-4 hours with them, or spend time with my lover, this is a really difficult thing to balance. I enjoy my friends, I enjoy gaming with vVv, and it makes me look inactive as people say "I'm never on", and yet I'll hop in mumble during the day, and nobody is there, giving the illusion of inactivity.

    I just want you guys to know, I'm not inactive, I'm have priorities. If I don't play during the night, you can assume why. I am here, I'm always on skype if you want to talk (Krow-Tox, add me).

    This illusion of inactivity isn't helped that I don't really like forums. They bring back irritating memories of my childhood, and how stupid I used to be. I don't like thinking about then, and I don't like forums. I don't enjoy posting in them, so it makes me look "inactive". I'm just trying to reinforce here, I am here, if you really want me, add me on skype :)

  17. A few minutes ago, ItoxBlade (https://www.facebook.com/ItoxBlade) the best Brawl player in Venezuela challenged me to an Online Match for 20$ Dollars. I told him it would lag very badly and that I didn't wanted to do the money match (Because I was very tired. I didn't sleep and my hands were really cold). He INSISTED to play the MM "RIGHT NOW". I said "Ok I guess. Let's do it".

    I beat him 3-0. I beat his Snake (Smashville), Olimar (Final Destination) and Meta Knight (Battlefield) with my Meta Knight. I saved the replay for Game 3 against his Meta Knight.

    He called me a "Hacker" because "My attacks were stronger" and "I couldn't DI your hits". And he won't pay me a single cent.

    You were a really cool person and I didn't see something like this coming, I'm very dissapointed from you Itoxblade.

  18. Sexual Preference does it exist? As far as everyday society believe it does. They say either your straight, bi, lesbian, or gay (men). But can we classify people as even straight, to me i believe not because in everyday life you are bound to meet people or already know people who went through an 'experimentation phase," where a woman you know dated another woman or a man you know dated another man. That to me sound likes bi sexual or as today's society calls curious in this situation.

    There are two reasons why sexual preference does not exist:

    • People of the Homophobic nature have been tested and surveyed in watching gay pornographic material and seem to be more aroused than the homosexual party included as well. Which proves to everyone that homophobia has something to do with homosexual arousal and can also beg the question to say that he/she may be denying they are gay themselves.
    • Since the time of the Greeks and Romans there was never such a thing as sexual preference for times of war especially they shared gay relations which has flourished over time to where we are now.

    What are possible reasons for being gay?

    • There are many possible reasons for being gay one being that since you were a little kid that you find yourself happy with being around another person of the same gender and it motivated or helped you express more that you are in fact gay. Other reasons could be that more and more people are finding that gay relationships are turning out to last longer than hetero relationships because you can relate better to people of the same gender, and that you may have left a horrible relationship which made you turn teams to being gay. There are also those times that you find yourself in the experimentation stage which usually happens during you high school or college years.

    What do you classify as straight?

    • There is no way to be classified as straight for everyone at least once in their lifetime has had a gay thought or had a gay experience. The closest to "straight" you can possibly be is preferring the opposite gender over the same gender to be with. In modern studies over the years it has been shown that 2- 13% of the population has either 1 admitted to being gay or 2 have a sexual experience in once in their lifetime. In other studies tests have proved from surveys etc that when asked if people has had homosexual relations, they have mostly answered no. Now how can we tell that they were telling the truth? Well they rephrased the question saying have you had same sex relations, almost they number who said yes doubled seeing that people in society are in denial.

    Is homosexuality a disorder or genetically passed down?

    • Homosexuality is in fact not a disorder mental or physical but as for genetics it is not known entirely if it can be genetically but it has been suggested that men are more likely to be gay if they have an older brother or if you were growing up around a homosexual enviornment.

    Origins of homosexuality

    • The earliest record of homosexuality was from East Asia. As for the Americas its was before the Europeans came to the Americas in which the indigenous people when young would be given the choice by parents to be gay or not and would support their lifestyle in which ever they choose.

    Now knowing all of this it has been clear that everyone in their life has either had a gay experience, thought gay or even admitted to being gay all together but knowing that it is clear that obviously even among the "straight" people they are in fact bi in which its is vice versa for gay people as well concluding that there is no such thing as sexual preference for we are all bi and favor one gender over another for its not your actions that make you gay or not but how you think which everyone fails to realize and then say oh i'm straight or gay etc etc.

    Reasons for changes, numero uno (number one): School started back a couple weeks ago, and between school, football, and other stuff, it's tough for me to do ANYTHING throughout the weekdays.

    Reasons for changes, numero dos (number two): It's more convenient for me and makes me more reliable.

    What is changing?

    • Times that Community Spotlights and Behind the Team/Players interviews will be published.

    Details?

    • Community Spotlights will still be twice a month, only it will come out on Sunday's.

    • Behind the (whatever) will be on a week-by-week basis depending on when/if I have one scheduled for that week. Will ALWAYS come out on Sundays though. Most likely, the Sundays at which no Community Spotlight is dated.

    • Community Spotlights will be the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the Month. Months that have FIVE Sundays will have a Community Spotlight on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month.

    • That being said, Behind the Team/Players will be on: Months with four Sundays, 2nd and/or 4th Sundays. Months with five Sundays, 2nd and/or 3rd and/or 5th Sundays, again depending on if there is one scheduled.

    • All other activities, and jobs I currently have will commence/resume/end on Saturdays.

    Outlook of my schedule:

    Can't do krap on Weekdays, basically.

    Weekends, filled with homework, some downtime, will be spent mostly on vVv from this point forward.

    Side Note: Understand for all Community Spotlightees, Behind the Playerees/Teamees that ALL interviews will be sent out as normal throughout the Weekdays, and Microphone interviews will be conducted on Saturdays.

  19. Forewarning: If this blog pisses you off, chances are it's about you. So I caution you as you go forth reading this blog.

    I've been gaming a long time. I've been competing in top end tournaments for a little while, and know the games that I play, well might I add. One question that I've consistently asked myself over the past few months is, "Why do these players that I get randomly grouped with suck so hard?" I'm sure we've all asked this question, and the answer isn't always what you'd expect or like. Here are a few things that players do that hinder any chance of them improving in any, yes ANY, given game:

    1) Failure to communicate. Yes, a team based game REQUIRES communication. If you're not talking to your teammates, you're letting them down. If you're not communicating important information to the team, you are hindering your and your teams chances of a victory. There have been too many games that I've played that because somebody didn't relay a key bit of information to the rest of the team, the entire team got punished for it and it caused a loss on top of it.

    How do we fix this? TALK TO YOUR DAMN TEAM!

    2) Lack of Knowledge of the particular game. This is the #2 reason why I rage. Yes, there are new people who aren't knowledgeable of a certain game, they shouldn't be playing competitively. And when they try, they bring their team down. Before you try to step into any competitive scene, you better have a knowledge of your game that's on par with the other competitors, or better. Too many times have I seen someone just come into a competitive scene and get completely rolled over because they don't know what the heck is going on.

    How do we fix this? TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN YOUR GAME BEFORE MAKING OTHER PEPOLE SUFFER FROM YOUR SUCK!

    3) Refusal to Learn From Those Better Than You. This is, by FAR, the #1 reason I rage. People who don't listen, get stuck in their bad habits, and will never stop sucking because of it. You want to know WHY you suck? Because you won't change your bad habits and you won't listen to those who are better than you on how you can improve. If you're one of those people, get out of my fucking game and never speak to me, ever. I don't want to deal with you. If you change your mind and want to listen, then by all means, I will show you flaws in your play and show you how to be a better player. Help you break you of your bad habits, even. But if you think, even for a second, that what you're doing is fine, and you're STILL losing? Get away from me, don't even bother talking.

    How do we fix this? WE CAN'T, BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE TOO STUCK UP TO ADMIT THAT THEY FUCKED UP!

    I'll admit, I've fucked up plenty of my games, and I've learned from every experience. That's where you separate yourself from the rest of the pack. If you're not learning every day, you're failing, and failing miserably.

    So to those whom I offended, I say this, "Get your head out of your ass and listen to people. If you don't, it's a dark world in there."
